After 5 and a half years at Amberley House on December 23rd, 2022, she was taken care of in a professional and pastoral way. Her 4 children were able to carry on knowing that Mum was in the best place possible. We are all very grateful and remember her last years with stoicism and philosophical conversations. We had plenty of time to say goodbye and therefore the grief afterward was minimal.
Thank you for your kind words, Caroline. We all remember your mother very fondly and still miss her.
From the moment my husband was admitted and I visited, I could tell he was going to be happy and well looked after there. I had no reservations whatsoever. Amberly House felt and was run like a neat home. I was made to feel so welcome by each and every member of staff, who were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. You only had to visit once and you could feel how much they not only cared about every resident but treated them with love and understanding. I've never experienced a care home as good and welcoming as Amberley House.
Thank you for your lovely review and kind words about Amberley House.
The care my father received since he came in for respite to enable him to become independent has been first-class. He was given his privacy and respect. Unfortunately, as his health declined, the nursing care and professionalism increased, and the staff were always on hand to liaise with the doctors and myself. Everyone from the manager, secretary, maintenance, chef, entertainment, cleaners, and "laundry girls" to the excellent nurses and carers, both by day and night, became like family to me and my second home, for which I thank them from the bottom of my heart. Amberley provides a wonderful, caring service and have pleasure in recommending this home.
Dear Kate, thank you so much for your kind words. Your father was a pleasure to loo after; all the staff enjoyed spending time chatting with him and assisting him with his needs.
My mother resided at Amberley for the last 18 months of her life until she passed away peacefully in April 2023. During her time at Amberley, my mother was well cared for, and the staff were always very caring and kind, which was reassuring for me and my family, and they always had time to talk to us and keep us updated. Mum loved the staff here, and even though Mum found life difficult since having a stroke, the staff always managed to make her smile. For me and my family, that speaks volumes. I and my family feel blessed that Mum spent the last stage of her life in such a caring environment. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words, Bridget. Your mother was a delightful lady and a pleasure to look after; she is missed by us all.
I write this just a few days after a very close beautiful friend passed away at Amberley. The staff team led by the manager were truly wonderful. Their care, kindness and love for my friend was professional, remarkable and also showed dignity and respect. The home has to be one of the best I have been part of. ( my experience of fifty years in the profession) All the staff could not have loved her more. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. Your friend was a delight to look after and she is greatly missed by all of us.
Everyone at Amberley House Nursing Home has been first-class in caring for my mother. All staff are very caring and friendly and I can rest assured that my mother is very well looked after and always comfortable.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. It's much appreciated by the team at Amberley.
The front outside of the building is looking tired and could do with some tlc, before it goes to far as this would not only encure more to rectify but a more financial burden if left too long.
Thank you for your lovely review and kind words about Amberley House. You will be pleased to hear that work is planned to start in the next couple of months on improvements to the home, which will include the exterior.
My overall experience of Amberley House is good. My mother-in-law is very happy here and thinks a lot of the staff working there; they are very caring, and nothing is too much trouble. It's just a pity that they are so short-staffed. Mum loves all the entertainment.
Dear Sandra, we appreciate you sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to have your mother-in-law with us. Our team works extremely hard to maintain tailored care for our residents. We take all our feedback seriously and are sorry to hear that you experienced the home being understaffed....
After an unfortunate fall in a Residential Home in Newquay, my Mother gained the need for full Nursing care. She was rehomed at Amberley House in Truro where she has received an excellent standard of care. The Carers, Nurses and Management do everything possible the ensure my Mother is comfortable. I would have no hesitation recommending Amberley House.
Thank you Keith for your feedback. Our staff are all committed to delivering the best possible care and it's very rewarding to have their effort recognised.
From my wife's first introduction to Amberley House Nursing Home in September 2021 through to her passing on 29th July 2022, the care and attention given to her always inspired the confidence of my family and myself that her security and comforts were well catered for. All staff including those in management and administration were efficient, patient, kind and gentle and indications of health issues were observed quickly and suitably treated. I, therefore, have no reservations in my recommendation of the establishment to any prospective enquiries for residents in need of nursing and/or concentrated care.
Thank you for your kind feedback. We appreciate you recognising our staff's efforts and will forward your warm sentiments to the home team. Kind regards, Lindsay.
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Amberley House for the support given to my father in the last four months of his life. One thing we learned through our daily visits to Amberley House is that the job of a professional carer is anything but “unskilled labour”. All those who cared for my father were well-trained for their difficult role, as well as being friendly, approachable, competent, and discreet. They are too many to mention by name, but we especially appreciated the perseverance of those who cared for him most regularly – they know who they are. All our contacts with the management and administrative team were straightforward and friendly, and in spite of covid restrictions, you always demonstrated flexibility and patience whenever we needed to change the time of our daily visits. All in all, Amberley provided a thoroughly reliable service and our family will be singing its praises for years to come.
Thank you for your kind words. It was a privilege to care for your father and lovely to get to know you all.
I have had the experience of visiting a number of friends, family, and distant relatives, who have had to reside in a variety of care homes over the years. Thankfully, most of them have lived up to expectations of what the minimum standard of care is required from such establishments. Amberley House is not one of them. If I were to rate the standard of care provided from all the care homes with which I have had contact, Amberley House would rank in the lowest possible position. Don't get me wrong, there are many care assistants who are wonderful and are doing a brilliant job against incredible pressures. Also, the catering team does a fantastic job. However, there are certain people in Amberley House - (I am not allowed to name them but I quote the Review Policy Standards which state - "Please do not use names (Job titles/positions are acceptable)" who fall dramatically below these standards. The Manager is the problem!
We would however like to take this opportunity to remind the person who has left this review that all care homes and staff have a responsibility to respect...
This was a second visit to Amberley House, and we were so pleased to see the alterations, provision of a lift etc. My husband came for two weeks respite to enable me to have a rest after a difficult 3 months. The care here is wonderful, likes and dislikes are noted, and although the staff are busy, they took time to talk to both my husband and others who visited him. Amberley has a real warmth and a very caring ambience.
Amberley was very welcoming, from the first point of contact they were helpful and made a very difficult end of life care decision, much more reassuring. Without exception, all members of staff were very caring and professional and there is a lovely balance between all the nursing, carers and admin team. Everyone was very respectful of both their resident's needs and visitors also.
When I first visited Amberley House Nursing Home, although recommended I found it a little "shabby chic" but soon learnt that the care was second to none, the staff dedicated and humorous and most had been there years! As I visited almost daily they are all now my friends as well. The residents look well and happy and everything seemed to be under control I am happy to say alterations have now been carried out at the property which looks great. This is a very well run nursing home.
I found the staff friendly and knowledgeable, treated with respect and dignity.
I recommend Amberley House both for condolence and long term living. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly and it feels like a real home rather than a "care home". The staff without exception do everything possible to make life as pleasant as circumstances allow, and always with a smile and personal greeting. The food is delicious and plentiful with several choices for each meal, not forgetting the afternoon tea trolley, often with delicious home made cakes. I am very grateful for all the care I received during my six weeks stay.
The staff at Amberley are professional, hard working and caring. The facilities are dated (no en-suites, two in a room) but the atmosphere is happy and unstressed. The meals are first class and personal choice accommodated without problems. The management locally is excellent and the manager has independence to make decisions without retribution form above. Resident do not appear to be regarded as cash providers, they are valued, elderly sick friends.
