Paternoster House

I have been a volunteer at Paternoster House for 14/15 years. My mother-in-law was a resident, so it all started from there. It is a lovely home, not a modern home. But when you go in it feels so homely. Everyone is so friendly and they have activities it is so good. Trips out and entertainers come in so there is always something going on. I have already told them if I ever need to go into a home, it will be Paternoster House.

In our hour of need, all the staff throughout the night were fantastic. My mum didn't want to go in a home but you all made it such an easy transition even at the end my mum was treated with dignity and respect so thank you.

My mother is overall, in the best state of health and well-being that she has been for the last 2 years under the care provided by the social services.

It's a hard job looking after Gran but the team at Paternoster do a great job. They always have a smile on the face and respond with such patience. There is plenty going on to keep her amused and she is always keen to tell me about the lovely people who look after her.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. They always offer tea and biscuits when you arrive. If you require anything the staff always try and get it for you. Always lots of activities going on, which all the residents seem to enjoy and family are also welcome to join in.

The facilities provided give the residents this sense of independence with regular activities, day trips and entertainment.

The staff are always friendly and welcoming, they are always willing to help. Many activities are encouraged every day of the week, which is brilliant and also lovely to see the residents enjoying themselves or hearing all about what they have been doing when you go to visit. Clean, tidy, warm and friendly.

It is very good here. I am very happy. Staff are so good with me, which makes my wife less worried.

After arriving at Paternoster House in a very poorly way after losing her husband, she rapidly made good progress and is now back to her normal self and is very happy.

My mother has been a resident for 1 year now and has improved so much during the time here. She has become much more confident and relaxed. She has a great rapport with all the staff and residents. The activities are a great addition and enjoyed by so many of the residents. I would defiantly recommend the home.

Dad enjoys it here. Lots of activities going on to participate in which also include me. Rooms kept nice, clean and tidy. Nice that the other residents talk to you too.

Mum has been a resident of Paternoster House for nearly two and a half years and during this time she has been cared for in a kind and dignified manner, in a secure and safe environment. Mum's health has not been good during this time, but the staff have helped bring her through some difficult times, promptly responding to the various challenges she has faced. We as a family are very grateful.

Our dad was treated with extreme care and they gave us our 'old dad' back within a couple of weeks, it was amazing to see him improving and something we never imagined was possible. He had been urgently admitted to a respite bed, unable to stand unaided and extremely frail - although his disabilities are obviously still there, he's a different man and we will never be able to thank the staff and volunteers enough. When the chance became available, we needed to move him closer to home, we can only hope his health continues in the same direction.

Maybe one thing of concern, difference of opinion within the nursing staff over dosage of paracetamol given to my mother. Otherwise mum is happy and well looked after.

Mum receives excellent care. All staff adapt quickly to her changing and deteriorating condition. The nursing staff communicate frequently with the family and the manager has been extremely helpful with advice and support. The nursing home is well rooted in the community with excellent volunteer support that adds to the welcoming and home like atmosphere. It's well supported by local GP's and pharmacies. Staff at every level contribute to mum's needs.

My mother has been living in Paternoster House since January 2015. I was very concerned about her moving into residential care but have been most impressed by the care given to her. The staff have shown themselves understanding of her needs and willing to do all they can to support her in practical matters and to respond to her feelings with sensitivity.
