Waltham House Nursing and Residential home is based in a quiet, secluded area just off Stoke Hill, Bristol, with the well-known Durdham Downs nearby.

This warm and welcoming home provides the highest standard of nursing care within a specially adapted care environment, housed in an attractive period building. The home accommodates Residents who require Residential Care and Residents who require General NursingCare.

Staff are selected for their compassion, as well as specialist care and nursing skills, delivering person-centered care for those that need specialist dedicated care.

Waltham House is full of wonderful kind caring staff who are always happy. It's small enough for all the carers to get to know the families as well as the residents. Food is good and the home is always spotless. Communication is very good between the staff and families.

My mum has received exemplary care during her time at Waltham House. She took time to settle but the patience of all the staff have made her feel as safe and settled as she could given her condition.
The home is always extremely clean and my mother's personal needs are very well addressed - she, her
clothes, room, and bedding are always pristine. Whilst her moving into a home was an exceptionally difficult time, overall I feel she is now in the best place for both her health and safety.

My uncle moved into Waltham House, December 2021.
I have nothing but praise for all the hard-working staff. The administration and nursing staff are always available to discuss any issues if they should arise. The carers are very patient and nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is excellent
and always beautifully presented - coffee/tea, biscuits/cake are available for the residents' visitors if they are visiting whilst staff are doing their rounds with the tea/coffee trolley. The cleanliness is to be commended. I would certainly recommend Waltham House to my family and friends!

The best thing about the home is the activities that are organised twice a day for the residents in the lounge. They work really well at helping with the mental well-being of everyone. The staff are very kind and caring and respectful. They are very patient, understanding, and professional with my mother,
who is a very elderly and extremely awkward, difficult, and demanding woman, she is very deaf with very poor eyesight. The staff have reacted very promptly with any medical issues my mother has had. I can relax, knowing she is safe and looked after.

We were recommended Waltham House by a friend. Everything she said is true. The staff are all, without exception, wonderful. They all know your name (as a family member), all smile, all greet you. The minute you arrive you feel warmth and care. It is always clean, always welcoming, always brilliant.
Communication is also brilliant. I feel so lucky my dad is being cared for here - will always recommend and am so grateful he is here. Thank you. Amazing.

This is a genuinely lovely home, which is kept beautifully clean and doesn't smell. Even during the lockdown, the residents were well cared for and stimulated. My mother has clean clothes every day and the staff paint her nails once a week. The whole home is calm and dignified.

My father was resident at Waltham House for 1 year when he was no longer able to live at home. I have only words of praise for the care and attention he received whilst living there, he always seemed happy, content and well cared for. The staff really try and make the resident's lives enjoyable, and
we were always welcomed whenever we visited, which for my mum almost every day.

Mum was a resident of Waltham House from October 2018 - December 2019 when she passed away peacefully in her sleep. I can't praise the staff enough for the care and affection given to mum, and she was treated with such dignity right up to the very end.
I have often said to friends you could pay thousands
of pounds a week for care but at the end of the day its the staff that matter and at Waltham House, they have the very best, from the domestic staff to the management they are excellent and always had time to talk to me.
During the time mum was at Waltham I was always made welcome and given support during mum's stay.

Myself and my family have found the staff extremely helpful from day one.
My mother has been treated with respect and is settling in nicely and her care is second to none.
The manager and administrator are very professional and considerate and always there to help and give advice.

I feel my auntie received very good care from staff. They were friendly throughout.
I have no complaints regarding the staff. The secretary was very helpful when paying the rent, very professional. I feel where it let itself down was management - very poor.

With regards to your comment about management, I hope that our phone call gave you some clarity on this. Unfortunately, during the time that your auntie was in Waltham House, the home was being managed by an area manager (whilst we were in the process of recruiting a suitable manager) who was not always based at Waltham House. Therefore it is very likely and unfortunate that you were unable to cross paths.
We now have a very experienced home manager at Waltham House who is always ready to greet our residents and visitors with a warm welcome.

We find all staff caring, patient and very kind, always greeted by the admin team on arrival. The food always looks appetising and tasty, my aunty and uncle always seem to enjoy. My aunty has had several trips out with the carer and thoroughly enjoyed the outings.

My dad was cared for at Waltham House during the last few weeks of his life. I cannot over emphasise the compassion and empathy shown to us as his children as well as the care that Dad received. He was a in a lovely room overlooking trees and his medical needs were all taken care of so that we had complete
reassurance that Dad was comfortable, safe and secure.
The management and staff in this care home were incredible in the sense that they showed us such deep compassion when Dad passed away. During such a difficult time we were able to at least know that in his final days, Dad was taken care of completely.
This is a care home which I would not hesitate to provide an extremely positive review.

My mother was a resident at Aabletone for more than two years.
During that time she was treated with dignity and compassion by all the staff both night and day. This care stayed the same even during the more demanding latter stages of her dementia.
The home was always clean and the meals were varied
and of a high standard.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home to anyone.

The impressive period care home is set in beautiful peaceful surroundings next to the botanical gardens. The manager is excellent with her patients, visitors and staff alike, as well as being extremely efficient in all areas. The atmosphere there is extremely welcoming, happy and friendly with plenty
of smiles. The manager and staff work hard as a team and are always helpful and supportive to their patients and their families. There are plenty of activities available in-house and local trips out.

It was a pleasure to visit my sister at Aabletone as the staff were genuinely pleased to help. They took care of my sister and enjoyed their work. Nothing was too much trouble. I can't thank them enough. First class people worth their weight in gold. If the funds could ever stretch to it a bigger lift
would be an asset. Other than that I loved the actual building, its layout was welcoming and homely. Exactly what I wanted to find when I was looking for the right home for my sister. This nursing home has it all.
