My aunt has recently moved into Sunrise, and they have all made her feel so welcome and at home; she is the happiest I have seen her in such a long time.
Nothing appears too much for the staff, and they are very happy and cheerful.
The managers are always approachable and make my family feel reassured.
I
would recommend Sunrise.
Thank you to everyone there.

My mother spent three years at the Sunrise Nursing Home in Felixstowe. The staff who looked after her were exceptionally kind and caring. She had a beautiful view of the sea from her bed, and members of her family were always made very welcome. Her room was always clean and smelt fresh, and she loved
the food. The staff enabled her to spend her last days in a calm and dignified way with the family at her bedside, able to see her smile, hold her hands and catch her last few words. Thank you so much to all at the Sunrise.

An amazing team who looked after my dad so well in his final few months. So caring and attentive and went above and beyond, even visiting him when he was in the hospital for a short while. Thank you to everyone at Sunrise; you are all stars.

My uncle came here originally for respite care for a week; however, after initially having doubts about him being in full-time care, this week showed that the care and mental stimulation that Sunrise care home gave him, there was no doubt this was the best place for him to be. He has now been there
five months and cannot praise the home enough. The staff and management go above and beyond to make him feel at home. My uncle has a diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome and Dementia, and it is such a reassurance that the home can meet his needs. He has made many friends and enjoys taking part in the large array of activities offered. There are many areas in the home where you can sit together and have quality time together with a cup of tea and cake. It is like one big happy family home, and that is thanks to the wonderful team at all levels who are dedicated to the well-being of their residents. I would highly recommend Sunrise care home to any prospective residents.

I have recently been to visit my grandad at Sunrise, and I found the staff to be very welcoming and pleasant. The atmosphere was bright and lively, and all the staff seemed happy. My grandad seems happy to be living at Sunrise and is enjoying the attention he is receiving. The homemade cakes were very
nice.

Our aunt has lived at Sunrise Nursing Home for a year now, and she has never been happier. They encourage her sociability and provide her with much warmth and attention. She loves the food and never has any complaints. It would be nice to see some of the profits go into making the place and its furnishings
less shabby, which lets down the overall feeling of the place as uncared for, though doesn't overshadow the fantastic work the carers do around the clock. Although run down, it doesn’t stop the place from feeling homely, open and welcoming. We are so pleased she is there and that we know she is well looked after.

After a lovely respite break at Sunrise, we decided this was the right home for my brother to move to permanently. He has settled in really well and is loving all the activities and the staff - it really is a home-from-home! He has a lovely sea view from his room as well. The staff are really supportive
of the whole family, and this has made the decision for us so much easier than we expected. I would totally recommend Sunrise to anyone looking for a warm and friendly home.

Sunrise is a wonderful, warm and friendly home. Every time I visit my uncle, there is always a homely and fun atmosphere with plenty of activities. The staff are amazing, and you can see the great relationship they have with the residents. The management has made the transition of my uncle moving to
this home so easy. They have gone above and beyond to help us as a family as well as the best interests of my uncle. My uncle has been thriving since he moved into the home, and we couldn’t be more happy. Thoroughly recommend Sunrise.

My father is a resident at Sunrise, and he has never been happier. When I go to visit, he always tells me how well he is cared for and how much he likes being there. Just recently, they have had Covid in the home, and the staff have always kept me updated via phone calls.
The food always looks lovely,
and the refurbishments have made a great difference. The manager's door is always open, and she is happy to talk to me either on the phone or face to face.
My father told me that they have had a ukulele band recently, so it’s nice to know that they are having entertainment and activities.
I can not thank all the staff at Sunrise enough for all that they do.

Sunrise Nursing Home has been rejuvenated since coming out of Covid-19. They have a new manager and are now fully staffed. There seems to be a happy atmosphere amongst the staff and that reflects on the residents and all the relatives visiting their loved ones.

Sunrise was the perfect home for my grandad. He had always lived in Felixstowe near the sea, so he loved that he could see the sea from his window. When I went to view the home, I fell in love with the place, and the staff and managers are really lovely, and they went above and beyond for grandad. He
had a very good relationship with his carers. I would definitely recommend this home.

I escorted my mother (the resident) to the hospital. This appointment attendance was organised by the home in a professional manner. A member of the care home staff was with my mum all the time. The home has just recovered from a Covid outbreak, this was managed professionally, and the home is now free
of Covid.

My mother was a resident at Sunrise for over two years. She was always comfortable, well-fed, properly medicated, clean and neatly dressed. As her dementia increased, the staff were understanding, kind and compassionate.
The Covid pandemic was extremely well managed, and the staff remained cheerful
throughout such difficult times.
I would have no hesitation in recommending 'Sunrise' to anyone seeking a nursing home for a friend or relative.

Both my parents were admitted just before the home's early lockdown. I have had no fears of them catching the Coronavirus due to all the measures and precautions the staff have taken. They have kept me well informed of any event or problems at any hour.
I call daily for an update, and all the staff
have been very kind and helpful in informing me of their health and states of mind in what has been a very stressful year. All have been very supportive and helpful. Visiting is very carefully managed to the benefit of all.
Due to the situation, I have been unable to enter the home since they were admitted.

My husband was with Sunrise Nursing Home (formerly Highcliffe House) for nearly 2 years. The moment we went in I knew we had come to a good place. All staff were very friendly and we felt most relaxed. The care my husband was given was excellent, three fresh cooked meals (with a choice) every day. Nursing
care was first class. My husband had a problem that couldn't be healed in hospital but in a short time medics here proved them all wrong.

From the moment we moved our mother from a Residential home to Sunrise we have been warmly received and the care has been excellent. The management, nurses, carers, caterers and even the maintenance man have all been so friendly and receptive to any needs.
Mother has been treated with dignity and care
beyond what we have experienced before.
Each time we visit the staff are ready to stop what they are doing and discuss mum’s latest health, food intake and hydration. Their kindness is so very much appreciated. A cup of tea and a biscuit is always offered to make us feel at home too.
The decor of the room and furniture are all of an excellent standard. The adjustable electric beds with side retainers and medical-style mattresses add to her wellbeing. A spotless en-suite complements the room.
We found that because they have more than one lounge, we were able to have some quiet and private times with mother and also to talk to the staff when necessary.
Nothing seemed too much for them.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.364)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.364) out of 10 for Sunrise Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.664 for Sunrise Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (99 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 116 Ratings = 4.664
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sunrise Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
