Over all time Butterfly Lodge has 88 reviews.
My partner was cared for at Butterfly Lodge for two years, in this time I found he was treated with kindness and dignity. The home was always busy with activities and outside entertainers until covid hit, but the home continued to make sure residents had the same high level of care and enriching activities to participate in. Staff always seemed happy and were approachable and easy to talk to. I would recommend this home to anyone who has been put into the difficult position of putting their loved one into a care home.
Thank you for your lovely review. We certainly enjoy having entertainers and love the fact the home is always busy and happy.
This care home is outstanding! My father was in a different care home before Butterfly Lodge and we moved home because this is no closer to home. The staff here care for my father as well as anyone could ever wish for. Not only do they provide excellent care for my father, but they also support the whole family in this difficult time.
Thank you so much for your lovely review which I will share with the team it is a real pleasure knowing and caring for your dad.
Amazing care home and fantastic staff. Both my Grandparents lived their final few months at Butterfly Lodge, and neither I nor any other family member can fault the staff or management for their great work and support. On the other hand, Camelot Care who own the Lodge should think about allowing more than 6 hours before they email an invoice to a family member the bill for a recently deceased family member's care. That is just disgusting behaviour. They should have a set reasonable time scale to allow the family to grieve before sending invoices.
Thank you for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure to care for both of them. I will pass your feedback on to head office. Kindest regards.
Mum is being well looked after; she is enjoying her time at the home. No worries for us, as she has 24-hour care, which gives us peace of mind. I see her social distancing; she is always smiling and laughing, so I know she is happy and has no problems. The staff are wonderful and caring.
Thank you for your kind words. We are pleased that you are happy with the care your mum receives. I will pass your comments on to the staff. Kind regards, Wiseman-Bradbury Home Manager.
Best of all, a very good Facebook page.
Thank you for your kind words, we like to ensure that our Butterfly Friends enjoy their lives as much as they can - Kind regards - Abby Wiseman- GM
My wife had been to two care homes prior to Butterfly. First was abominable, the second palatial and caring but Butterfly, being a dedicated dementia home was excellent. The staff could not be any more attentive, caring, loving and treated my wife as an individual and gave her all respect, till her passing. Because of Covid 19 we were only able to visit twice but the staff looked after my daughter and I as their own, respect, caring, loving and sympathetic. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind review Bert, it was a pleasure knowing you. I will pass your comments on to the staff. Kind regards, Abby Wiseman, Home manager.
My friend of 66yrs is cared for in this remarkable home and she absolutely loves it there. Every single member of staff cares for her and all the residents as if they were their own! I really cannot praise them enough, nothing is too much trouble and every care is taken to ensure that each individual is clean comfortable and most importantly, loved! Friends and relatives are always made welcome and are free to ask anything they need to know. There is always entertainment in some form, singing, dancing, crafting, trips. I would never hesitate to recommend Butterfly Lodge to anyone. Thank you all!
Thank you for your kind words, Carol. It's a pleasure to care for them as if our own family. Kind regards. A Wiseman Manager
The last ten months since he has been at Butterfly Lodge, the care and attention given to my brother-in-law have been of a very high order, by all staff members and home manager. Nothing was too much trouble, always there to answer your questions. I will recommend this home to anyone.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We will miss you all. Please come back and see us once this is all over and stay in touch. Best wishes to you both. Abby Wiseman, Home Manager.
I visit 6 days out of 7 and I am impressed by the office staff plus all the caring staff who treat their residents with time, love and patience. I myself could not ask for anything better than this, all I can say is a very big thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. It was pleasure to have supported your husband during his time here. Kind regards.
I'm very happy with the care Butterfly Lodge provides for my dad. He is very happy there. All the staff are lovely and welcoming and any questions I have are always answered. Dad enjoys going on trips and sings along on days when a singer attends. I feel at ease knowing dad is safe and well cared for. His meals always look appetising and the staff make sure he's drinking enough water/fluids. They have excellent communication in letting me know anything that occurs ie doctor's visits etc. Very happy.
Always found Butterfly Lodge to be a very friendly nursing home, very attentive staff, always very loving toward my dear Mum, her room is always kept up to high standard - since the new manager has taken over the home looks so much brighter and colourful, and always looks pristine.
Thank you so much for your kind words. The staff have made a lot of progress this year and I will share your kind words with them. Merry Christmas from all here at Butterfly. Abby Wiseman-Bradbury Home Manager.
I am very pleased with how the staff are really caring for the residents. They have looked after my Dad brilliantly. They welcome you. This is a very good place and would recommend it extremely. Very caring.
Thank you for your kind words. It's a pleasure to look after your dad - will pass your comments on to our team. A. Wiseman-Bradbury, Registered Manager.
More frequent trips from the home to the surrounding area over the last year are great with mum able to see the outside world.
Thank you for your kind words, at Butterfly we aim to ensure everyone lives life to the fullest including engaging regularly with the community. Kind regards, A.Wiseman-Bradbury Registered Manager.
This place is terrible. My Dad was a resident in there for 4 months before the family decided to move him in Feb 2019. In those four months he fell out of bed 5 times, he was left alone late at night in the lounge and fell. He woke early in the morning and it was noted on the sheet that he was awake in the next hour he fell and broke his hip and was on the floor for an hour before he was eventually seen. Do not send loved ones to this place. It's awful.
Hello Janette- I'm very sorry to hear you had a poor experience whilst being in this home. The home is now under new management as Butterfly Lodge and as this complaint was related to November last year up until February this year I do not have any information regarding this. However, I can assure...
My husband is well cared for and respected. Obviously, a home for Dementia sufferers can have its problems, but any concerns that I have were dealt with immediately and the staff listen to any problems that Dementia may throw up. Residents are encouraged to engage in activities and there is entertainment regularly. The majority of the staff are kind and caring, way beyond and job description. My husband enjoys the meals and the laundry is dealt with very efficiently. For me, the staff are the most important factor.
All the staff are polite, helpful and work very hard. They do a very difficult job and make it look easy.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I will pass your comments to the care staff.
My sister has been in this home for approximately 10 years and I have never had cause to complain about her care. She was in two homes before and this is the best one by far that she has been in. They always let you know if anything is wrong and this I appreciate very much.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We will continue to support and care for your sister through her time with us.
There is a happy and positive atmosphere with lots of daily activities, quizzes and trips out. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
Lovely staff and carers who are constantly involved and treat everyone with such care and compassion.
The manager's door is always open and she is more than happy to talk through any concerns you may have.
A very caring and energised home.
Thank you for your kind comments. Our door is always open to you. Butterfly Lodge.
The building is a bit shabby but don't let that put you off, the care here is unbelievably good.
My father had dementia and a stroke that left him severely disabled - he was here from Jan until he died this week. Throughout this time and, in particular, at the end of his life, the care was exceptional- he was very well looked after and made as comfortable as he possibly could be and the staff genuinely care, eg. the deputy manager came in on her day off to sign off a morphine injection when he was in pain. Deputy Manager and Senior carers stood out to me for their unbelievable care but, without exception, the team are amazing and alongside brilliant care, always made us feel very welcome.
If you have a relative who requires care from a well trained, kind and committed team, I can't recommend this place enough. You hear many bad stories but this place flies in the face of that, faultless and so grateful for the care provided to my father in his last months!
Thank you so much for your kind words. Were so pleased that the hard work that the staff do shows through and can be recognised. We are currently obtaining quotes to uplift the building's décor. Please remember our door is always open so feel free to pop in and see us from time to time. Kind regards Butterfly Lodge
My brother and I have been very pleased with the care given by the staff at Freshfields to my mother. It is a difficult job done with compassion. She has always been warm, comfortable and cared for sometimes under difficult circumstances. Staff changeover is fairly high as is not uncommon but they do well.
Thank you for your kind comments. We appreciate the time you have taken to leave us a comment, we wish you well for the future

Meet the Team (10)

I am a Registered mental health nurse and worked for 30 years in the NHS, I then moved on to be a General manager in nursing/Dementia homes. I am passionate about my job and love to build relationships with residents and their families.
I came to Butterfly Lodge in 2021 and have been enjoying getting to know the residents, staff and relatives. I strive to ensure that the residents have an amazing quality of life with the best care and support from our staff and enriching activities to participate in. As a team, we aim to provide a fun environment where everyone feels valued and safe in an inclusive home.

I have over seven years of experience working in dementia care and joined Butterfly Lodge in 2019 as a Senior Health Care Assistant. Over time, I progressed into a Nursing Assistant role and proudly supported the management team during the COVID-19 pandemic, including working as a COVID Marshal to help keep residents, families and staff safe.
Since 2020, I have worked closely alongside the Registered Manager and was officially appointed Deputy Manager in 2021. I am passionate, caring, and always place the needs, dignity and well-being of our residents at the heart of everything I do. I am extremely proud of the strong, trusting relationships I have built with residents’ relatives and friends, and I believe open communication and compassion are key to providing high-quality care.

I joined Camelot Care in 2004 as a registered nurse. I am dedicated to my role and I am passionate about providing good quality care to our residents. I always have a professional manner with everyone, residents, family and other professionals.

I joined Camelot Care in 2002, I have a customer care background and am passionate about making sure our clients receive the best care possible and making sure all clients and family members feel welcome in the home.

I joined Butterfly Lodge in 2012 as a health care assistant and truly found my calling, I completed my NVQ 3 and became a Senior HCA soon after. I was always looking to gain more knowledge and so when I had the opportunity to undertake a nursing assistant training programme, I jumped at the chance. The course gave me so much more knowledge and understanding or medication management, wound care and care planning processes. in 2015 I was promoted to Nursing assistant and work alongside the Registered Nurse

In my role as dementia Lead for the home, I ensure the team are guided to ensure they provide the highest level of care supporting our residents.

I joined Butterfly Lodge in 2008 while I was still at school working in the kitchen and laundry, when I was old enough I moved over to care and worked as a health care assistant eventually completing my NVQ level 2 and 3 in Adult Social Care and went on to become senior. I undertook further training in medication and tissue viability so I can support the nurses as a nursing assistant

I joined Butterfly Lodge in 2003 as a chef and became head chef in 2022. in my time as head chef I curated a more seasonal homecooked menu as well as working with the dietitian to reduce the need for additional prescribed supplements to tackle weight loss by trialling homemade 'Super Shakes' which have been a huge success. We have scored 5 stars in our food hygiene inspection and in 2024 the whole kitchen team were proud to win the culinary team of the year at the celebrating excellence awards

I joined the team in 2009 as Activity Coordinator, I have a real passion for getting to know residents and take a real interest into their lives before coming to our home, I have built great relationships with residents and their family and friends. we have enjoyed 100s of trips to all sorts of places in our mini bus

I joined the team as head of housekeeping in 2019, I have a real passion for keeping our home well presented, clean and safe and take real pride in this.
