My mother is being well looked after. There are always people available to help and support.
There are a variety of activities for my mother to be involved in but no pressure if she just wants to 'chill' in her room.
Food is generally pretty good and there's always ice cream (which always helps!).

Thank you.

My family has been associated with the Albert Edward Care Home for more than 30 years and our opinion has not changed. We agree with all the previous comments submitted by others, so no need to repeat them. My mother-in-law was a resident for a number of years and passed away at the home 12 years ago. Her care was inspirational. My older brother is now a resident there so we have the opportunity to visit and experience the continued high standards provided. On a personal note, we draw comfort from the possibilities of availing ourselves of the Albert Edward as time goes by.

Well done to all the management and staff, cannot praise you enough, hence the 5-star rating.

The staff are always very helpful and friendly, they keep us informed of how my father is doing and his general health.

The standard of care provided by the staff and carers at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court is outstanding. All were provided with dignity, concern and gentle humour and with the utmost levels of professionalism. The home is immaculately clean with excellent daily activities. The well-maintained grounds provide for walking for the more mobile residents.

When my late father was very ill I spent a number of nights at the home and could not have been made to feel more welcome in very challenging circumstances. As a family, we consider ourselves remarkably fortunate that both our parents have been looked after at the home. We live locally and visit the home a number of times a week and at different times of the day and evening, and the standard never wavers from excellent.

As always this care home never fails to deliver when it comes to Dad. He is so well looked after, cleanly dressed whenever I visit and he is above all happy. What more can I ask for? He always says it is like being on holiday as there are so many activities going on and he especially likes the singers/bands.
He has a little bit of the garden that he calls his own where he has his bird feeding station and in the summer months he is regularly watering the flowers and plants. He has even got into doing some painting around the garden as well.
The staff are so caring and patient with him, it's a joy to see when I visit, nothing is too much trouble. They always ensure his safety and reassure him if he is having an off day, which is few and far between now.
The home itself is pristine and so inviting when you arrive, everywhere inside and out is kept in tip-top condition.

10 out of 10 as always from me, as I can't thank them enough for looking after him. Dad would say the same.

Really impressed with the way that the home looked after our father over the Christmas period. It was his first Christmas since he moved in so we weren’t sure what to expect. The home was decorated nicely and in a way, he felt really comfortable with. He thoroughly enjoyed himself. Thank you to all the team.

My mother-in-law has been at the home since September & suffers from mild Alzheimer’s. The staff over the Xmas period have been amazing. She felt loved, entertained and included. Everyone has been so attentive on her “off days” & encouraged her to be the life & soul of the party when back on form. We are truly blessed that she is now with such a great bunch of people who genuinely care. We felt guilty not bringing her to us for Xmas but in all honesty I think she had a better time than we did!

The care Dad receives at this home is top-notch. The staff are medically attentive, caring and, above all, always respectful. The food is great, and the activities are well thought out to occupy those who want it. As we do not live in the UK, our visits to Dad are not as often as we would like, but the staff still know us, and communication by email is good, putting us at ease that he is in the safest place for his condition (Parkinson’s). We’re made to feel part of the team. After 18 months, Dad is starting to refer to it as ‘home’.

The care home endeavours to provide the best care possible at all times. They are always striving to bring global and local events that are happening in the outside world and include them in their social activities and I feel that this helps them to focus and have something to look forward to and that they can feel a part of. (Not just calendar events Xmas etc.). The home really puts a great deal of effort and emphasis on creating the best possible experience for the residents to enjoy and actively take part in and also feel a part of whatever the occasion is and it is always presented to a very good standard.
The staff are always attentive and I feel confident and assured that they are fully appreciative of the resident's needs and will endeavour to help and do whatever is necessary to help and assist the residents in their everyday care which I’m sure at times can be difficult.

The staff have also created a relaxed atmosphere whereby you don’t feel like a visitor but part of the team.

In March, my aunt will have been a resident at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court for three years. Over that time, we have seen a massive change. Before going there she sat in a chair all day, wasn’t able to do anything and had no friends. Now, she enjoys going to activities with the friends she has made, participates in events and has gained in confidence. This is all due to the care and encouragement of all the staff at the home. I can’t thank you enough for all you do for my aunt.

I am delighted that my mother is a resident of Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court. She was in a confused state on admission but thanks to the very able, highly qualified, experienced and caring staff, Mum has become more settled and is very happy in her new home. Mum always looks nice and her room and bathroom are fresh and welcoming respectively.
I have 101% peace of mind now!

Thank you to the manager and all your staff, especially Ireland House!

My mum is completely dependent upon the carers to carry out all of the daily tasks such as washing, dressing, and being moved around in her wheelchair, Mum is treated with respect and considers the carers as her friends. The staff are very accommodating with everything she wishes to do, even if she just requires a little company, they are very happy to sit and include her in everyday chat and gossip, which she loves.
Mum particularly enjoys activities in the home which are very varied, there is always something for everyone, from painting, knitting, playing drums, horse racing, skittles, yoga, chair aerobics, sports days, regular visits from therapy dogs, alpacas and a variety of singers and entertainers, there is even a hairdressing salon and pub on-site for residents.
The home provides great facilities for family and friends to visit, tea, coffee and cakes, also well-maintained grounds to walk around.

As a family, we feel so lucky that Mum is a resident of Albert Edward!

From the moment we submitted the application form to Mum's arrival, less than a month later, we have received excellent support, help and advice from admin, the business relations manager and the home manager, who even visited Mum at the hospital prior to her assessment. All the staff have been wonderful in Mum's unit, from the cleaner up. Mum has settled in well and has only been at Albert Edwards for two weeks. She's very happy, and we are delighted and relieved that she is well cared for, safe and stimulated.

Thank you!

What an experience! From the moment I stepped into the building I was welcomed. My room was comfortable, light, airy, and with a sea view. As I was active, I was able to get to my dining room (one of at least five, each supplied by a central kitchen) with ease. The quality of the food provided was excellent and to my liking. I am not too sure of how many of the one hundred plus year old residents were into spicy curry and rice! Two days into my stay I was greeted warmly and asked of my well-being by every member of staff whom I passed, from the management to the newest of "helpers." Being mindful each day that the staff looked after the well-being of wheelchair, chair-bound, and bedbound residents, that took priority over us, the active residents. Morning, afternoon, and some evening events were put on for the benefit of all the residents. Here we met up with the less active. Did they enjoy? You bet they did! Night shift staff would regularly open my door to ensure that I was safe. Now that I am home, after three weeks of respite care, I am feeling the benefits of my stay. I will be promoting this care home for a long time.

The Albert Edwards care home is more akin to an upmarket hotel than the traditional view of a residential home. The staff are welcoming, caring and professional. The facilities are fantastic. After a number of years of stress and worry about Mum's safety and well-being, I now have the peace of mind of knowing that she is finally in a caring, safe and secure environment where her many needs can be satisfied on a 24-hour basis by amazing staff to whom the family feel deeply indebted.

I feel so lucky that my partner was accepted at Albert Edward, having seen numerous other homes. His room is a good size, the facilities are excellent, and it is so clean and fresh smelling. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. Whenever we go into the home, we are greeted with "Hello, how are you" by any staff member we come across. There is a good range of activities - my partner enjoys several. When he moved into Albert Edward, he had difficulty speaking and moving after a devastating stroke. He has improved so much now, and it's lovely to have conversations over lunch.

My mother has been a resident in the nursing unit since August 2022. The standard of care provided by the nursing staff and carers is excellent. They are all kind and supportive to Mum and myself. The home is spotlessly clean and the food is excellent. Moving a loved one to a care home is a very difficult decision to make and we were very fortunate that Mum was offered a place at the Albert Edward.

I have worked at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court for many years, firstly as a carer between 1992 and 1996. I then completed my nurse training and returned to the Home in 2008 in the role of RGN in our nursing area, and then progressed to my current role.

Before coming back to Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court, I worked as an Advanced Practitioner and independent Prescriber at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, out of hours. I also managed the hospital at night in the absence of the coordinator.

I decided to retire from the NHS and join the team at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court, and I have enjoyed my time here. I am very proud to be part of this team.

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling in my motor home and knitting, especially for our residents' stalls at events. I am part of a quiz team in our local pub and enjoy being part of the Home's events.

Having worked at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court for five years, I have progressed to my current role as Business Relationship Manager. I hold several qualifications, including a degree in Health and Social Care practice, and I am currently working towards further qualifications in my role.

I work closely with residents and staff, so I remain fully aware of the needs of residents. I use this experience during training sessions to make it relatable and real, and to keep our staff and residents safe.

Simon RobertsJob Title:Facilities ManagerJoined: 2015

I’ve been working at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court for the past 8 years as the Facilities Manager. I'm responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all buildings, grounds, furniture, fixings and equipment.

From school, I started an apprenticeship with the Ministry of Defence as an Aeronautical Engineer and then moved up through the ranks, managing aircraft servicing and their surroundings. I eventually ended up on the business development side, planning and scheduling when I left after 16 years, qualified to HND level.

From there I moved into fleet car sales, working for Sinclair Volkswagen in Bridgend for 6 years. Then I moved into self-employment (painting, decorating and property maintenance).

Having lived in the local area for the past 40 years, I was lucky enough to fall on my feet and land the Facilities Manager's job at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court. It is a wonderful place to work and only a stone’s throw away from my home and family.

I am part of a small team responsible for providing a range of activities for our residents. Our aim is to make activities fun, stimulating and beneficial, and to really make a difference in our residents' lives.

A warm smile, a kind gesture and a listening ear are essential for this role, and we try to embrace this every day. Being a little crazy is also beneficial, my role model for this job would have to be the iconic Sir Charlie Chaplin.
