Over all time Butterfly Lodge has 88 reviews.
After being placed in a nursing home chosen by the NHS after a stay in hospital ; fast tracked as "end of life" , Mum had a miserable stay in a totally unsuitable and uncaring nursing home where she was going downhill fast.We were so lucky to find Butterfly Lodge had a vacancy 6 months ago and the change in Mum has been totally amazing! She is now moving around (quite often without her frame) and giving the staff the run around . She has put on weight and she has now got rid of the constant cough that she had! She is eating things that she would never have eaten before ( although she is very fussy) ,and she joins in the games and many events that are on in the lounge. On her 98th birthday she was taken out to the memory cafe where she spent the morning dancing. The turnaround in her well-being has been unbelievable and is all thanks to the caring and lovely staff who are always ready with a smile and a hug.She is still under "end of life" but she is now in the best possible place.
Thankyou Nikki for your lovely review it is certainly great to see your mum doing so well.
My mum spent a couple of years at butterfly lodge and I couldn't have asked for a better place for her to stay. The staff were all amazing with so much care and so much compassion, she settled really well and so quickly.
Thankyou so much for your lovely review of our home. I will of course share this with the team.
Where do I start when I have so much to say about the wonderful care my Mum receives in Butterfly Lodge? The staff are amazing, so caring, knowledgeable and so well trained, their expertise is invaluable when you are struggling with a loved one's journey with Dementia, they bring us as a family, comfort, support and professionalism on difficult days. It's such a beautiful place when you walk in, with plenty of smiles, cheery welcomes and an abundance of support. The catering staff go above and beyond in supporting my mums very picky food choices and try everything to support that. Mums room is kept clean and presentable. The Activity staff are very friendly and come up with the most fantastic ideas at times, always something going on, plus the bonus of trips out in the minibus to the memory cafe, Mums favourite shop, or even just a drive to the waterfront or the Moors. I love the open door policy with the management and nursing team. Thank you for loving our mum as much as we do
Thankyou so much Tina for your lovely review which i will share with the team .. we love looking after your mum!
Butterfly Lodge has been absolutely outstanding for my grandad. From the moment he arrived, the level of care has been exceptional. Every member of staff is attentive, kind, and genuinely engaged with him and other residents. The activities are engaging and grandad loves these.
This is not a place where people simply "do a job." The staff truly care and consistently go above and beyond to make sure every resident feels valued, safe, and happy. I have never seen my grandad laugh, sing and smile as much as he does now. He has genuinely found a new lease on life since living here, and that means the world to our family.
Butterfly lodge is a place that truly cares for its residents, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Thankyou so much Ashley for your lovely review which i will share with the team.
Every visit to Butterfly Home reminds me of the power of love and care in making a difference in people live, thank you to all the staff for being angels on earth
Thank you so much for your kind words. Your recognition means the world to us. At Butterfly Lodge, we are truly honoured to walk alongside our residents with love and compassion every day. It's a privilege to be part of their journey.
My husband and I would like to thank the management team, and the entire team at Butterfly Lodge for the loving care and attention that they all showed my mother who, having been a resident for the last sixteen months, finally passed away recently. Her dementia had got progressively worse over time and eventually, it caught up with her. The care that she was given and the kindness shown to me, towards the end, whilst I was with her, was exceptional and we can not recommend the home or the staff enough.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We really miss your lovely mum.
I can't speak highly enough of Butterfly Loge. My mum (age 102 in July) has been a resident there since May 2022 and has always received the highest level of care from every member of the team. I would highly recommend Butterfly for anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones.
Thank you, Brad, for your review, we very much appreciate this.
After experiencing a number of other care homes, finally, at Butterfly Lodge, we have found staff and an environment that we trust are very well-equipped to take care of our parent's needs. The team understand dementia well and are patient, caring and compassionate, also creative in stimulating and entertaining the residents. Food also very good! Thank you all.
Thank you for your lovely review which I will pass on to the team.
I love helping out here and really enjoy the time I spend in Butterfly Lodge.
Thank you, Diane, it's lovely to have you here supporting the residents and our activity team.
Excellent care, all staff have been so caring, understanding not just for my mother but for the whole family. This is the first a family member has had to go into care and we couldn't fault them, brilliant at everything they do.
Thank you so much for your lovely review which I will share with the team.
My mum has dementia and has been a resident at Butterfly Lodge since 2024. She has flourished since living here. We were really struggling, as a family, to meet her needs at home but since moving here, Mum has received the absolute best care, round-the-clock care, regular updates from all the staff. There's always a friendly face when we visit. Highly recommend.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do a review, I will share this with the team.
My father has received excellent care over the past couple of years. He is treated with patience and kindness by all of the staff at the home, who work hard looking after him. Especially now that he has mobility issues and has to depend totally on the help of the carers. He really enjoys the food and often tells me that it is very tasty. His room has been kept spotlessly clean and tidy, as are his clothes. Each week there is either entertainment, singalongs, pampering sessions or trips to the memory cafe. I am kept informed of any changes to his health by the excellent nursing staff who are always on hand.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, I will share this with the team.
His room was always immaculate in cleanliness and food always looked so appealing and nourishing.
At end-of-life, he was treated with such dignity and respect and we will never forget that.
Thank you so much, this is very much appreciated. It was a real pleasure to care for your lovely dad.
I am so pleased with the level of care in this home, everything has been amazing and I cannot fault the care given to my wife. The past two years have been wonderful and the staff have always treated my wife with dignity and respect. I am always welcomed into the home and have built great relationships with management and everyone there, they've all been great.
Thank you, Les, for your lovely review which I will share with the team.
My wife came with a few health issues when she started living at Butterfly Lodge on the 17th of September 2024. The care she has received since has been outstanding and the health issues are showing signs of improvement every day. All the carers and management staff are so helpful with any questions that I might seek answers to. The whole building is spotlessly clean and there is a weekly programme of activities in place to stimulate the clients and everyone is well looked after. I cannot think of a single negative issue to highlight, I'm so happy my wife is living there, I can visit at any time and that also applies to friends and family.
Thank you for your lovely review, I will pass on these comments with the team, it has been wonderful watching your wife improve and seeing her enjoying herself getting involved with activities.
All staff are caring and friendly. Always go the extra mile for residents and residents' families. Management is very approachable. Residents are well cared for. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Food extremely good. Outside grounds and garden are tended and well-kept. A slight hiccup with activities or lack of due to staff shortages recently but overall, residents enjoy off-site activities such as the memory cafe, pub visits and garden centres etc. As well as singalongs, pamper sessions and well-being activities in the home. Visiting singers, visiting animals, baking and Christmas wreath making etc. Overall, an excellent care home.
Thank you for your lovely review which we really appreciate and I will share with the team. As you are aware, due to unforeseen reasons, activities didn't happen as much as usual for a couple of weeks but I'm pleased to say that the activities team are now back and providing seven-day-a-week support.
When times were tough, the staff looked after us so well above and beyond. The staff were caring for our mum's needs and us too. Couldn't have asked for anything else they were all very respectful. The staff always put the residents first nothing is too much trouble. The place is clean and the residents have everything they want or need.
Thank you so much for your lovely review but also thank you for being such a lovely supportive family.
Butterfly Lodge is a wonderful home, well maintained and has a friendly feel. I can see the residents are well looked after. 10 out of 10.
Thank you so much for taking the time to complete a review, I will share this with the team.
You have been very good. Thanks for looking after my dad and all your hard work. Keep up your great work, caring is not always easy to do and you are good at your jobs, always helpful and friendly, thank you.
Thank you for your lovely review. It is a pleasure to care for your dad.
Great home, my mother-in-law feels like she is at home when visiting. The staff at all levels are warm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them, very clean and smells fresh, all the food is made from scratch every day with lovely snacks made for the residents. I cannot say enough about Butterfly Lodge I highly recommend it.
Thank you for your lovely review, we truly appreciate this.

Meet the Team (10)

I am a Registered mental health nurse and worked for 30 years in the NHS, I then moved on to be a General manager in nursing/Dementia homes. I am passionate about my job and love to build relationships with residents and their families.
I came to Butterfly Lodge in 2021 and have been enjoying getting to know the residents, staff and relatives. I strive to ensure that the residents have an amazing quality of life with the best care and support from our staff and enriching activities to participate in. As a team, we aim to provide a fun environment where everyone feels valued and safe in an inclusive home.

I have over seven years of experience working in dementia care and joined Butterfly Lodge in 2019 as a Senior Health Care Assistant. Over time, I progressed into a Nursing Assistant role and proudly supported the management team during the COVID-19 pandemic, including working as a COVID Marshal to help keep residents, families and staff safe.
Since 2020, I have worked closely alongside the Registered Manager and was officially appointed Deputy Manager in 2021. I am passionate, caring, and always place the needs, dignity and well-being of our residents at the heart of everything I do. I am extremely proud of the strong, trusting relationships I have built with residents’ relatives and friends, and I believe open communication and compassion are key to providing high-quality care.

I joined Camelot Care in 2004 as a registered nurse. I am dedicated to my role and I am passionate about providing good quality care to our residents. I always have a professional manner with everyone, residents, family and other professionals.

I joined Camelot Care in 2002, I have a customer care background and am passionate about making sure our clients receive the best care possible and making sure all clients and family members feel welcome in the home.

I joined Butterfly Lodge in 2012 as a health care assistant and truly found my calling, I completed my NVQ 3 and became a Senior HCA soon after. I was always looking to gain more knowledge and so when I had the opportunity to undertake a nursing assistant training programme, I jumped at the chance. The course gave me so much more knowledge and understanding or medication management, wound care and care planning processes. in 2015 I was promoted to Nursing assistant and work alongside the Registered Nurse

In my role as dementia Lead for the home, I ensure the team are guided to ensure they provide the highest level of care supporting our residents.

I joined Butterfly Lodge in 2008 while I was still at school working in the kitchen and laundry, when I was old enough I moved over to care and worked as a health care assistant eventually completing my NVQ level 2 and 3 in Adult Social Care and went on to become senior. I undertook further training in medication and tissue viability so I can support the nurses as a nursing assistant

I joined Butterfly Lodge in 2003 as a chef and became head chef in 2022. in my time as head chef I curated a more seasonal homecooked menu as well as working with the dietitian to reduce the need for additional prescribed supplements to tackle weight loss by trialling homemade 'Super Shakes' which have been a huge success. We have scored 5 stars in our food hygiene inspection and in 2024 the whole kitchen team were proud to win the culinary team of the year at the celebrating excellence awards

I joined the team in 2009 as Activity Coordinator, I have a real passion for getting to know residents and take a real interest into their lives before coming to our home, I have built great relationships with residents and their family and friends. we have enjoyed 100s of trips to all sorts of places in our mini bus

I joined the team as head of housekeeping in 2019, I have a real passion for keeping our home well presented, clean and safe and take real pride in this.
