Paternoster House offers up to 40 residents compassionate, individualised residential, nursing and respite care. The home is situated in a quiet area of Cirencester, a renowned Cotswold market town. The home has pretty, well-maintained gardens, is close to the church and pleasant parkland and within a short walking distance of the shops.

Cosy lounges are available to relax in, as is the secure garden on sunny days and social activities take place daily for your enjoyment. If however, you'd like a little more privacy, then your own bedroom offers a peaceful oasis. To give you the support you need when you need it, a friendly, professionally trained team are on hand around-the-clock to support you in how you wish to spend your day enabling you to continue to enjoy a fulfilling and independent lifestyle.

A dedicated Activities Coordinator organises a varied programme of events around each individual's requests, hobbies and interests. The team will be delighted to assist you to continue with existing pastimes, as well as give you the opportunity to try something new if you would like to. They make sure everyone is able to enjoy themselves to the fullest, be that with arts and crafts, a coffee morning or more individual pursuits. Visits from outside entertainers happen regularly. The home has access to a Trust minibus for trips out.

A talented cook and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals. The freshly prepared, delicious dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and take into account individual dietary requirements and preferences. Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join.

Your fees cover several areas while in their care.
These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and
snacks, laundry (excluding dry cleaning),
housekeeping, maintenance and activities run by the
home.


Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

Visited a family friend here at the weekend and despite having been through the pandemic the caring ethos of this home is second to none. A beautiful afternoon where nothing was too much trouble, thank you everyone.

Mum has now been a resident for four years at Paternoster, during which time, she has survived Covid and celebrated both her 100th and 101st birthday. She is very well cared for, any issues I have raised have been resolved promptly and efficiently. The staff, including receptionists, management, nurses
and housekeeping are always kind, caring and friendly towards Mum and also myself. Mum frequently says how happy and contented she is at Paternoster, which is a great comfort to know.

The staff at Paternoster House work extremely hard to create a family atmosphere, which is evident immediately you approach the reception area. Residents are listened to and comforted when necessary. Activities are provided for them to participate in and great support given, everyone takes an interest.
The food appears to be of a high standard and a choice given. The staff ably support the residents, the families and each other.

My grandfather is very happy and content at Paternoster. The transition from independent living couldn’t have been made any easier both physically and mentally. The personal, individual attention he receives is second to none; his family and friends have also been made to feel like part of the Paternoster
family with the excellent communication which is always forthcoming and the friendliness of the staff who are very welcoming and obliging. The home is professionally run by its management team (particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic) and to date, I have seen very little staff turnover meaning residents and their families are able to forge strong relationships. The facilities and rooms are of a high standard; cosy and welcoming. My grandfather is constantly telling me how good the food is; there is always a choice at mealtimes and plenty of tea is available throughout the day! I would 100% recommend Paternoster House; a home from home with a family feel.

I cannot praise Paternoster House staff enough during this Coronvavirus pandemic, they were totally prepared, keeping us informed of what was happening, constantly cleaning and appeared to have plenty of PPE and were well prepared to go into lockdown well ahead of it actually happening.
I was in the
sad position of having my Mum deteriorate and sadly die during this time and was unable to be with her until the very end but the staff were amazing, they kept me updated throughout and at the very end I was allowed to be with her. They met at the door with mask, aprons and gloves and as far as I could see, absolutely every precaution was being taken with gloves and aprons all along the corridors. I was able to stay with her while she passed away, with the staff offering me cups of tea and support throughout and for as long as I wished to stay after she had passed, for which I will be eternally grateful.

The staff are very caring and efficient working in a high-pressure environment, with many demands put upon them. The home itself offers the necessary facilities and a varied programme of activities, trying to meet different likes. The new refurbishment is successful and offers quality surroundings and
finishing in the social areas.
The overall service is excellent, especially at a time when recruiting staff is so hard, with everyone committed to the home.

I come to sing with the residents at Paternoster House every two weeks. There is always a happy and relaxed atmosphere among both residents and staff. We sing for an hour and then have tea and cake and a chat. As a visitor, I am always made to feel welcome and it is a very enjoyable experience.

At Christmas all the stops are pulled out and residents get to be part of a big family. For some, this was a first. They also get a stocking which most have never had before. There are lots of entertainment/parties in the build-up to Christmas and the home is decorated very well, with residents helping
with trees and making decorations.

Paternoster House is a warm and friendly home.
The staff show a good understanding of the residents and their needs. The building would benefit from having money spent and so would the furniture.
My husband has settled well, although he doesn't rise much, but that is his choice.

I have very much enjoyed my stay in Paternoster House. The carers, nurses etc have been very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The place is kept spotlessly clean. I have also enjoyed getting to know the other residents (one used to teach my children at school!) and have met a lot of
real characters!
We are all on Christian name terms.

I have been a volunteer at Paternoster House for 14/15 years. My mother-in-law was a resident, so it all started from there. It is a lovely home, not a modern home. But when you go in it feels so homely. Everyone is so friendly and they have activities it is so good. Trips out and entertainers come
in so there is always something going on. I have already told them if I ever need to go into a home, it will be Paternoster House.

Sharon

Sharon Dewsbury

Job Title: Activities Co-ordinator

Joined: 2013

Sharon has worked as the Activities Co-ordinator at Paternoster House since 2013 but has worked in the care industry for over 18 years.
Sharon has completed a level 3 qualification in dementia care and has completed her care certificate too. Sharon likes that every day at work is different, one day she could be organising a party, trips out or organising outdoor games the next she could be organising dementia friendly cinemas, entertainers or just arranging a varied programme of activities that are tailored to meet the residents’ interests and preferences.
Sharon’s fondest memory is when Paternoster House had two residents who turned 100, all the staff dressed in vintage clothes from a variety of era’s, and everyone enjoyed a brilliant party.
Outside of work Sharon loves taking her two terriers for a walk and socialising with friends and family.

Lindsey

Lindsey Worthy

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2020

Lindsey is the Home Manager at Paternoster House, having taken on the role permanently in March 2025. She joined the Trust in August 2020 after relocating from Devon, where she previously ran her own catering business for 10 years.


Lindsey began her OSJCT journey as a Bursar before moving to the eCare team as a Subject Matter Expert, supporting homes across divisions with the rollout of digital care planning. In 2024, she transitioned into the Trainee Home Manager role within the Oxford division, where she achieved her Level 5 qualification in Operations Management. During this time, she also supported the reopening of the day centre at Lake House in Adderbury, which had been closed since the pandemic. Lindsey is currently working towards her Level 7 Senior Leader qualification.


Lindsey finds the most rewarding part of her role is helping residents maintain their independence. She is proud to be part of a team at Paternoster that truly feels like family.


In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys travelling, gardening, and spending time with her family.
