My Aunt joined Albert Edward in October 2026 and feels like she is in a family. The staff are amazing, responsive to any questions I might have and it is a pleasure to visit her in such a calm and welcoming environment. The gardens are beautiful as is the decor inside. There are many quiet areas to have a coffee and a catch up as well as comfortable communal spaces where residents can mingle. She has particularly enjoyed the activities program which is varied and there is something on twice a day. I would highly recommend to anyone.

A very good home with hard working, caring and friendly staff. Better communication between carers and relatives would be helpful when requesting things on behalf of loved ones as often requests get overlooked and you have to ask a couple of times to get things actioned.

My parents moved in during February of this year & settled in to life in Porthcawl. Immediately from the point of moving in, the staff have worked hard to welcome & accommodate my parents' needs, in particular their desire to share sleeping arrangements. Having been married for nearly 70 years, they wanted to maintain this situation. Despite the additional challenges this created for the staff they supported us to keep this status quo. The standard of care, friendliness, food and cleanliness have been excellent. Additionally, they have gently encouraged my parents to socialise during the regular activities.

Sadly, my father passed away in April, however, since then all members of staff have really rallied around my mother, which gives comfort that she is being well looked after. A member of the nursing team even attended my father's funeral service. Whilst this point isn't directly related to the standard of care, it is an indicator of the environment the Care Home creates.

My mother has transitioned so well to Albert Edward. Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble to meet her needs. There are many activities available of which my mothers attends, and is given a weekly schedule of all available which is great . The food is of excellent quality. My Mother has been able to make several new friends of the same capacity ,which has been a great comfort to the family as she was recently widowed. The room is light and bright with a beautiful outlook.

My mother moved into this home because of worsening dementia and related safety issues. I had cared for her for 13 years so it was a difficult although necessary decision. From the application process I felt supported by Donna, and for the last year I have been so grateful to all the unit staff for their care of my mother in a lovely environment. Day one we were met by team leader Jamie who was instantly reassuring that she could go to bed, get up when she wanted to, have food at mealtimes or not, have sandwiches/snacks when wanted as at home. I have been happy to experience that this home from home living principle promise, is a reality, and offered alongside timely support with activities of daily living. I have also witnessed such patience with the challenging care of dementia patients there. Sara (reception plus!) and Theresa manager are both efficient and have a relaxed caring can do team approach. These combined skills and attitudes results in the 5 star reviews which I endorse.

From the moment you walk into reception, Albert Edwards feels entirely different to any other care home - it's more like stepping into a welcoming hotel, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
It's a truly special place with a clear emphasis on helping residents feel that this is their home. Over the 5 months my father stayed there, the ethos was evident in every detail, from the respectful way staff interacted with him to the thoughtful touches that made his environment feel personal and dignified.
The professionalism throughout the home is outstanding. The care compassion, and I felt reassured knowing he was in such capable hands.

I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone at Albert Edwards for the kindness and support they gave my father during his time with them, your dedication made a real difference.

Since my dear wife became a resident on the third of July 2025, she has received and enjoyed nothing but kindness and care from all of the many members of staff, who have looked after her well being. The exemplary carers do all that they can - all of the time - to make her new life a happy one.

They should all have wings and halos.

A very impressive first stay in this care home. The staff were very attentive and made me feel both cared for and secure. The advantage of also providing a weeks Respite for my wife, who acts more as my daily carer, also added to my peace of mind. I will be seriously considering further short respite break to provide a relief to my wife and daughters who otherwise are anxious for my fitness.

This residential home is the best I have come across. It is welcoming and treated my dear friend with dignity and patience. They are flexible in approach and want nothing more than to give the best possible care. My friend was frail and needing a great deal of 'TLC'; this was given in abundance, nothing was too much trouble. Caring staff are kind and pleasant, giving and showing utmost respect to such an elderly lady. Management staff ar of the highest calibre. Superb listening skills and showed genuine sympathy for our difficulties. They also acted positively in this respect, offering a much needed placement. The empathy and support was also exemplary. This is a family of caring, efficient, high quality individuals. It says something when employees choose to place their relatives here.

A fantastic experience in a beautiful well cared for unique setting. The management, staff and volunteers would be a credit to any organisation.
It was a delight to share valuable time and experiences with the residents.

Firstly I must comment on the general appearance of the home, it is spotless and smells beautiful of flowers and very welcoming and warm. The furnishings are first-class quality and carefully designed to give a calm and inviting vibe. The staff are incredible, very friendly and caring. My mum was very vulnerable when she came to the home only 3 months ago and already her improvement in her health is amazing. She is content, safe and feels like royalty, as sisters we are so grateful to have found such a wonderful place for our mum.

My mum has been made very welcome during her first months as a resident. The level staff have made her transition from hospital very easy. Mum can be quiet and tall the staff have taken time to get to know her individual needs, likes and dislikes. Mum's health has improved a lot in just one month. Mum particularly enjoys meal times with the other residents and is very happy with the quality and choice of meals, Mum looks forward to her weekly hair saloon visit and like that she can join in with activities when it suits her. We are happy all around as a family.

Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court was selected for my stepmother just over two years ago. It came highly recommended and this has proved to be justifiable. The home is professionally managed ensuring a high standard of care and accommodation. The residents are treated kindly and their dignity is always maintained. Staffing levels are good, varied entertainment is provided and there is a good laundry service. The nurses and carers really seem to know the residents well and can be relied upon to act in the residents’ best interests. A friendly, professional and caring team.

My dad has been a resident at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court for a number of years and the care he has received has always been first-class. The staff are fabulous and caring and the home is always spotlessly clean and has plenty of things going on for the residents to take part in. The bedrooms are very light and roomy and the communal areas are very pleasant and calm to be in. The home feels more like a hotel than a care home and the decor is bright and cheery, along with the staff working there. I can't recommend the place enough, thanks to everyone there for the care they've shown my dad over the years and continue to do so.

My mother has been a resident for the past 7 years as she has dementia and in that time the staff at the home have always gone the extra mile to make sure she is happy, cared for, and well looked after.
This is an amazing home the best I have ever been to, I did look at a lot of homes before Mum went into the home originally. I couldn't thank the staff enough for the care they have given my mother over the past 7 years, she is 93 years old and her dementia is slowly getting worse but she is happy being loved and cared for by this lovely home.

I visit the home twice sometimes three times a week and she is always well dressed and content I couldn't wish for a better. I don't say what days I will visit.

I have worked at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court for many years, firstly as a carer between 1992 and 1996. I then completed my nurse training and returned to the Home in 2008 in the role of RGN in our nursing area, and then progressed to my current role.

Before coming back to Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court, I worked as an Advanced Practitioner and independent Prescriber at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, out of hours. I also managed the hospital at night in the absence of the coordinator.

I decided to retire from the NHS and join the team at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court, and I have enjoyed my time here. I am very proud to be part of this team.

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling in my motor home and knitting, especially for our residents' stalls at events. I am part of a quiz team in our local pub and enjoy being part of the Home's events.

I’ve been working at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court for the past 8 years as the Facilities Manager. I'm responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all buildings, grounds, furniture, fixings and equipment.

From school, I started an apprenticeship with the Ministry of Defence as an Aeronautical Engineer and then moved up through the ranks, managing aircraft servicing and their surroundings. I eventually ended up on the business development side, planning and scheduling when I left after 16 years, qualified to HND level.

From there I moved into fleet car sales, working for Sinclair Volkswagen in Bridgend for 6 years. Then I moved into self-employment (painting, decorating and property maintenance).

Having lived in the local area for the past 40 years, I was lucky enough to fall on my feet and land the Facilities Manager's job at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court. It is a wonderful place to work and only a stone’s throw away from my home and family.

I am part of a small team responsible for providing a range of activities for our residents. Our aim is to make activities fun, stimulating and beneficial, and to really make a difference in our residents' lives.

A warm smile, a kind gesture and a listening ear are essential for this role, and we try to embrace this every day. Being a little crazy is also beneficial, my role model for this job would have to be the iconic Sir Charlie Chaplin.
