Reviews

8.5 The Old Rectory has a Review Score of 8.5 (8.527)

The Review Score of 8.5 (maximum of 10) for The Old Rectory is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Old Rectory in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.708 for The Old Rectory is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.708

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.819 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Rectory is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 9.4 positive Reviews (47 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 9.4 Target = 0.319

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

With some trepidation, we brought my mother to The Old Rectory not knowing how she would adjust to living here having lived independently in her own flat for six years. We had no need to be concerned. My mother was made very welcome and immediately took to the activities that the home organised. Special mention should be made of the man who sings old favourites in the lounge - which is normally packed when it is his turn to appear. Altogether it has been a very smooth transition and we are now confident my mother will be happy here.

My Mother-in-law received excellent care at the Old Rectory Nursing home. Her care was delivered with compassion, dignity and loving care. We could not have wished for a better place for our mother. The nursing team delivered and managed her medication regime, she was comfortable and pain-free. The home has so many things to offer with a friendly, homely environment. They were an amazing team. Nothing was too much.

The kindness and care my mother was given was first class. My mother was on end of life care and presented the nursing and care staff a great deal of their time, which they aways gave with a happy smile, compassion and their expert training.
Always doing everything they could to keep my mother happy and comfortable. So often when I was approaching my mother's room, I could hear the care staff seeing to mum, how they were speaking to mum was so lovely. No wonder my mum was happy, even though she suffered sometimes they did their best to make sure she didn't.

We found this home to be great for mum, the carers love and cared for her right to the end. We couldn't have asked for more. If we had any problems I spoke to the manager and we came to an agreement to suit both sides which was great, although maybe not perfect. The level of care was very good.

The care & kindness shown to my Dad in his short stay here was amazing, we loved to visit as the same welcome was made to us. A fun loving friendly team, that made my Dads last months a happy time.
The staff were all so amazing, making this feel like a real family home, we can't thank them enough, and will definitely be still popping in for a cuppa, when we are passing.

Thank you all so much again.

I have never been in a home like this with such dignity and respect for the residents. The staff are more like friends than staff, you can have a laugh with them and see that they love what they do. They have so much patience and respect for other people's wishes and are brilliant when it comes to end of life care, although my friend was there a couple days until she unfortunately passed away. The home, food, facilities are all brilliant and I would advise this home to anyone who is looking for a 5* home. It isn't a nursing home, it's a family home where you're welcome with open arms. The staff work 6-12 hour shifts and always have a smile on their face! Hats off to them ALL.
A brilliant home, with an outstanding atmosphere. Well done to you all.
