Haughgate House Nursing Home

When it is considered that the resident is expecting to receive all the welfare issues for someone in care. However, as my wife is 75, she does have a little difficulty with activities due to limited movement. The wider issues of her care is very satisfactory when you consider the mental issues that she has and need a slightly different approach. There is the added advantage that visitors receive when visiting residents.

We were so impressed from the moment we visited Haughgate House to see if it was the right place for Dad. Now Dad is a resident. we are so happy he is there. All staff from the manager, back office, activity, kitchen and care staff are wonderful. When you enter it feels like home, staff engage with Dad allowing him to hear their experiences and for him to share his. Haughgate House has provided a safe, caring and varied environment removing all the worries and concerns we had as a family. Thank you!

Both my over ninety year old parents were moved to Haughgate House following a traumatic stay in hospital after a joint fall. They were given side by side bedrooms and visits to see each other facilitated whenever desired. They even managed to get my completely immobile dad onto my mum's bed for a last cuddle. Sadly, Mum's time there was only three weeks and Dad five, but they made sure that it was a stay with dignity and kindness. So many caring people; the nurses, healthcare assistant and wonderful kitchen staff always made us as comfortable as our parents (including providing several of us wonderful meals). They facilitated a stay with my mum around the clock for my sister, niece and I whilst Mum was dying. We won’t ever forget that and all the carers. A particular thank you to one young carer whose warmth with my dad was the only thing that could light him up at times; holding his hand, giving him a hug and patiently feeding him. We will forever be in your debt. Thank you!

When choosing a care home for my parents it was a hard process, however, Haughgate House Nursing Home were very understanding and supportive. My parents have been at Haughgate for nearly two years and in that time the staff have been very professional, friendly and very approachable. The activities/outings are excellent with lots of variety. The summer fete and Christmas bazaar were well attended which confirmed this. I also value the opportunity to attend relatives' meetings which is a good form of communication. The kitchen staff are very friendly towards the residents and the food is excellent. Haughgate House does feel very homely which I feel my parents need, which ultimately is down to all the amazing staff who work very hard to achieve this.

Going forward I hope that the current and future residents can rely on you all continuing to do your best to care and smile every day we always knew mum's stay would be a short one.

My grandparents have been here for 18 months. Staff are very caring and kind. Rooms are warm and comfortable with personal belongings to make it feel homely. The activities coordinator arranges thoughtful and engaging activities for residents and we are pleased, post covid there are now more activities that relatives to engage too. Management often changes and historically there has been a lack of communication, although we have seen an improvement in recent weeks. I must say though, that the regular staff and carers are wonderful and have built positive relationships with both residents and relatives. Thank you for all of your hard work, it is always appreciated.

When I visit the staff are always friendly and helpful but my mother says she is always cold so I have to ask for more blankets to make her more comfortable.

We have tried to visit our friend who used to have us to stay with her every year until lockdown. This year she is 98 years old. We noticed a great deterioration in her mental state and physical capability which is only to be expected. However, the way she has been looked after is quite excellent. The room was very pleasantly arranged with pictures and keepsakes. She was clean and comfortable and content.

Following a decline in health and a stay in hospital, my husband was in low spirits when he was transferred to Haughgate Nursing Home. Thankfully he has progressed with the professional, gentle care of the nursing staff and wonderful dedicated carers. The staff make every effort to bring the incapacitated into the daily sessions and where possible to go into the gardens. The atmosphere is calm and the staff are always available. Where possible residents go to the restaurant and all diets are accommodated. The home is well laid out and residents can move freely. Thank you I am so reassured that my dear husband is in a safe, caring and professional home.

The wonderful staff at Haughgate House cared for my mum over the past eighteen months. I would especially like to thank them for their compassion, kindness and thoughtfulness over the last few weeks of her life. I will always remember their sympathetic words and the strength they gave me.

I am so pleased with my husband's experience at Haughgate. Although I miss him terribly, he seems so contented with the service he gets at the moment. His face lights up when he sees the staff and he chats animatedly (if not understandably!) to them. I pray this continues as his dementia and Parkinsons disease get worse.

My stepdad always said the staff are always very helpful.

My mother moved to Haughgate House from another home and she has been so much happier at Haughgate. The staff, especially the nursing staff, are the most caring, thoughtful and professional I have ever seen in a care home (and I have seen a lot). They really have tried to make the last part of my mum's life as good as it possibly could be and I am very grateful.

Am disappointed in the appearance of my friend. He needs shave regularly. Was sick and came out with a filthy t.shirt on. Otherwise am happy with how he is being looked after. Even though he can be non-compliant most of the time.

My mother has been a resident for six weeks. The transition from living independently at home was not easy, but the kindness, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff relieved a lot of the anxiety she and we have had. I visited her today in the garden pod which is comfortable, and the ability to visit is much appreciated. In her own words, she loves her room with two windows and sunshine coming in, looks forward to her meals and says the carers are always cheerful, friendly and look after her very well. She enjoys coming down to the lounge and joining in with the activities when she feels she would like to. She says my sister and I have chosen a very good place for her to live. Our thanks to the manager and her excellent staff.

The staff are kind and helpful and the nursing care seems to be to a high standard. I am kept informed of any issues. The manager has been very supportive. I cannot rate the rooms/food, drink as have not seen them. Value for money does not apply.

I have found the carers and management staff to be both kind, patient and efficient. Although they all seem very busy all of the time, they still are polite and friendly. Many relatives spend most of their days visiting and all say good things about their family's care.
