When choosing a care home for my parents it was a hard process, however, Haughgate House Nursing Home were very understanding and supportive. My parents have been at Haughgate for nearly two years and in that time the staff have been very professional, friendly and very approachable. The activities/outings are excellent with lots of variety. The summer fete and Christmas bazaar were well attended which confirmed this. I also value the opportunity to attend relatives' meetings which is a good form of communication. The kitchen staff are very friendly towards the residents and the food is excellent. Haughgate House does feel very homely which I feel my parents need, which ultimately is down to all the amazing staff who work very hard to achieve this.

Just a brief note to thank all the staff at Haughgate House Nursing Home for the care given to Mum over the last few months.
I'd never set foot in a care home before and I know Mum wasn't planning on finishing her days being cared for by strangers, however, I think it is fair to say that the care, love and attention given is exceptional. I don't think of any of you as strangers anymore but certainly some strange characters.
All of you are doing an exceptional job in trying times with not enough resources, keep going.
You are a credit to both Haughgate House and your professions. I've not named you I apologise I hope the fruit/biscuits and occasional treats that I bought in will be recompense for your omission all my own fault!
At the end, you all showed compassion and dignity just as Mum would have wanted it.

Going forward I hope that the current and future residents can rely on you all continuing to do your best to care and smile every day we always knew mum's stay would be a short one.

My grandparents have been here for 18 months. Staff are very caring and kind. Rooms are warm and comfortable with personal belongings to make it feel homely. The activities coordinator arranges thoughtful and engaging activities for residents and we are pleased, post covid there are now more activities that relatives to engage too. Management often changes and historically there has been a lack of communication, although we have seen an improvement in recent weeks. I must say though, that the regular staff and carers are wonderful and have built positive relationships with both residents and relatives. Thank you for all of your hard work, it is always appreciated.

We have tried to visit our friend who used to have us to stay with her every year until lockdown. This year she is 98 years old. We noticed a great deterioration in her mental state and physical capability which is only to be expected. However, the way she has been looked after is quite excellent. The room was very pleasantly arranged with pictures and keepsakes. She was clean and comfortable and content.

Following a decline in health and a stay in hospital, my husband was in low spirits when he was transferred to Haughgate Nursing Home. Thankfully he has progressed with the professional, gentle care of the nursing staff and wonderful dedicated carers. The staff make every effort to bring the incapacitated into the daily sessions and where possible to go into the gardens. The atmosphere is calm and the staff are always available. Where possible residents go to the restaurant and all diets are accommodated. The home is well laid out and residents can move freely. Thank you I am so reassured that my dear husband is in a safe, caring and professional home.

My husband was discharged from hospital to the Haughgate House Nursing Home, after he had a protracted stay in hospital and needed more care than I was able to give him at home.
We are so pleased to see how my husband has improved since he has been at the home.
He has complex needs and requires a lot of nursing care, but all the staff are so kind cheerful and helpful.
His room is very pleasant with a lovely large window and the care staff have placed his bed close to this so he is able to look out onto the garden.
We have given a bird feeder with food today and the staff put this up immediately.
The whole ambience when you enter is of a home from home feel.
Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to visit much as yet and are awaiting eagerly for the visiting to be extended beyond just myself so that the extended family can see their father/grandfather and great grandfather.

My daughter and I would like to thank you for all your wonderful care in what is a very difficult time.

I am so pleased with my husband's experience at Haughgate. Although I miss him terribly, he seems so contented with the service he gets at the moment. His face lights up when he sees the staff and he chats animatedly (if not understandably!) to them. I pray this continues as his dementia and Parkinsons disease get worse.

My mother moved to Haughgate House from another home and she has been so much happier at Haughgate. The staff, especially the nursing staff, are the most caring, thoughtful and professional I have ever seen in a care home (and I have seen a lot). They really have tried to make the last part of my mum's life as good as it possibly could be and I am very grateful.

Am disappointed in the appearance of my friend. He needs shave regularly. Was sick and came out with a filthy t.shirt on. Otherwise am happy with how he is being looked after. Even though he can be non-compliant most of the time.

My mother has been a resident for six weeks. The transition from living independently at home was not easy, but the kindness, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff relieved a lot of the anxiety she and we have had. I visited her today in the garden pod which is comfortable, and the ability to visit is much appreciated. In her own words, she loves her room with two windows and sunshine coming in, looks forward to her meals and says the carers are always cheerful, friendly and look after her very well. She enjoys coming down to the lounge and joining in with the activities when she feels she would like to. She says my sister and I have chosen a very good place for her to live. Our thanks to the manager and her excellent staff.

My experience of visiting Haughgate House Nursing Home during the coronavirus emergency has been only outdoors in very difficult circumstances for everyone.

The staff are kind and helpful and the nursing care seems to be to a high standard. I am kept informed of any issues. The manager has been very supportive. I cannot rate the rooms/food, drink as have not seen them. Value for money does not apply.

I have found the carers and management staff to be both kind, patient and efficient. Although they all seem very busy all of the time, they still are polite and friendly. Many relatives spend most of their days visiting and all say good things about their family's care.

I give all credit to the amazing staff during this awful time. They have worked tirelessly to keep morale and spirits up of the residents and also of the relatives by doing video link ups. They have kept their standard of care up to highest levels possible whilst dealing with PPE and also their own anxieties. Well done to all the staff, nurses, carers, activity staff, maintenance staff, kitchen staff and cleaners.

I have visited many care homes in the Ipswich and Woodbridge area over the past six years. Some have been passable and others poor. In my opinion, Haughgate House should be held up as how a home should be run. It is outstanding from the Manager down. Staff are brilliant, with residents motivated from day to day. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is absolutely outstanding.
