Reviews

9.2 Cadogan Court has a Review Score of 9.2 (9.175)

The Review Score of 9.2 (maximum of 10) for Cadogan Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 13 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Cadogan Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.604 for Cadogan Court is calculated as follows: ( (111 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 154 Ratings = 4.604

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.571 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cadogan Court is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 14 positive Reviews (70 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 8 Reviews ÷ 14 Target = 0.571

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The care, empathy and support my mother has received is exemplary. The care staff are committed professionals who take pride in their work.
My mother feels safe, happy and at home at Cadogan and whilst the care staff take their work seriously, they also have fun and have ensured my mother has not lost her sense of humour.

My mum is very happy and has been since she moved in 8/6/16. I visit weekly, know all the staff, very caring and kind in every department. Mum looks well, clean, tidy and still has her hair done, manicure, feet, earrings and necklace on each day with matching clothes. Staff pop in and out all day and encourage mum to join in activities, eats well, restaurant service like a hotel. I hear staff talking to other residents always very patient so pleased we chose Cadogan Court. You can speak to anyone quickly with any problem. PERFECT

Communication:
Several communication issues. Management are distant and unhelpful. There appears to be a divide between management and staff at ground level.
Rooms:
Rooms are generally very pleasant, airy and clean, with encouragement to bring own belongings.
Food:
Food is of a good standard, the head chef gets a special mention, being friendly and very communicative
Care:
Care plans have not always been in place and proved difficult to instigate if family live a considerable distance away. Staff appeared guarded and over cautious when a care plan discussion was requested.

Recreation:
Always appear to have plenty of varied activities, though residents often found sleeping throughout... timings inappropriate, i.e. immediately after lunch.

Staff:
Generally, staff are polite, but the number of weekend agency staff and/or poor English speakers have affected continuity of care at best, at worse, caused confusion/distress to residents.

Mum has now been in Cadogan Court for 12 months. The care she is receiving is excellent. The rooms are spacious with plenty of storage and en-suite toilet.
Mum has dementia so sometimes can be difficult but the staff are so patient and caring.
The whole family are happy that we chose this home as we know that Mum is in a safe environment.

Our mother has been in Cadogan Court for the past 3/4 years. She is almost 91 and suffers with dementia and her hearing has deteriorated but despite this, she remains happy most of the time. At no time have I or my sister had serious concerns about her care just the odd niggle. The staff are very caring and hard working.

My mother has only been at Cadogan Court since February but is now so happy.
With encouragement, she is now doing crafts that she had not tried for years.
She now has rosy cheeks again and is wearing her smile once more.

All the Carers, Domestic staff, Kitchen staff, Activity staff, Senior care staff and the Business Manager all treated my relation and her family with care and consideration especially in the last weeks of life. The Management (including the current team) left a lot to be desired, they were never seen outside their office spending their time no doubt on paperwork. They did not have the common courtesy to relay their condolences even though they walked straight past us.

The staff work so hard and for that, we are extremely grateful. It is just a shame that there is low morale due to the fact no appreciation is shown.
The staff treated us all with dignity and respect and I would like to thank those members of staff.

A Icely-Brown, Home Manager at Cadogan Court responded to this review on 29 Oct 2017:

Firstly, the entire team at Cadogan Court offer sincere condolences to the family of the resident who had been happy with us for many years. During the final days of the resident's life, the family wishes for privacy were respected and when they wanted to speak with any member of the management team a conversation took place. The review given is disappointing although is thankfully against the prevailing trend.

Our Dad has been at Cadogan Court since February 2017 so approaching 7 months now. It's fair to say that he wasn't over joyed at having to move into a care home but his personal circumstances meant that he had no option. Dad won't come out of his room much (his choice) but the carers who he has made friends with totally respect his wishes. He is very comfortable and is cared for well. He is allowed to do what he wants and the nursing care that he also requires is excellent. He prefers not to be disturbed within certain hours and all of the staff respect that. He also enjoys a small tipple and is allowed that also! Dad has his own personal effects with his to make him feel more comfortable and also is allowed to keep his mobility scooter with his to maintain some independence although he doesn't use it too much - nonetheless, its there for him which is important to him. All in all, this is a lovely home and doesn't have that odour that many care homes have which is refreshing.

An excellent establishment, clean with no odour. Excellent caring staff with the odd exception. Management particularly the business manager are doing an excellent job and keeping relatives and residents informed of developments in the home. There is resident input of residents in the appointment of staff and participation in various committees eg. health and safety. Very good entertainment and activities tailored to the needs of the residents.

My mother is cared for in every way with care, respect and professionalism. A room with her own bathroom and able to have her own things and pictures around her. The food is brilliant, and even when necessary to be served in her room, piping hot plates and food. I would thoroughly recommend Cadogan court.

Since my mum came here a year ago the entire staff have been exemplary. She has been treated kindly, lovingly and with respect at all times. Her room is kept clean and the food is good. I have no worries at all about the care here, every time I come in I am greeted warmly and as part of the community. Absolutely would recommend.
