Eshcol House Nursing Home is a wonderful place to live, located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property is situated a very short distance from the beach, and the views from many of the rooms are truly exceptional, from the Portscatho beaches 'Tatums' and 'The Porth' across Gerrans Bay with the famous Gull Rock, Nare Head and Dodman Point in full view. The gardens are pretty with numerous places and opportunities to relax and enjoy the breath taking views.
The team are very pleased to have counted many former locals from the village amongst their residents and they feel a special bond with the community.

The very friendly and proficient management team and all the lovely staff have a wide range of expertise and knowledge, and everyone really enjoys working together to make every day special for the lovely residents.

Whilst being a homely environment, Eshcol House is well stocked with any necessary equipment to help residents who need more help to make the most of their day. The home also have their own accessible minibus for trips out to places of interest, alongside dedicated activities staff to ensure everyone has a variety of things to do, to encourage the lovely communal feel the home has developed over the years.

The local GP surgery is round a very short corner and the home has a named doctor who is their contact. On admission your relative will be transferred to this practice and will meet the doctor at the earliest opportunity for a review.

Mum has been at Eshcol for more than 3 years since a bad fall left her immobile. She also suffers from other health issues. She is not necessarily the easiest of residents to please but in all her time there all the staff have been very helpful, caring and kind. Covid restrictions have made life challenging
for staff, residents and visitors but whilst maintaining all necessary precautions I have always felt that the staff have done everything they could to make life as 'normal' as possible for the residents. I have always been greeted by all staff with a smile and a friendly hello, even when it is necessary for that to be behind a mask. I think that the highest praise I can give is that, should I ever need the type of care which Eshcol provides, I would choose to be there myself.

My 89-year-old Mum was placed in Eshcol House by the NHS for convalescent care until she is fit to go home after a fractured leg. While the location isn't close to us, it's beautiful when you get there and I feel that Mum's placement here has been very fortunate. All the staff have been lovely and they've
been providing a high standard of care for my Mum. She has especially enjoyed her outings organised by the Home and I have peace of mind that she's been safe during her convalescence.

Mum has been here a few months now and has settled in well. The staff are always cheerful and welcoming whilst looking after the residents (a difficult task) making it a home from home. Lovely place, fantastic views.

One of our activity staff accompanies her round the village every day he is on and she is on nodding terms with quite a few of the local villagers. Eshcol House has been my husband's home since November 2020. I visit him every week and am always greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. The staff look after all his needs very well indeed. He enjoys some of the activities that have been put on for the residents, especially the musical events. He
likes the food and I have eaten there myself and it is delicious. There have been a few management turnovers since his arrival, but the current manager is very good. All staff are approachable, very friendly and always make my visits enjoyable in sometimes heartbreaking circumstances.

Thank you for your review, Carole. We do understand how upsetting the visits can be and are happy that you find us supportive. Yes, our manager is now back firmly in the Eshcol saddle. In truth, she never left but was in the background for a while when two other managers came and went. She has been here for about 13 years and was always involved in the leadership of the home. I'm coming up to my ten-year Eshcol anniversary so that's a couple of us that have done our Eshcol time.

My very dear friend went into Eshcol about 2 years ago; after a short stay in hospital he wasn't expected to survive for long being on palliative care but he surprised us all. I'm sure it's all down to the care and attention he received while being at the home. I did ask him what he thought about Ashcol,
he said with a smile, 'Incredible, the food's good and tasty with variation'. The home is situated overlooking Portscatho Bay, a very idyllic and beautiful place to recuperate. I would recommend the home to anyone. I wish the staff happy and healthy life in the future and carry on the fantastic work you're all doing. Regards to all.

My father had 68 days of happiness with you! How we wish he'd lived longer!
Despite the shortness of his time with you, as a family we saw care done at a level we have never witnessed before. The deep care and attention to his needs were amazing, but you became outstandingly excellent in the way you
cared for my Mum and the rest of the family through the last few weeks of his life. I want to say that Eshcol talked about wanting my father to come and be part of their family, even before he arrived. They made that a living reality for us all. Eshcol is simply that - family. My father spent his last days with you and was happy, loved and cared for deeply, we honestly couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you!

I find the home to be outstanding. Whenever I ring it is never too much trouble to take the phone to my brother-in-law despite, I am sure, the staff being busy. Furthermore, the dietary considerations are excellent (my brother-in-law is vegetarian) and he really enjoys his meals. I should also like
to mention the cleanliness of the whole home which again is to a very high standard. Finally, I could not complete this brief review without mentioning the Clinical Assessor who is always helpful and positive and is a very good representative for Eshcol House Nursing Home.

My Mum has been at Eshcol for a number of years. The staff are all so lovely and caring, they have got to know Mum well and although so sad she is in a home I couldn't wish for her to be anywhere better. Always welcoming to us when visiting (even allowing us to bring our puppy - welcomed with doggy
biscuits!) And flexible on visiting times due to travel times for us. The home is fortunate to be in a beautiful location and Mum has an amazing sea view and is able to enjoy the coming and going of the boats out at sea.

My neighbour was admitted to Eshcol as he was very ill in the hospital. During his stay, he was well looked after but sadly died after a few weeks. He was taken there for palliative care, and I think they were good. I went to visit him with his wife, and we could go in as often as we wanted. They were
all so lovely, and he seemed comfortable and pain-free. Thank you to the staff.

I cannot rate Eshcol House Nursing Home highly enough. Their care and attention go the extra mile. My godmother, due to her mental state, was unsettled when she first arrived from upcountry, and the staff have done everything in their capability to welcome and settle her. All the staff, kitchen, carers
and all other persons who work within the home are always there, and very attentive to any needs or requests, and I would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone placing a loved one into care.

Excellent nurses, doctors, admin staff and health care personnel are always willing to help my mother and her needs. They are always on the phone keeping us up to date and giving the care our mother needs. Wonderful care home in a great location they even give Mother little treats such as days out and
haircuts which she likes. The staff there are so friendly and always willing to help visitors out. Whatever food Mother requests they always provide for her. It is always clean in the care home and the health care assistants and staff there are just amazing. The bonus is you can visit any time you want.

Eschol House and all of the team have and continue to, operate with outstanding professionalism. We are always impressed by how genuine and caring everyone who works there is. On arrival, we are always welcomed with the warmest reception and always kept fully updated with any developments. Communications
are very frequent and consistent with exceptional high standards of care and consideration for our family member who is a resident. It is really remarkable that all of the staff are so diligent in the execution of their duties and they go to immeasurable lengths to ensure exceptional care. The team have always delivered to the highest standards and it is a pleasure to see such a fantastic system in operation particularly during the pandemic. It is a credit to them all for their outstanding performance. I would wholeheartedly recommend this care home and know from experience in the medical sector how special they are.

My father has been living at Eschol for a number of years now. He initially struggled to settle and we were given some good advice from the staff. When lockdown hit, the staff worked tirelessly to protect and support him, keeping him Covid free. I appreciate how hard they must have worked during that
time. He has settled so well. Staff are friendly and engaging and always make us feel welcome as visitors. Dad's room is cosy and comfortable. His view is amazing and he loves looking out over the ocean! We feel very fortunate.

Staff at Eschol are warm, welcoming, hospitable, collaborative, and responsive. When residents express a faith or would just like to talk with a minister, staff ensure that they are referred to me. I am grateful to the Eshcol team for their willingness to work with me to ensure that the residents receive
spiritual care when they request it. Staff always accommodate my visits and do all they can to facilitate anything that I might need to serve the residents. The confidentiality of the patients is treated with the utmost respect by all concerned. Eschol is an outward-looking nursing home, an important part of the local community. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I am allowed to visit my dad whenever I like, provided it is prearranged, and we are left alone. If I need help, there is always someone willing to assist. Despite the high temperatures we have had over the last few weeks, the home is always comfortable. Dad
is happy, which makes me happy. He has a great view of the sea, which I know he likes.

Mum was admitted in December 2019 for respite care and didn’t recover her strength enough to return home before the Covid 19 lockdowns struck and her former care at home became impossible to organise. Despite all the challenges that followed, the care staff have maintained a lovely warm family environment
where they don't just care for Mum, they care about her too.
