Living overseas, I am not able to visit my mother too often but recently visited every day for one week. I was pleased to find my mother in a much better mental state than on previous visits, the care provided her being the main positive contributing factor. I was very impressed by the genuine care,
and attention given to my mother. I would not hesitate to recommend Albert House.

I would recommend Albert House, as in my opinion, it is one of the best in the area. The staff and management are excellent and very friendly which makes for a good atmosphere. My father settled in very quickly due to their professional care.
Reply from Adrian Esland, Director at Albert House Nursing Home

Thank you for providing your feedback and the whole team is saddened that we failed to meet your father's expectations. Please do me a favour and give us a ring to explain what was wrong with the activities, food and drink so that we can learn and improve in future.

Mum was in Albert House for a short time, but the care she received was excellent. She was treated with dignity. The staff were all lovely and very kind. The food and cleanliness were very good. The management run a very good, caring home and the residents needs always come first. Thank you Albert House.

Albert House looked after my mum for what turned out to be the last four weeks of her life. With hindsight, we would not have wanted her to be anywhere else. From the first visit to the last, we were hugely impressed with all the staff at Albert House. Always someone on hand to help and nothing was
too much trouble. We were recommended to the place by a family member and would have no hesitation in giving an unconditional recommendation to anyone else.

Mother was in Albert House for 17 months. She was always treated with exceptional care and respect by all the staff and managers. She enjoyed the food and regular activities. Following a stroke her 'end of life' care was outstanding and she was treated with dignity. I cannot find any fault in Albert
House and their services.

I needed to find a nursing home for my father, who had been very poorly in hospital and Albert House was recommended to me.
The registered manager and another staff member could have not been more helpful with helping my father move from hospital into a lovely ground floor room.
My father's health,
unfortunately, continued to decline and sadly passed away within 7 weeks.
My father was given the best care by all the staff that I saw. It was obvious that great care was taken to chat with him and listen to him. Though my father ate very little as time went on, all meals came out to him and were of variety and good quality, down to the pureed meals towards the end.
Though my father was not well enough to visit the lounges and dining room, it was obvious that they were well used and pleasant, with every effort to make residents and family feel at home.
the manager and her staff went above and beyond what I expected to help our family through a difficult time. I would recommend Albert House to anyone.

My first visit was welcoming, clean, bright and lovely. There was a stunning Christmas display at the entrance. The manager walked me through the premises, where the standard continued to be high. The room was shown to me - it was clean, bright, spacious, a patio door leading out to a courtyard with
pots, seats, bird feeder and fountain. I was overwhelmed by having to select a nursing home, but the staff were very supportive.
Families are given a code to exit the home, but visitors have to be let into the home for safety.
Families are encouraged to visit - babies, toddlers and dogs, cats which is lovely.
The food is amazing - mum was a fussy eater and was always offered something to suit her. Hot drinks are offered constantly.
Rooms are cleaned daily. There is a laundry service. There is a hairdressing and chiropodist service, daily newspapers etc (at extra cost).
I witnessed fab activities for the residents.
I cannot recommend this nursing home enough.

The Albert Nursing Home has looked after my 96-year-old father-in-law for the past 9 months. The care and attention to his wellbeing has been excellent. They made his last months extremely comfortable and attended to him in every way possible. I could not ask more from the staff and management. Almost
a Home from Home!

The family members are very pleased with the people, premises and care provision at Albert House. The service user was a resident for 15 months and throughout that time the lady experienced kindness, compassion and good quality care. In particular the extra care given at the end of life stage was undertaken
with professionalism and tenderness. We are grateful to the leadership team and all medical and support staff at Albert House for trying their very best to make it 'home from home' for the service user.

My wife became very ill the day she was discharged from hospital, after a long illness and move to Albert House Nursing Home. However, late that night 3 am I was called to the home together with my son to say my wife was very ill.
At the home, we were met by the manager, nurser and doctor. They were
all concerned about her health and ambulance was called. As a result, my wife was removed to a hospital in Taunton. We were told by a senior doctor that she had a 50/50 chance of survival.
She apparently had suffered a heart attack, pneumonia and blood poisoning.
She was given a single room for her safety, however, thank god she recovered and returned to Alber House after five days where she was fondly looked after by the various staff. They have done a wonderful thing in returning my wife to better health. I am thanking them all for this. If it hadn't been for the early surveillance of the nurse, manager and doctor then it would have been fatal.

My father was admitted, after a long hospital stay, at short notice but Albert House helped him to settle quickly and looked after him, taking his personal choices into account. The nursing and management staff were always available to discuss any particular problems regarding my fathers care. They
also gave me understanding and support at a difficult time.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.070)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.070) out of 10 for Albert House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.682 for Albert House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (15 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 22 Ratings = 4.682
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.388 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Albert House Nursing Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.263
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
