My husband and I would like to thank the management team, and the entire team at Butterfly Lodge for the loving care and attention that they all showed my mother who, having been a resident for the last sixteen months, finally passed away recently. Her dementia had got progressively worse over time
and eventually, it caught up with her. The care that she was given and the kindness shown to me, towards the end, whilst I was with her, was exceptional and we can not recommend the home or the staff enough.
Reply from Clare Sinclair, Manager at Butterfly LodgeThank you so much for your lovely review. We really miss your lovely mum.

I can't speak highly enough of Butterfly Loge. My mum (age 102 in July) has been a resident there since May 2022 and has always received the highest level of care from every member of the team. I would highly recommend Butterfly for anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones.

After experiencing a number of other care homes, finally, at Butterfly Lodge, we have found staff and an environment that we trust are very well-equipped to take care of our parent's needs. The team understand dementia well and are patient, caring and compassionate, also creative in stimulating and
entertaining the residents. Food also very good! Thank you all.

I am most impressed about the very caring culture of staff in Butterfly Lodge. Their skill at managing difficult behaviour. Everyone, from the cleaners, the laundry workers the handyman etc., has time for the residents. The care staff are very busy but still make time to listen and show interest in
everyone. All of the staff know every resident well, their personalities, their likes and dislikes as well as their backgrounds and previous lives. Which means they are seen as whole persons and not just how they present under the effect of dementia. I work with the activities team who take people out whenever they can and if not, find things to do indoors. Special dates are marked, for example at Valentine's, a meal is arranged for them with their partners and the tables are laid up like a really nice restaurant. Burns night will involve a Scottish piper and haggis for dinner etc.
I love helping out here and really enjoy the time I spend in Butterfly Lodge.

My mum has dementia and has been a resident at Butterfly Lodge since 2024. She has flourished since living here. We were really struggling, as a family, to meet her needs at home but since moving here, Mum has received the absolute best care, round-the-clock care, regular updates from all the staff.
There's always a friendly face when we visit. Highly recommend.

My father has received excellent care over the past couple of years. He is treated with patience and kindness by all of the staff at the home, who work hard looking after him. Especially now that he has mobility issues and has to depend totally on the help of the carers. He really enjoys the food and
often tells me that it is very tasty. His room has been kept spotlessly clean and tidy, as are his clothes. Each week there is either entertainment, singalongs, pampering sessions or trips to the memory cafe. I am kept informed of any changes to his health by the excellent nursing staff who are always on hand.

Excellent care and compassion at all times. Dad was so well cared for and us, as a family.
His room was always immaculate in cleanliness and food always looked so appealing and nourishing.
At end-of-life, he was treated with such dignity and respect and we will never forget that.

I am so pleased with the level of care in this home, everything has been amazing and I cannot fault the care given to my wife. with management and everyone there, they've all been great.

My wife came with a few health issues when she started living at Butterfly Lodge on the 17th of September 2024. The care she has received since has been outstanding and the health issues are showing signs of improvement every day. All the carers and management staff are so helpful with any questions
that I might seek answers to. The whole building is spotlessly clean and there is a weekly programme of activities in place to stimulate the clients and everyone is well looked after. I cannot think of a single negative issue to highlight, I'm so happy my wife is living there, I can visit at any time and that also applies to friends and family.
Reply from Clare Sinclair, Manager at Butterfly LodgeThank you for your lovely review, I will pass on these comments with the team, it has been wonderful watching your wife improve and seeing her enjoying herself getting involved with activities.

All staff are caring and friendly. Always go the extra mile for residents and residents' families. Management is very approachable. Residents are well cared for. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Food extremely good. Outside grounds and garden are tended and well-kept. A slight hiccup with activities
or lack of due to staff shortages recently but overall, residents enjoy off-site activities such as the memory cafe, pub visits and garden centres etc. As well as singalongs, pamper sessions and well-being activities in the home. Visiting singers, visiting animals, baking and Christmas wreath making etc. Overall, an excellent care home.
Reply from Clare Sinclair, Manager at Butterfly LodgeThank you for your lovely review which we really appreciate and I will share with the team. As you are aware, due to unforeseen reasons, activities didn't happen as much as usual for a couple of weeks but I'm pleased to say that the activities team are now back and providing seven-day-a-week support.

My mother has been a resident at Butterfly Lodge for more than two years now. The staff have always been amazing. This March it was my parent's anniversary and the staff went out of their way to contact my brother and I for photos and a little back story of their lives together. They asked my dad to
come up for a special lunch and they decorated my mum's room, had a special table set for the lunch with flowers and had the “jolly trolley” set up with a video showing all of their photos while playing their favourite old songs! We were blown away with this! There have been many other instances like this over the years. Kind, caring, and compassionate staff who work as a team to give the best care possible to their patients.

We will forever be in your debt.
The room was warm and comfortable with lovely pictures on the wall. It was always clean and tidy.
We were very fortunate to have Mum placed with them.
We

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.927)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.927) out of 10 for Butterfly Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.927 for Butterfly Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (418 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 451 Ratings = 4.927
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Butterfly Lodge is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
