My Sister
Was diagnosed with dementia four or five years ago
I looked after her for two years but couldn't deal with personal care
Tried personal care help but after a few visits didn't work
Vale view came to my rescue
The careful approach of each member of staff
They look after her very well
She has been with them for two years now
Best thing ever !! I visit regularly
Very good experience every time

My 92 year old mother was a resident at Vale View Heights for almost 6 months and we were very happy with the care offered by staff and management. My mother had dementia and the care she was given was thoughtful and kind. The food and activities on offer were varied and of good quality. Ultimately
my mother's health declined and she passed away peacefully in the home with me by her side.
Reply from Tselane Selokoma, Manager at Vale View Heights Care HomeThank you SC for sharing your kind feedback. It truly means a lot to hear that you felt your mother received thoughtful, kind care during her time with us. We are so glad that you saw how she was comfortable and well supported, and that you felt confident in the care she received.
We are deeply sorry for your loss.
With deepest sympathy,
The Vale View Heights Team

My Dad moved to Vale View heights for end of life care this year. I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks for everything that the vale view heights team did for my Dad. His case was far from straight forward but the team always cared for him with kindness and dignity in his last few weeks. The whole
team lead with compassion and that gave us great comfort in an extraordinarily difficult time. I would like to also highlight how wonderful and accommodating Avril the chef was with supporting us with Dads ever changing food schedule.
Reply from Tselane Selokoma, Manager at Vale View Heights Care HomeThank you AP for your feedback. We are truly honored to have cared for your dad during such a difficult time. It's wonderful to hear that our team's compassion and dedication provided you with comfort.
Your kind words mean a lot to us.
Warm regards,
The Vale View Heights Team

When I first walked through the entrance door, I felt I had entered a loving home. Yes, it is a care home, but it is so much more because of the loving care given by all the staff and the practical involvement by the management. After a very short time, I felt settled and part of the "family" and most
importantly, content with where I lived. Yes, there are compromises in a lifestyle to accept, and no place can be perfect, but these things are more than compensated for by the atmosphere of a "family" home.

I recently visited a resident at Vale View over a period of a week.
I was very impressed with the care that he consistently received.
All members of staff showed compassion. They treated him with dignity and care at all times. They always smiled and showed a genuine interest in my friend and his family.
I
look forward to my return to see these lovely staff.

My 92 year old mum moved to Vale View Heights in June, following a fall that left her with a broken arm, head injury and the inability to walk. Two months later, the staff at Vale View have cared and actively provided rehabilitation for my mum. She is now walking and enjoying life again. Thank you so
much! The leadership at Vale View is fantastic, they know everything that goes on with every person.

My father came to Vale View Heights initially on a temporary placement following a period in hospital. However, as he was happy and content in the home and his needs required it, his placement became permanent. The staff at the home are very caring and helpful and treat the residents with dignity.
While dad was unable to join in the all the activities towards the end of his time, these also were interested and varied.
Reply from Tselane Selokoma, Manager at Vale View Heights Care HomeThank you so much for your kind words. We're truly grateful for your appreciation of our staff-it means a great deal to know their care and dedication made a positive difference. It's also lovely to hear that the activities were enjoyed, even if only in part towards the end of your dad's time with us.We're also pleased to share that decoration work has now begun to enhance both the rooms and communal spaces. These upgrades reflect our continued commitment to creating a comfortable, welcoming environment for all our residents and their families.

Both of my parents (& myself & partner) are really well supported by every member of staff at Vale View. Dad has dementia & attends day care once a week. Mum has recently transferred into the care of Vale View from hospital following a fall. As she is very frail & requires palliative care, she was sadly
unable to return to our family home. Dad receives excellent care & love from everybody. The day a week supports our whole family & makes a huge difference to myself & my partner too, allowing us a few hours a week of quality time safe in the knowledge that dad is being well cared for. Mum is also receiving loving & compassionate care from everybody at Vale View, which is an enormous relief for me. She seems very comfortable & looks a different person from the 'patient' who transferred from hospital. It is difficult to put into words my appreciation of the support, care & warmth offered by every member of staff for my whole family. 10/10 Thank you for welcoming us into your family.

We were very pleased with the care and consideration shown to my cousin during his three-and-a-half years in your care. He was well-fed, clean and entertained to the level which suited his dementia. His room was light and airy overlooking the garden. On the downside the carpet was very stained and dirty
looking, not at all hygienic. The other complaint does not refer to Vale View Heights. My cousin was paying for full nursing care and a good room at considerable cost. You would not however deduct his NHS contribution from his fees so in effect he was being overcharged. Not good.

My Mum has been in the home for nearly five years. We have seen lots of changes and the new décor is such an improvement. Looks like a well-cared-for home. The management and staff are always polite and helpful. The home always rings me if there is a problem or any concerns they have. The activities
are excellent and she joins in as much as possible. She is never in her room and stays with everyone else in the lounges all day. She is very happy there which as a family is most important to us.

I came here rather hurriedly from hospital because they needed my bed for a more urgent case. Food excellent. Carers very efficient and kind. Everywhere very clean. Owing to shortage of staff the waiting line after pressing the button can be quite long! Nobody's fault! I do like a saucer with a cup
of tea or coffee. Bed and pillows not very comfortable but maybe I am biased because my father was the company secretary at a company that makes beds!

Mum has been in Vale View Heights while Dad had a hip operation. She has MS and needed quite a lot of care. The care home has been fantastic. Mum has enjoyed her stay and has said how lovely all the staff and carers have been to her. It is like a family environment which is comforting to know. Mum's
stay had to be extended because Dad had problems and the home was so helpful and accommodating regarding our needs. It will be sat to leave.

The main impression is of a happy and well run care home with excellent staff. There is a varied range of fun activities for the residents, with plenty of help for those needing assistance to fully participate. With at least one nurse on site 24/7, the residents and family have reassurance that should
the need arise, help is at hand. Overall the quality of care is excellent.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.561)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.561) out of 10 for Vale View Heights Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.661 for Vale View Heights Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (128 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 183 Ratings = 4.661
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Vale View Heights Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
