Reviews

9.6 Barham Care Centre has a Review Score of 9.6 (9.597)

The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for Barham Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 13 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Barham Care Centre in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.688 for Barham Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (108 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 154 Ratings = 4.688

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.909 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barham Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 8.8 positive Reviews (44 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 8 Reviews ÷ 8.8 Target = 0.909

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Barham Care Centre was highly recommended to me. Both my father and myself have been made most welcome. Everyone is treated as an individual and with extreme dignity. Everything is bespoke: tailored to the individual needs and likes of residents, from medical care, personal care and food through to social activities.

Dear Maria, Thank you very much for your review. We are very pleased that you have been made to feel welcome at Barham, we consider you as part of our Barham family.

Residents are treated with respect and friendliness. The staff are very considerate of different residents needs and health.
It is a very happy and enjoyable experience for visitors to see their loved ones so well treated during what may be their last times in which to enjoy life. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff. It also seems comforting to those whose residents are in their last few hours/days.

Thank you very much for your comments in regards to Barham Care Centre. I am very pleased that you and your family have been happy with the care delivered at Barham.

Without doubt, the greatest strength of the Barham Care Centre is the excellence of the staff. During my mother's stay, all the staff from top to bottom have shown all our family great care and compassion.

Both my parents are in the above home, mum being admitted with advanced Alzheimer's and dad with vascular dementia. The care they have received since being admitted is second to none.
The staff are very friendly, nothing being too much trouble. Both their respective care needs are met on a daily basis, without question. I would without a doubt recommend this care home to anybody.

I am 83 and I travel 12 miles to visit then 12 miles home. I have, over the years visited several homes and Barham is the friendliest I have seen. The staff are very friendly and caring on more than one occasion I have seen them go that extra mile.
I have been visiting Barham for about 7 years. The management are always helpful and encourage to visit patients who are like minded or who would enjoy a visit.
My wife, now deceased, and I (a few years ago), invited a group of them to our home and garden for a BBQ and a wonderful time was had by all.

My first impression was a nice friendly homely place, staff very informative in how the home works and everyone seems happy and caring which made me feel comfortable to leave my loved one there.
The doctor comes in every week so I am able to discuss anything which I am worried about.
When my husband first went into the home he was able to get in his chair with help from carers and a hoist and go into the lounge and join with the activities which he was encouraged to do. Every Monday the staff bring round a program telling you what goes on for the week.
They even take residents out on little trips if they are capable and want to, my husband went and enjoyed it very much.
Food very good, the staff very good if people don't like what they order they will make them something else, so obliging.
And enough staff to help feed residents if needed.
Visitors can always make themselves a drink and sometimes homemade cakes.
The cleaners come into his room every day more than once as some people forget you use the bin.
The wash is done to a high standard, all his clothes are looked after well.
He had a drawer come out and could not put it back and a clock stopped working. Just spoke to staff and was done that day.
My husband's sight is very bad from the stroke and he was very frightened so he used to hit out and swear at the poor carers. They are very good and now he has got to know them he is a lot calmer most of the time.
Until you go into a care home you don't know how hard the staff work.
They are special people and Barham Care Home has a lot of them. I for one say thank you.

We visited a few homes but Barham was the one we walked into and immediately knew it was the 'home from home' we wanted for mum. There is a lovely friendly, calm atmosphere and we always felt mum was happy and comfortable there. The staff made us feel welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. We very much like that residents are able to wander about their home and there are no long corridors with a locked door at the end. The staff made an effort to learn about mum's life, interests and favourite food and drink all helping to make her time there happy and enjoyable. At the end of mum's life she was treated with exceptional kindness and compassion and everyone helped us through the difficult time. I am so happy that we found such a warm and welcoming 'home from home' for mum.

As soon as my sister and me walked in for the first time we knew our mum would be at home here. We were always made to feel welcome and everything was always out in the open. The residents can wander around as they like, no locked doors.
Our mum was well cared for and happy. There are activities each day if they want to join in. Our mum was treated as an individual and the staff made time to learn what she liked. We felt she was safe. At the end of our mum's life she and us were treated with compassion and staff showed they cared which helped to make a difficult time easier.

We were so lucky that Barham Care Centre made a room available for Dad. Their care for him, and us, was exceptional. You could not find a better home. Every single member of staff went out of their way to provide the best care possible. Dad's medical needs were quite complex; the nurses met these needs better than the hospital, and in such a caring, friendly way, with a sense of humour and with a focus on maintaining Dad's dignity. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Dad was taken into Barham in a rush, over the Xmas period.
The staff went out of their way to ensure this happened, and we are so grateful they did.
Their care for Dad (and us) was exceptional.
Everyone, regardless of their role treated Dad with kindness,
consideration, dignity and love...as if he was a part of their own family.
There aren't enough descriptive words to express how great they all are!
Highly, highly, highly (to infinity) recommend.

I find Barham to be a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. I would gladly recommend the service to friends and family who need a nursing home. One of my favorite things about the Centre is that there are regular outside entertainers that visit the home.
