A dear friend of mine has recently moved into Red Admiral View. The staff, in particular the manager Sue, have gone out of their way to make her feel settled and happy. She has a lovely room overlooking the beautiful gardens. The room is always clean, tidy and rubbish taken out promptly. When a call
bell sounds staff are quick to respond to residents and with patience and compassion. The communal areas/toilets are always spotlessly clean. There is a varied programme of activities. The Christmas programme of events has been fantastic. They also offer trips out to garden centres. They are all so welcoming when visitors arrive and show flexibility if someone wants to take a loved one out for a while. I can't comment about the food but my friend always says that it's delicious and it always smells so good to me! There's always a tea trolley available with cake! I often take my friend over to the main house Zetland Court where we are always welcomed. Thank you to you all for all you do.
Reply from Iain Slack, Home Manager at Zetland CourtThank you for taking the time to write such a kind review and I am pleased to hear you feel so welcomed. From the very beginning mum has been treated with care and respect.
The staff are wonderful, with their time and patience,we feel reassured mum is well looked after.
We,as a family, knew it would not be easy but thanks to the whole team, their support and understanding the process has not been as
daunting as we feared.
Mum has settled well and is enjoying the activities, especially Friday Night party time !
I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a caring, safe place for their loved one. This one ticks all the boxes.

Mum has had a few changes in her capacity and health in the last couple of months and the Team at Barford Court have been fantastic. They have been very kind, responsive and extremely professional. They have ensured that appointments, investigations and medications have been accessed really quickly
so we could eliminate possible causes and treat actual ones.
After a fall, mum said she found herself surrounded by about 6 carers, she was checked out, added to the gp medical round and is currently being monitered regularly. The caring is very loving and it helps me as I live a couple of hours away.
Reply from Gavin Kingham, Registered Home Manager at Barford CourtIt is good to hear you think your mum is getting really great care, which must be such a relief for you, especially being a couple of hours away. I am glad my team has been so responsive and professional, especially with everything your mum has been going through. Having those regular check-ups and quick access to treatments really makes a difference. It must also be comforting for you knowing that the carers are so kind and attentive. Thank you again for your lovely comments.

My mum spent the last year as a resident in Red Admiral wing when her dementia advanced to the stage where dad and I were no longer able to care for her at home. The worry and guilt we had for making the decision soon disappeared when we saw how mum was cared for, always with such patience and dignity.
The staff took time to learn about mum's background so that they could engage with her and they really do understand how dementia affects the residents. The residents are encouraged to spend time out of their rooms and there are always activities for them to take part in. Christmas was made really special with loads of decorations, activities, parties, presents, raffles and we celebrated mums 90th birthday with a party for residents friends and family. Every holiday and birthday is celebrated. Nothing is too much trouble for the manager Sue and her amazing team. Red Admiral became our second home and we were always welcomed and made to feel part of the Red Admiral family
Reply from Iain Slack, Home Manager at Zetland CourtOn behalf of the team in Red Admiral I would like to extend our thanks for your kind words and positive review, I would wholeheartedly agree the team in Red Admiral are exceptional.
Thank you for all your support and helping us get to know your mum, this is so valuable when providing dementia care.

Barford Court is an amazing Care Home. The staff are caring and clearly understand how important it is to give the best care and support to the residents. Mum has been here for over two years and very happy. It is important that I can walk away knowing Mum is being looked after how I would care for

This is definitely Mums home.

Impressive standard of care + kindness towards residents who appear to be treated with great respect and dignity by all members of staff. The food looks excellent + residents clearly enjoy their meals and snacks. There appears to be plenty of staff who are readily available to help residents. The level
of participation in activities (which are varied + plentiful), seems high + most residents are engaged.
Reply from Gavin Kingham, Registered Home Manager at Barford Courthank you very much for taking the time to share such positive feedback.
We are delighted to hear that you observed a high standard of care and kindness, and that residents are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. Your comments about the quality of the food, staff availability, and the range of activities on offer are especially appreciated, as these are areas our team works very hard on every day.
It is particularly rewarding to know that residents appear engaged, well supported, and enjoying both their meals and activities. I will be sure to pass your kind words on to the whole team, as feedback like this means a great deal to them.

My wife Pamela has for some time been quite poorly, having broken legs and dementia, she was a long way from being "well" however my family rallied round and arranged for Pamela to go into a care home for 4 weeks mainly to give me a "break". When it was time to come home, she was so happy there, and
with no pressure on her agreed to stay permanently where she has been since. The Home is very much like a first-class hotel with all the facilities you could think of. Food is plentiful. Entertainment is excellent; various "trips out". Since Pamela has been in the care home she has "come on in leaps and bounds" and I am so grateful we found something that has improved her health & well being.
Reply from Gavin Kingham, Registered Home Manager at Barford CourtI'm so sorry to hear about the challenges Pamela had been facing, but it's really heartening to hear that she has found a place where she's comfortable and thriving. I am pleased you feel our care home is providing her with an excellent environment, both in terms of physical care and emotional support. It must be a relief for you to know that she's in a good place, and it's amazing that her health and well-being have improved so much.
It's also great that your family rallied around you both to ensure Pamela got the care she needed. It must have been tough for you as her primary caregiver, so having this break seems to have benefited you both. Thanks again for the lovely comments.

I hope my final review on Scarbrough Court will give good insight to what a lovely care home this really is. Sadly my mam passed away in September this year after being a long time resident on the nursing floor. Mams final days were truly peaceful..her passing happened quite quickly but I was able
to stay with her the whole time..was Imformed with what was happening with mam and in the final hours the support we received as a family was great. .Mam was treated with dignity and respect until the end as she had always been in the 5 n half years being there.
I miss going into the home and chatting to staff about mam and just seeing familiar faces. Everyone of the team work so hard ways with a smile. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anybody who is having to make the decision of placing a family member here. Care is fantastic.
Thankyou again for helping us through this journey xx

I will share your wonderful comments with the team, take care and I hope that we see you again sometime.

My Dad has been at Barford Court for about a year now. Moving him into a care home was a difficult but necessary decision and I would be lying if I said I was certain that Barford Court was the right fit for him to start off with. However, it didn't take long for any fears to be alleviated. It has a
calm and caring ethos, and it is clear that the residents are treated as individuals. All of the staff are lovely and I am confident that my Dad is well cared for at Barford Court.

Barford looked after my mum for two and half years. This was her home and right until the end she had excellent care. Even when things got really difficult with Mum, everyone at Barford including the care team, house keeping, maintenance and even visiting activity teams were kind and patient. Barford
supported us as a family and allowed me to be a daughter again. In the last week of her life I could stay at Barford, with Mum and this is so precious to me. The staff were amazing and took care of everything so I could just be with Mum. Thankyou all.

It was a privilege for all of us at Barford to care for your mum over the last two and a half years, and to make Barford feel like home for her. Even during the more challenging times, she was always met with the kindness, patience, and the respect she deserved. We're truly grateful that we could support you and your family, and that you were able to spend those precious final days by your mum's side. Knowing that we could help you focus on being a daughter during that time means more to us than you know. Thank you, again.

We could not have asked for our dear father Paul to have been in a better home for his last few years. Every single member of staff was compassionate and professional at all times. We are very grateful to them all. I can't think of anything I could suggest to improve. I guess that says it all!

My mother is about to have her 98th birthday, by which time she will have lived in Barford Court for eight years. She is happy there and has always been treated wtih respect and dignity. The care and level of training are outstanding. Each week, residents are offered a full range of activities. Relatives
are made to feel welcome and often take part in these alongside their loved ones. The management and the different teams wtihin the home are excellent. they are open and visible and offer regular support and advice to us. Both my Parents are in care and they are very well looked after. It has been difficult transition for them but are settling in well and the staff have been very supportive and patient. It has been a great relief for me to know there are being looked after 24/7 and I no longer need to worry about something
happening and no-one being around to help like when there were on their own in the house.
Reply from Gavin Kingham, Registered Home Manager at Barford CourtThank you so much for your kind message. We're really pleased to hear that both your parents are settling in well and that the transition is becoming easier for them. It's completely natural for this period to feel challenging, and we're glad that our team has been able to support them - and you - throughout.
Knowing that their care brings you peace of mind means a great deal to us. Our team work hard to provide compassionate, consistent support, and it's wonderful to hear that this has made such a positive difference. My aunt receives excellent care. The staff are all dedicated and professional, the Home is always spotless and the provision of activities for the residents is impressive. We receive regular updates on her progress and on the issues facing the Home which are always addressed with vigour. She is very
comfortable and socialises well with fellow-residents and staff. We are always treated with courtesy and professionally when we make telephone calls or when we visit.

We are very happy with the continuing care at Barford Court. Our mother was taken ill suddenly and the staff looked after her and us wonderfully, keeping in touch whilst she was in hospital and making everything ready for her comfort and care when she returned home. She is so well looked after and supported,
I have no doubt that we made the right choice when we chose Barford Court for her needs.
