Set beside the beautiful Robinswood Hill Country Park, Brunswick House is a welcoming 1940s mock Tudor home offering tailored care and heartfelt support. Whether you're looking for residential, nursing, dementia, respite, day or palliative care, the experienced team is here to make every day that little bit easier – and a lot more joyful.

Care needs may change over time. That’s why Brunswick House offers both residential and nursing care, meaning residents can continue to live in the same familiar surroundings even as their needs evolve, with no disruption or need to move elsewhere.

Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, many with en-suite facilities, and the home has plenty of shared spaces to enjoy – including two lounges, a bright and airy conservatory, and a peaceful courtyard and garden that’s perfect for sunny afternoons or catch-ups with family.

There’s always something going on – from visits to local animal sanctuaries and interactive storytelling sessions, to themed afternoons and gardening clubs. Every activity is optional and thoughtfully planned to suit different tastes and abilities.

Mealtimes are another highlight, with freshly prepared dishes cooked on-site each day by the talented in-house chef. Menus are shaped around residents’ preferences and dietary needs – because good food and good care go hand in hand.

Brunswick House is more than a care home. It’s a place where people feel known, valued, and genuinely cared for.

Has seen as we walked in the front door at Brunswick House Nursing Home, we felt comfortable and welcome. The staff are so friendly and always smile when they see you even though they are busy. When visiting at meal times the food is amazing and if he doesn't like his meal they will make him something
he wants. The manageress is lovely and always comes and chats with you. All the staff are amazing.

My Nan stayed at Brunswick for a number of years, over those years she made friends with fellow residents but also the nurses and carers. Over the course of those years, I witnessed some exceptional care from the carers and some of the nurses there. We as a family feel Brunswick let us down when we
needed them to listen to us the most. When my Nan fell unwell it was us that noticed this before some of the nurses and it was us that had to ask for a doctor to see her. We feel as a family we were listened to or given the level of respect that we deserved at an already difficult time. This however only reflects on a few individuals as the majority of the workers in particular the carers was fantastic! In fact, most of the carers work very hard to keep the residents happy. We feel Brunswick could benefit from more staff, and we feel the carers, in particular, are the ones keeping this nursing home in general good shape. Improvements need to be made with management and some of the nurses.
Reply from Rachael White, Manager at Brunswick House Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to review our service. I am sorry to hear that you did not have an entirely positive experience. We have made changes in the areas you have highlighted as needing improvements, and it is our hope that these changes will result in expectations being exceeded. I will pass on your comments to the team and again thank you for your feedback.

My father was sent here after a long hospital stay for assessment. The staff from the start were helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. When the time came for dad to slip away, the support from staff and management was exceptional. I am so glad dad was sent here for his end-of-life care,
I felt comfortable and confident after each visit that he was being cared for very well. The building is light and clean with none of that horrible smell some nursing homes can have. The room my father was in was clean, light and airy. To all the staff and management at Brunswick, you know who you are, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, care and attention you gave my father (I know he wasn't easy at times) and the time and support you gave me at each visit and on that last day, I will be forever grateful. On another note, the homemade apple pies and cupcakes were divine thank you!
Reply from Rachael White, Manager at Brunswick House Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind review and for taking the time to complete it, Tricia. We were all so fond of your father and your family. I will let the dedicated staff team know about your wonderful review.

Overall an acceptable experience, the staff are normally very helpful and Mum often comments on how well treated she is.
Mum definitely enjoys the food and the generous flow of hot drinks.

My mother is 100-years-old and hoped to stay always in her own home, so we were a little worried when it no longer became possible, and she moved into Brunswick House. She has, however, been very happy and settled and looks on Brunswick House as a lovely place where she is well cared for, where she
loves the staff and enjoys the company of other residents. As a family, we are happy to see how settled any receiving the best care, food and attention. We are extremely grateful to all the staff at Brunswick House who have made this home for her.

From the very first contact to our final goodbye, all the staff at Brunswick House were professional, helpful, courteous and nothing was ever too much trouble. Our loved one was very reluctant to go into care, however, it didn't take him long to settle and feel safe, secure and at ease. He was always
treated with respect and dignity by everyone who played a role in his care. As a family during the last stages of his life, the staff were incredibly sensitive to his and our needs and went out of their way to support us all.

My husband went into this home for 2 weeks respite. During his stay he got a bad UTI and rapid response came several times to support him. He finally stayed for three and a half weeks. He always said the food was very good and the staff very kind. I phoned regularly and always felt the staff cared,
were friendly and very supportive. I visited once due to the pandemic and it felt very safe and secure.

Brunswick House really tried their best for my mum. They tried so hard to find food that Mum might be able to eat and were very caring towards her. Friendly and sincere staff, very understanding and accommodating, especially at difficult times with the lockdown rules.

From the start of last December (2019) when my mother was admitted, the staff have been extremely friendly, helpful and caring. It was a shock for it to come to this, but smooth transition helped. During the trying times of COVID-19, the home has done its utmost to keep us informed, updated and involved.
It has been wonderful when it's such a distressing time.

Very difficult time with COVID-19 to deal with and I think the home is being challenged in many ways. I would like to thank all the staff for all their hard work and commitment during this stressful time. My only concern is lack of communication but understand this is due to staff shortage and being
stretched to their limits.

The care, compassion, and kindness shown have been incredible. Every member of the staff has been wonderful, we are so grateful. The staff took the time to get to know mum and provided such personal care. Every visit we made over 5 months was the same. We were welcomed and kept informed. Food, hygiene,
and nursing care are all excellent. Thank you Brunswick House.

Mum was transferred here from the hospital, and we were told she was in the final stages of her life. At that time; she was bed-ridden and not eating. Since being here, she has started to eat, and we can now have a conversation albeit in between naps.
She is unable to take part in any activities and
is rarely out of the bed, but the staff care for her incredibly well and have an excellent understanding of her needs.

My mother has been a resident of Brunswick House for four and a half years now. I can honestly say the care, love and support both myself and my mother have had has been first-class. Anyone can surely see that the caring staff and in fact all the staff, have all of the residents and make the whole environment
feel as if they are all living in their own homes. I am so pleased my mother is part of this amazing home and I would recommend to anyone.

Poor care home, smells all the time. Staff appear to not be very well trained and appear to not know what they are doing with my relative. She was, in my opinion, looked after incorrectly and most of the time forgotten about more than once. My opinion is they didn't want her there and everything they
said they could do they didn't and we complained all the time. We were glad to move her out.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.766)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.766) out of 10 for Brunswick House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.766 for Brunswick House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (206 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 252 Ratings = 4.766
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brunswick House Nursing Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
