My husband resides at The Ellenborough Nursing & Residential Care Home since December 2017. He has been cared for very well by all who looked after him.

We have had my mother in this care home for four and a half years and we feel very comfortable in the home with every aspect of her care. The manager is always open to any queries we might have. The staff are always relaxed and good to chat too. So we always know what is going on in the home. The lady
who looks after the activities is excellent so we as a family are very happy to say to others this home is both caring and safe. My mother is happy so we are all happy.

My experience of the care home when visiting was very warming and welcoming. The staff appeared very professional and nothing was too much trouble. My mum was looked after as if she was one of their own.

My mum was only with you for two weeks but she was treated with dignity, kindness and respect,

which was very heartwarming. I cannot express how grateful I am which the home. Thank you all from myself and my family members.

My mum went into Ellenborough for respite for a month but sadly took a turn for the worst.
The care and attention that was given was wonderful. Full marks to everybody in the home.

My dad needed palliative care. I chose Ellenborough care home in Neva Road because of the staff and the love I felt when I was looking for a place my dad could feel at peace.
Everything for me was way above expectation.
Thanks a million.

My father has spent about two years and nine months as a resident at Ellenborough. The first six months were with my mother who died in June 2016. I am very pleased with the way that they were both looked after, the staff all deserve a medal for maintaining such a friendly and professional level of
care to all the residents. My father always used to say that they had the best chef in W.S.M. He loved his food!
My father has now also passed away and so that's why my wife and I wanted to record our opinions and say a big thank you to the manager and all the staff at Ellenborough Nursing and Residential Care Home.

Since moving to The Ellenborough Nursing & Residential Care Home, my mother-in-law is much more settled. She is well looked after and really cared for. She has put on weight and is always smartly dressed and groomed. The nurses and carers are friendly and approachable and obviously care about the residents.
My mother-in-law is happier than she has been for a long time. We are delighted with the care she receives. Thank-you to all the staff.

I would like to thank everyone at The Ellenborough for looking after my mother until she passed away a few weeks ago. Mum didn’t want to end her life in hospital and the love and care she received from the staff was exceptional. Words cannot say how grateful all the family are to everyone at The Ellenborough.
Mum was treated with great dignity until the end. Thank you all so very, very much.

My Dad moved to the home last October due to a change in his physical abilities. My initial contact was over the phone and email as I was not able to visit the home prior to Dads admission. The manager was so helpful emailing photos of the rooms available and spending time on the phone. She is also
very caring and understanding and this reflects in all of the staff in the home. When I was able to visit Dad, I found the staff helpful and friendly and very patient with him. Any issues regarding his care were reported to me promptly.
Since his admission, I feel like I have got my Dad back again. He looks well cared for and when I call him he sounds happy and back to his old self. I am delighted and very grateful to everyone at the home.

The Ellenborough Nursing & Residential Care Home is like going to Grandmas House. It's clean and welcoming, the staff are always at hand for any questions and make you aware of any new legislation.
The residents all look well looked after with smart clean clothes which show the staff take great care
in coordinating colours on each resident. There is always a board for lunch with a choice of mains and desserts with home cooked food. In fact, I would not mind lunch at
The Ellenborough Nursing & Residential Care Home myself. Even the fish and chips!
They have a singer that comes in, someone to do nails and hair, exercise and bingo which makes for happy residents which everyone seems. We have been visiting mum now for 4/5 years and the standards never change. I have never had any issues with the home. Its so good to have peace of mind with my much-loved mother.

I live in Canada and having my aunt in such a good care facility takes a huge weight off my mind. I chose The Ellenborough Nursing & Residential Care Home several years ago because three unrelated persons each put the home in the top three they would recommend. She had a very bad bronchial infection
in January and her care and the information related to me was above reproach. I find the staff from the manager down very helpful, caring, respectful and knowledgeable. My aunt feels very relaxed and at home at Ellenborough. I visit several times a year and am made most welcome, in the interim I receive frequent e-mails keeping me up to date on my aunt's condition.

Once again stopping at the above was an excellent stay. The staff were excellent, rooms were very clean, as was the rest of the home.
As for the food, it was excellent for all my stay. If nursing homes are all like this one, there shouldn't be a problem. All in all, it was a great and relaxing stay.
Keep up the good work at Ellenborough, and once again, Thank you!

My father was discharged from Hospital on 14th July at 4:15pm and arrived at Ellenborough Nursing Home, he was greeted by the staff, who were very friendly, caring and made dad feel safe which enabled myself and mum to know he was in very safe hands, which gave us peace of mind. When it was time for
us to leave Mum and I knew in our hears that we have made the best decision for Ellenborough Nursing Home to give excellent love and care in a very homely environment.

My friend recommended this nursing home as her Mother had been a resident a few years ago. We were warmly welcomed by the manager, who showed us the rooms that were available and the sitting rooms etc. The whole place seemed friendly, calm, clean, warm, welcoming and very well run with no unpleasant
" hospital" smells. My Father was there for about 11 weeks and we felt very confident that he was in the best possible place. l felt he was very much a person to them, not just a resident and that they genuinely cared about him, nothing seemed too much trouble. The thing that l especially liked, was that all the staff chatted to him, from the Manager to the lady who cleaned his room, not just the staff in charge of his personal care. They did everything they could to ensure he was comfortable and the whole family felt we could not have made a better choice, we are very grateful for everything they did for him.

My mum was living at Ellenborough for 4 years 3 months. Generally my mum and I were very satisfied overall. Since mum became very ill after Christmas, the care, love, respect and dignity given to mum, myself and other relatives was second to none. Helping to enable my mother to 'die a good death'.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.572)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.572) out of 10 for The Ellenborough Nursing & Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.972 for The Ellenborough Nursing & Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.972
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Ellenborough Nursing & Residential Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
