I can only offer high praise for the care given by all the staff at Cadogan Court to my mother who arrived there in February 2020. My mother is receiving end of life care and is treated with the utmost respect from every member of staff, the nursing and care staff, the housekeeping and catering staff
along with the management staff. They all take the time to have a few kind words with mum and the catering staff not only made her a birthday cake but brought it to her room and sang Happy Birthday to her. When I first viewed the home I was overwhelmed at how happy and content the residents AND the staff were. Even in these very trying times, having to deal with the threat of Coronavirus, the staff here are totally dedicated to ensuring everyone is well looked after and safe. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cadogan Court to anyone searching for a safe and happy environment for their loved one. They really are kind, supportive and trusted.

My dad (in his 90s) as with many older people was adamant about not going into a home and yet he was lonely, not quite able to cope alone and unsafe. He has been happy there these last 15-months. We made his generous room with ensuite his own space with familiar bits from home. There is a routine, he
likes the staff and has made friends of other residents. He can have a banter; it's a cheerful place. He can't cope as independently as he thinks, but if he were able, he could be independent. Equally, he is now prompted to participate in a timetable of activities. He loves the food and the friendly formality of a hotel like the dining room. There is a choice of spaces to sit, outside garden. On visits we can visit a lovely city, cafes, Dad likes the pub and the barbers. It just has a homely feel, and it's easy to come and go as a family. I like the fact the home has residential, dementia care and nursing care, so no matter how things go for him, he has a home from home for life.

Our mother has been living at Cadogan Court for several years. During this long period, her diagnosis of Dementia and her overall frailties have deteriorated. But despite the challenges of dementia certainly, she has always received compassionate and respectful care.

Cadogan Court is bright and cheerful. The refurbishment is a success and the rooms are all of a decent size with a separate area for wardrobe space and a small ensuite so the bed-sitting room does not feel cluttered. All rooms have nice large windows, nice new curtains, good looking hygienic flooring.
It was a welcome sight in my search for a quality residential home for my mother at the end of 2019. She has now been a resident for 5 months and we have no complaints. The staff are very kind and caring. The team who manage doctors' appointments and medications etc are efficient and responsive. The recent briefings to families from (RMBI) HQ and Cadogan Court management reveal they have been working hard and have been ahead of the curve in keeping residents safe during the Covid 19 crisis so far. The staff also. They keep families informed. I am so grateful for this care and attention.

My father-in-law has been at Cadogan Court since the start of 2020. The staff have been amazing and extremely patient with him, he has dementia and gets very confused. Nothing is too much trouble for them, we can call him whenever we want, which has been especially good during the ongoing Coronavirus
lockdown. The home invested in Tablets and loaded videocalling apps and have been great at helping families to arrange video call meetings with residents.
The staff are always so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble and this is still the case, even in the current difficult situation. I really cannot praise all the staff enough. The Home Manager emails every Friday with an update on the residents, staff and what has been happening in the home that week, this is of great comfort.
When you are able to visit, the home is always warm, friendly and my father-in-law has settled in very well. As a family, we are extremely happy with all elements of his care, and ours too.

This is the best home in the area. Well designed, well-run, and great staff, who have taken care of my mother and we are now in the midst of the Covid crisis. The care she is receiving is outstanding, and all possible protection has been used in this crisis. I would recommend this home to anyone, and
if you have any concerns, they will always listen and act to make things better.

I am very thankful that my mum is in Cadogan Court under the caring hands of the staff there. The carers and staff are excellent and seem to really "care".
The staff in the dining room are amazingly patient with the residents and go out of their way to ensure people are happy with their food.

Light and airy home which is welcoming, attractive and clean. Care staff are friendly yet professional and proactive with my mother and others with dementia and anxiety and concerns. A wide range of stimulating activities on offer both in the home and wider community which mum is actively encouraged
to join. Several lounges to make use of throughout the home. A bright inviting dining room. We are always made welcome to visit or telephone by staff throughout the home whatever their role. We have observed all staff irrespective of their role being respectful and friendly residents.

The new management are thoughtful and caring and this is reflected in the attentiveness of the plentiful staff. My step mum is in the dementia unit and benefitting from a wide range of activities including singing, bingo and art, all of which she greatly enjoys. She also quickly made some friends in
the unit. The staff are friendly and supportive to family members, too, and always on hand to help us during our visits.

I have only been at the home for 4 months but I have settled in very well and am very happy with my new home environment. The staff are all very friendly and I am always treated with dignity. Although I value the structure and routine here I welcome the fact that I have my freedom to plan my day as
I choose eg get up when I want. I would highly recommend this care home.

My mother has been a resident at Cadogan Court for almost five years.
During all this time, she has been cared for wonderfully and always respectfully.
I visit several times a week and am constantly impressed at the high standards met by the home.
All staff are excellent from the highest to the lowest.
Cadogan
Court is certainly a home which should be very proud of itself.

Communication:
Several communication issues. Management are distant and unhelpful. There appears to be a divide between management and staff at ground level.
Rooms:
Rooms are generally very pleasant, airy and clean, with encouragement to bring own belongings.
Food:
Food is of a good standard,
the head chef gets a special mention, being friendly and very communicative
Care:
Care plans have not always been in place and proved difficult to instigate if family live a considerable distance away. Staff appeared guarded and over cautious when a care plan discussion was requested.

Recreation:
Always appear to have plenty of varied activities, though residents often found sleeping throughout... timings inappropriate, i.e. immediately after lunch.

Staff:
Generally, staff are polite, but the number of weekend agency staff and/or poor English speakers have affected continuity of care at best, at worse, caused confusion/distress to residents.

The care, empathy and support my mother has received is exemplary. The care staff are committed professionals who take pride in their work.

My mum is very happy and has been since she moved in 8/6/16. I visit weekly, know all the staff, very caring and kind in every department. Mum looks well, clean, tidy and still has her hair done, manicure, feet, earrings and necklace on each day with matching clothes. Staff pop in and out all day and
encourage mum to join in activities, eats well, restaurant service like a hotel. I hear staff talking to other residents always very patient so pleased we chose Cadogan Court. You can speak to anyone quickly with any problem. PERFECT

All the Carers, Domestic staff, Kitchen staff, Activity staff, Senior care staff and the Business Manager all treated my relation and her family with care and consideration especially in the last weeks of life. The Management (including the current team) left a lot to be desired, they were never seen
outside their office spending their time no doubt on paperwork. They did not have the common courtesy to relay their condolences even though they walked straight past us.

The staff work so hard and for that, we are extremely grateful. It is just a shame that there is low morale due to the fact no appreciation is shown.
The staff treated us all with dignity and respect and I would like to thank those members of staff.

Reply from A Icely-Brown, Home Manager at Cadogan Court

Firstly, the entire team at Cadogan Court offer sincere condolences to the family of the resident who had been happy with us for many years. During the final days of the resident's life, the family wishes for privacy were respected and when they wanted to speak with any member of the management team a conversation took place. The review given is disappointing although is thankfully against the prevailing trend.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.914)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.914) out of 10 for Cadogan Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.714 for Cadogan Court is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.714
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.2 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cadogan Court is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
