I think the Coombs is a great home in every way from carers to cleaners and gardener. Food is great and very clean. Well run home, plenty of activities going on. So glad we were able to get a place for Mum here. The home always very warm and welcoming. Mum and all the family looking forward to a good Christmas. PS Mum celebrated her 100th birthday here in September. Everyone had a great time.

The Coombs is a super home from the first day mum arrived both for her and all the family. Always the same whatever time of day we arrive the home is very clean, friendly i.e. all the staff all very genuine. Mum loved her home but she has settled in very quickly and loves all the staff. Meals are very good. Cannot fault The Coombs. Mum happy, also all the family.

I could not have wished for a better place for Dad to spend his final weeks. All the staff were brilliant, very caring and attentive to dads needs while listening to and looking after relatives. The Coombs has a very pleasant, happy and clean atmosphere.

Jade MainwaringJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2020

Jade Mainwaring became the Home Manager at The Coombs in 2020. Working in the care sector for over 17 years, with nine years in management roles. She holds a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management and a Level 3 Health and Social Care.

Starting work in a care home at the age of 17, Jade wasn’t intending to stay in the sector, but she likes to think that care chose her. Jade believes that if you are a passionate person then this line of work is one you can never leave.

Jade says that being a Home Manager can be challenging at times, but she has an amazing team who all work through the difficult moments together. Jade always ensures that the highest level of person-centred care is delivered. She also says that developing the team and implementing an open culture is highly important.

Jade said: “I am passionate about care quality and developing a model of care to achieve outstanding outcomes. I believe in OSJCT’s values and, having rejoined the Trust previously, I am excited to be back as a Home Manager."

In Jade’s spare time, she spends time with her two young children.

Jackie JonesJob Title:Specialist Senior Care LeaderJoined: 1995

Jackie is our Specialist Senior Care Leader and has over 25 years of experience to contribute in this pivotal role at The Coombs.

“I initially started working at The Coombs back in April 1993. My children were getting older which gave me the time to start working again. I found out about a local job at The Coombs from a family friend and decided to give it a try – 27 years later and I am still here!”

Jackie has a brilliant knowledge of the care industry and enjoys using her experience to help other members of the care team.

“The best part about working at The Coombs is getting to know our wonderful residents and supporting the rest of the staff team whenever I can.”

It is only natural that things will have considerably changed over Jackie’s time at The Coombs, but she continues to set high standards of herself and the team which has contributed to The Coombs’ consistently high reputation in the local community. This is something Jackie is very proud of.

And the best time of year at The Coombs? Well that’s an easy one for Jackie. “We don’t have a Christmas Day at The Coombs… we have a Christmas month! Christmas at The Coombs is always a rewarding time of year when we bring the staff, our residents and the community together.”
