My husband went to Eshcol House for one week's respite at the beginning of July 2022. Following a fall and broken hip the previous Christmas, he had become completely bed-bound and unable to do very much for himself. He was very lucky that a lovely ground-floor room was available for him, overlooking the sea, and he also had a subscription TV service so could watch his beloved golf. He was very happy there and couldn't praise the staff enough - always cheerful and friendly.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We'd sometimes sit in there and watch the golf with him during our breaks and he was good company. All the very best in the future to you and the family.
Mum has been at Eshcol for more than 3 years since a bad fall left her immobile. She also suffers from other health issues. She is not necessarily the easiest of residents to please but in all her time there all the staff have been very helpful, caring and kind. Covid restrictions have made life challenging for staff, residents and visitors but whilst maintaining all necessary precautions I have always felt that the staff have done everything they could to make life as 'normal' as possible for the residents. I have always been greeted by all staff with a smile and a friendly hello, even when it is necessary for that to be behind a mask. I think that the highest praise I can give is that, should I ever need the type of care which Eshcol provides, I would choose to be there myself.
"I would choose to be there myself" - high praise indeed. Thank you so much for these kind words which I have just read aloud to the team. It's comforting to know that all our efforts are appreciated by the family. Your mum is our resident poet and her turn of phrase is fascinating; we always look forward to a new poem.
My 89-year-old Mum was placed in Eshcol House by the NHS for convalescent care until she is fit to go home after a fractured leg. While the location isn't close to us, it's beautiful when you get there and I feel that Mum's placement here has been very fortunate. All the staff have been lovely and they've been providing a high standard of care for my Mum. She has especially enjoyed her outings organised by the Home and I have peace of mind that she's been safe during her convalescence.
Thank you so much for these kind words. It's a shame that our only available room was on the small side but at least it meant that her admission could go ahead. Hopefully, your mum will be homeward-bound soon but we'll always be here if you need us again.
Mum has been here a few months now and has settled in well. The staff are always cheerful and welcoming whilst looking after the residents (a difficult task) making it a home from home. Lovely place, fantastic views.
We are so pleased to read that you are happy with how your mum is faring. One of our activity staff accompanies her round the village every day he is on and she is on nodding terms with quite a few of the local villagers. At least with her chair she has no problems with the hills around here but the activity chap has trouble keeping up!
Eshcol House has been my husband's home since November 2020. I visit him every week and am always greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. The staff look after all his needs very well indeed. He enjoys some of the activities that have been put on for the residents, especially the musical events. He likes the food and I have eaten there myself and it is delicious. There have been a few management turnovers since his arrival, but the current manager is very good. All staff are approachable, very friendly and always make my visits enjoyable in sometimes heartbreaking circumstances.
Thank you for your review, Carole. We do understand how upsetting the visits can be and are happy that you find us supportive. Yes, our manager is now back firmly in the Eshcol saddle. In truth, she never left but was in the background for a while when two other managers came and went. She has been...
Really friendly staff, who obviously care deeply for the residents in their care.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us this review.
Eshcol staff are an incredibly friendly bunch and are always happy to help with any queries we may have relating to Dad's care. Everyone is very accommodating when it comes to arranging visits. The atmosphere's good and both staff and residents always seem to have smiles on their faces.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Pete, which I have shared with the team. It's always a pleasure to see your dad down in the lounge watching a movie with us and drinking a G&T (him, not us!). He's very good company and seems very much at home here.
My very dear friend went into Eshcol about 2 years ago; after a short stay in hospital he wasn't expected to survive for long being on palliative care but he surprised us all. I'm sure it's all down to the care and attention he received while being at the home. I did ask him what he thought about Ashcol, he said with a smile, 'Incredible, the food's good and tasty with variation'. The home is situated overlooking Portscatho Bay, a very idyllic and beautiful place to recuperate. I would recommend the home to anyone. I wish the staff happy and healthy life in the future and carry on the fantastic work you're all doing. Regards to all.
Thank you so much, Wally, for these lovely words. I've just read them out to the team and it's made us feel renewed pride in what we do. We all wish you the very best of health and may only good things happen.
Despite the shortness of his time with you, as a family we saw care done at a level we have never witnessed before. The deep care and attention to his needs were amazing, but you became outstandingly excellent in the way you cared for my Mum and the rest of the family through the last few weeks of his life. I want to say that Eshcol talked about wanting my father to come and be part of their family, even before he arrived. They made that a living reality for us all. Eshcol is simply that - family. My father spent his last days with you and was happy, loved and cared for deeply, we honestly couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you!
Wow, Maureen, your kind words have really touched us. We too wish your dad had lived longer as he was so sweet to us all and a pleasure to look after. A truism about having a loved one in a care home is that we, the staff, end up getting to know visiting families almost as well as the resident...
I find the home to be outstanding. Whenever I ring it is never too much trouble to take the phone to my brother-in-law despite, I am sure, the staff being busy. Furthermore, the dietary considerations are excellent (my brother-in-law is vegetarian) and he really enjoys his meals. I should also like to mention the cleanliness of the whole home which again is to a very high standard. Finally, I could not complete this brief review without mentioning the Clinical Assessor who is always helpful and positive and is a very good representative for Eshcol House Nursing Home.
Thank you so much, Michael, for these lovely words which I have shared with the team. Our head housekeeper was standing beside me when I read out the review and she was especially proud that you'd mentioned the cleanliness of the home. There is a fantastic housekeeping team, in fact, all our team...
My Mum has been at Eshcol for a number of years. The staff are all so lovely and caring, they have got to know Mum well and although so sad she is in a home I couldn't wish for her to be anywhere better. Always welcoming to us when visiting (even allowing us to bring our puppy - welcomed with doggy biscuits!) And flexible on visiting times due to travel times for us. The home is fortunate to be in a beautiful location and Mum has an amazing sea view and is able to enjoy the coming and going of the boats out at sea.
It's always a pleasure to welcome you and the human and furry gang, Hannah. We try and be as flexible as we can be regarding visitors and this only changed for a while due to Covid. Thank you for your kind words which I have shared with the team.
Wonderfully genuine members of staff. Nothing was too much trouble for us as visitors and mum-in-law looked very well looked after. Thank you so much for the care and thoughtfulness towards mum. We will be forever in your debt as we can not be there as much as we would want to.
That is so kind of you to leave this review for us. We have many visitors to the building and usually they leave and we can only assume that they are pleased with what they have seen and heard. For you to actually spend the time to have put this in print is a lovely thing and we are delighted that you found your mother-in-law to be on fine form.
I would like to say how amazing this place has been with caring for and managing my mum's complex needs. They have gone above and beyond and all staff encounters I have had have all been very positive with a friendly team. This place has been a blessing to myself and the family, can't thank them enough.
We are all so pleased that you and the family feel we are meeting your mum's needs so well. Despite all her problems your mum is always so polite and grateful to us and really seems to benefit from the garden and sea views that her room has. Thank you so much for your review which I just read out to the team.
My neighbour was admitted to Eshcol as he was very ill in the hospital. During his stay, he was well looked after but sadly died after a few weeks. He was taken there for palliative care, and I think they were good. I went to visit him with his wife, and we could go in as often as we wanted. They were all so lovely, and he seemed comfortable and pain-free. Thank you to the staff.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Pauline. Giving someone a good death is very important to us and we pride ourself on our palliative care standards. I have shared your review with the team and it's given us a lift to our day.
I cannot rate Eshcol House Nursing Home highly enough. Their care and attention go the extra mile. My godmother, due to her mental state, was unsettled when she first arrived from upcountry, and the staff have done everything in their capability to welcome and settle her. All the staff, kitchen, carers and all other persons who work within the home are always there, and very attentive to any needs or requests, and I would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone placing a loved one into care.
I've just read your review out to the team, Kerry, and we are all beaming in unison. Thank you so much.
Excellent nurses, doctors, admin staff and health care personnel are always willing to help my mother and her needs. They are always on the phone keeping us up to date and giving the care our mother needs. Wonderful care home in a great location they even give Mother little treats such as days out and haircuts which she likes. The staff there are so friendly and always willing to help visitors out. Whatever food Mother requests they always provide for her. It is always clean in the care home and the health care assistants and staff there are just amazing. The bonus is you can visit any time you want.
Thank you for such a lovely review, Shaun. We are so pleased that your mum has settled so well and she always has a smile for us all. I will share your review with the team and it makes us happy to know that you feel we are meeting her needs so well.
Eschol House and all of the team have and continue to, operate with outstanding professionalism. We are always impressed by how genuine and caring everyone who works there is. On arrival, we are always welcomed with the warmest reception and always kept fully updated with any developments. Communications are very frequent and consistent with exceptional high standards of care and consideration for our family member who is a resident. It is really remarkable that all of the staff are so diligent in the execution of their duties and they go to immeasurable lengths to ensure exceptional care. The team have always delivered to the highest standards and it is a pleasure to see such a fantastic system in operation particularly during the pandemic. It is a credit to them all for their outstanding performance. I would wholeheartedly recommend this care home and know from experience in the medical sector how special they are.
Iain, we were all so pleased and proud to read your comments. Our thanks for them. I can remember meeting your relative for the first time when I visited her in hospital and she then shared with me her initial worries about life in a care home. Those worries were soon put behind her and she continues to live happy times here.
My father has been living at Eschol for a number of years now. He initially struggled to settle and we were given some good advice from the staff. When lockdown hit, the staff worked tirelessly to protect and support him, keeping him Covid free. I appreciate how hard they must have worked during that time. He has settled so well. Staff are friendly and engaging and always make us feel welcome as visitors. Dad's room is cosy and comfortable. His view is amazing and he loves looking out over the ocean! We feel very fortunate.
Thank you for such a nice review. It is so rewarding watching a new resident, initially reluctant, gradually settle in and begin to like us. I keep reminding him to come down to the lounge to enjoy a G&T and TV but his room is so nice I don't blame him for wanting to stay put.
Staff at Eschol are warm, welcoming, hospitable, collaborative, and responsive. When residents express a faith or would just like to talk with a minister, staff ensure that they are referred to me. I am grateful to the Eshcol team for their willingness to work with me to ensure that the residents receive spiritual care when they request it. Staff always accommodate my visits and do all they can to facilitate anything that I might need to serve the residents. The confidentiality of the patients is treated with the utmost respect by all concerned. Eschol is an outward-looking nursing home, an important part of the local community. I am pleased to be included in communications and invited to any open events and meetings.
Thank you so much for these lovely words which I have just read out to the team. You've been part of Eshcol life for many years now and even when Covid regulations stopped access in person you maintained contact with some of our residents with your lovely cards and notes, always knowing exactly...
The staff are always friendly and helpful. I am allowed to visit my dad whenever I like, provided it is prearranged, and we are left alone. If I need help, there is always someone willing to assist. Despite the high temperatures we have had over the last few weeks, the home is always comfortable. Dad is happy, which makes me happy. He has a great view of the sea, which I know he likes.
Thank you so much for your kind review. I'm glad that you feel your dad is well looked after. The smile on his face when he sees you enter his room is like that credit card ad - priceless.
