The Manor House Nursing Home is an attractive nursing home for older people located in the district of Uphill, close to the Weston Super Mare town-centre.

The 200-year-old heritage building has 22 rooms, all tastefully decorated and with good facilities and amenities.

There is an accommodating lounge area which looks onto south facing gardens, hairdressing salon and residents/relative kitchens for free access to coffee, tea and light refreshments.

At The Manor House, person-centred, non-discriminatory care is provided for all clients, and the dignity of individuals is respected at all times.

The philosophy of the home includes ensuring that the residents feel 'at home' in a safe environment. The home endeavors to exceed the national minimum standards of care as described by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The aim of the home is for residents to keep their own identity and individuality.

The Manor House has a warm and friendly atmosphere with all the comforts one would expect from a nursing home that includes twenty-four-hour nursing care from professionally qualified nurses and carers.

A visiting Chiropodist will attend to your podiatry requirements. A Hairdresser visits the home once a fortnight.

The activity coordinator organises and offers various activities to stimulate the residents mentally and physically, including outside entertainment, small trips etc.

The activity coordinator also organises celebrations during the year which include Christmas, Easter, bonfire night, fairs, etc.

They encourage visits by clergymen of all denominations to visit the nursing home to provide for the spiritual needs of the residents. There is a monthly service within the home. Alternatively, you may wish to attend your own church with family or friends.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother has recently moved to The Manor House after a long stay in hospital. Since her arrival, she has been treated with kindness, dignity and professionalism. She has been given the encouragement and support she needs to enable her to enjoy her time in this peaceful home where activities and entertainment
are provided with enthusiasm. Thank you.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.491) out of 10 for The Manor House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.941 for The Manor House is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 68 Ratings = 4.941
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Manor House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2022

Summer is a dedicated and compassionate Care home manager with over a decade of experience in the healthcare sector. Her career journey has been driven by a deep commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents and fostering a supportive and enriching environment for the staff.

Personal statement:

As a care home manager, my deepest motivation is to create a place that feels like home—for those who live here and those who work here. I believe a care home should be more than just a safe and well-run environment; it should be a community built on trust, compassion, and genuine connection.

With over 15 years of experience in health and social care, I’ve learned that outstanding care begins with listening, empathy, and a commitment to treating every individual with dignity and respect. I take pride in leading teams that are not only skilled and professional but also kind-hearted and dedicated to making a difference.

I work hard to foster a culture where staff feel valued and supported, and where residents feel truly seen and heard. Whether it’s through personalised care plans, meaningful activities, or simply a warm smile, my goal is to ensure every person feels they belong.

I’m passionate about continuous improvement and maintaining the highest standards, but I never lose sight of the human side of care. I want every resident to feel at peace, every family to feel reassured, and every team member to feel proud of the work they do.

Together, we can build a home where life is celebrated, care is heartfelt, and everyone matters.
