I think the care home is average as I have only been to 3 homes since I have been ill. The food is all right, and the staff are average, but enjoy a good laugh. The activities are all right when I attend them.

I think Stanshawes Care Home is quite good, the food is lovely. I think the way the staff are keeping us informed and the communication so we can speak to our Nan is brilliant, and from what I have seen, the care home is amazing and keep the resident's spirits up.

Mum has been a resident for several years and is very pleased with the level of care she receives, and also with the response to her concerns when things go wrong.

I find the staff friendly, helpful, and most of all, willing to support whenever we request something from them.

Mum has been in Stanshawes for four years. The home had reacted quickly to the current situation. They have kept the residents safe. Mum's birthday 12th December was originally going to involve a visit in the pod but had to be cancelled and they had to lockdown. However, the entertainment coordinator organised a zoom call for the family. Mum loved it.

Thank you Stanshawes for the wonderful job you are doing.

Although the management has been extremely careful about Covid, they are not taking the residents mental health into consideration. We are so lucky that the carers are so friendly and kind to the residents.

The care and nursing staff work hard but often shorthanded which means dad is left in his chair when he would like to go to bed. Rooms need redecorating and refurnishing though bed is good.

Mum seems to be happy and settled here. Most of the staff treat her well - she said some are rougher than others. Mum enjoyed the visit by the zoo-lab.

My main criticism is to do with the wrong ambulance being ordered for mums hospital visit. This was extremely inconvenient and annoying. Mum had got herself all geared up for her procedure and I had taken a day off work only for it to have to be cancelled due to an error by the home.

I have only experienced the care given in this home so my knowledge is not exactly wide. As far as I can tell, the care provided is up to "normal" standards.

Now and then, I have noted that staffing levels can fall short of the needs. Staff can be observed hurrying around trying to fit all their tasks in time. However, I have not had any serious concerns about the level of care given to my mother.

Review from J F (Sister-in-law of Resident) published on 26 September 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My Sister-in-Law has only been a resident since June but the staff provided the facilities and refreshments for a lovely 80th celebration tea for 15+ people. Our overall experience so far has been good, with friendly staff always obliging to requests for assistance etc. My sister-in-Law, when questioned, says she is well cared for and likes the staff. Whilst we all acknowledge this is sadly an unhappy and difficult period the staff do a very good job - our thanks to them.

I enjoy living here but sometimes I get upset if my teeth aren't always brushed. I think the care is of a good standard but some carers are better than others. I enjoy the activities. I think the food isn't too bad. Living here is mostly ok.

I would like my room to be a bit bigger, but everything else is ok. I feel safe here and I get on well with the staff. The food is ok, but I would like a lot more variety. The home is clean. I am unable to attend group activities this is due to my medical needs and personal choice.
