My mum was moved to Freshfields by Derriford for what was to be the last three weeks of her life. I found that the level of care she received during those weeks was first class. The care and compassion shown were excellent, and she was treated with dignity. She had previously been in a care home which
displayed none of the care and compassion. I am so happy her last weeks were spent in such a warm loving atmosphere.

My mother passed away in February this year. Mum had been at Freshfields for four years and they cared for my mum as if she was their own, they loved and cared for her. Mum's care was second to none (outstanding). When mum passed, the staff were outstanding once again, nothing was too much trouble for
them. They made my family at ease. Mums passing was made very peaceful by the girls, with Vera Lynn playing in the background, mum passed away with a smile on her face.

Private "tucked away" nursing home - one of Plymouth's best-kept secrets. Specialising in dementia and Alzheimer's care the home is professionally run with a caring, competent manager and truly wonderful staff. The rooms all have ensuites and are very comfortable.
There is a good GP practice nearby
and family can visit anytime during the day.
Relatives can be assured that their loved ones will be afforded every care and attention - a really lovely place to reside in.

The staff in this home showed extreme professionalism, commitment and respect in all aspects of dealing with my mother in the short time (from the beginning of August) that she spent in Freshfields up until her death on the 28th of September.


Her dignity was always foremost in their minds, and their

compassion was evident throughout. Words will never fully explain the love and care they gave her.

I am so glad I found this home for my Mother, she is well looked after and all the staff are very kind and loving towards her. She visibly enjoys the varied activities held each week and I have noticed that her level of communication has increased as a result. Freshfields is a very friendly and caring
home and I would strongly recommend it.

My mum has been at Freshfields for two and a half years now. Since mum has been at Freshfields she has been treated with the utmost of care and attention. Ensuring that her dignity and respect are fully taken into account. The staff are very friendly and are very caring. The management are always available
if I have any concerns towards any aspect of mums care. Overall Freshfields is a very friendly and caring home and I can't thank everyone enough for all their hard work and dedication.

I recently accompanied a widow to a remembrance service for those who had recently died in the home. The staff were wonderful, providing tea and refreshments including a large cake with names of the past residences. Freshfields were in no way obliged to hold this service but did so because they all
care.

I am a Registered mental health nurse and worked for 30 years in the NHS, I then moved on to be a General manager in nursing/Dementia homes. I am passionate about my job and love to build relationships with residents and their families.


I came to Butterfly Lodge in 2021 and have been enjoying getting to know the residents, staff and relatives. I strive to ensure that the residents have an amazing quality of life with the best care and support from our staff and enriching activities to participate in. As a team, we aim to provide a fun environment where everyone feels valued and safe in an inclusive home.

We have scored 5 stars in our food hygiene inspection and in 2024 the whole kitchen team were proud to win the culinary team of the year at the celebrating excellence awards
