As you are fully aware an investigation was undertaken following a complaint by yourself. Sadly an electric shaver charging lead was misplaced and a replacement was offered to be purchased, this has yet to be taken up by you. All other complaints you have raised above were found not to be accurate, lacked evidence or were factually incorrect. Our investigation has been sent to CQC and Somerset County Council also, following a copy of your complaint that you sent to them.
I'm sorry you feel so strongly about trying to tarnish St Benedicts name, we take great pride in offering a high standard of care, and nearly all our families are extremely grateful for the care and empathy that we show them and their loved ones.
Thank you for your kind words. It's great to hear that you are so pleased with the care that your father is receiving whilst staying in our nursing home and I will pass on your kind comments to all of our staff!

Ann originally trained to become a Registered Nurse at the Charing Cross Hospital in Fulham, qualifying in 1986, and worked across a range of disciplines before relocating to Somerset in 2003. She joined us full-time in 2008.
She says: "I realised how much I enjoyed working in a nursing home environment and making a difference to the residents living there - I so love hearing our residents laughing. For me, the key is dignity, independence, respect for our residents – and having them enjoy their lives."
When not at work, Ann enjoys walking her dog, running, swimming, eating “posh nosh”, spending time in Cornwall and travelling around the UK in her VW camper van, holidays abroad, watching F1 racing and birds, and watercolour painting.
William has been with us since 2016. He previously worked in further education as a lecturer and sports coordinator.
He says: “What I love about coming into work is the sense of teamwork among our amazing staff. We work so closely together, and they make me feel proud. They all represent the homes so professionally. They’re doing a job they love and it shows! Another highlight is celebrating milestones with residents, their families and friends and the best part, by far, is sharing wonderful words of praise and gratitude about our staff.”
Outside work, William enjoys all sports – both watching and playing. He also loves watching his children play sports and "encouraging" them to watch it with him.
Philip started working full-time at St Benedict's in 2003 but previous to this worked in the kitchen at weekends washing up from the age of 16.
Philip is the son of David White, who established the business in 1984 alongside his father, Philip's grandfather Leslie.
In his 20 years at St Benedict's, the home has increased in size from a 38-bed nursing home to now a 60-bed nursing and dementia nursing home.
He says: "At the heart of the care we provide is our commitment to providing a relaxed and nurturing home-from-home environment for our residents and ensuring they retain a genuine connection with their friends and families and local communities. This is what makes our homes special and our work so rewarding.”
Philip has always lived locally growing up in Wells, Somerset where he now lives with his wife and 2 Daughters.
Bonnie is responsible for overseeing all three of our homes, supporting the managers and helping ensure overall quality, systems compliance, new care planning and supporting governance principles.
She joined us in 2023 after nearly a decade with a specialist dementia care home in Wellington, first as clinical lead for dementia care then as deputy manager.
She says: "Working in care is one of the most rewarding things you can do: knowing it’s in your hands to deliver the best quality of life for your residents and enjoying the variety of a working environment where no two days are ever the same."
A mother of two, Bonnie enjoys spending time with her children, her extended family and her dogs.
Peter has worked in the care sector for 37 years, both with the NHS and in the private mental health sector.
“Dementia care is a specialism which is less well understood than many, and it’s a condition for which there is currently no cure, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make an important difference to the lives of those we support. Every day is a learning opportunity, both for myself and the rest of my colleagues: we learn from each other and we learn from the residents. It’s such a rewarding environment.”
Outside work Peter enjoys gardening, the company of his ginger cat Lego, travelling and keeping abreast of world news. He and his wife, a counsellor and occupational therapist, have two adult children, currently both at university.
Peter’s previous roles have included orthopaedic specialist nurse manager with the NHS, and clinical lead in the private mental health sector at a specialist college for adults with brain injuries and learning disabilities.
His enthusiasm and cheerful personality are infectious, and with his natural teaching ability he is already passing on his clinical knowledge and expertise to staff in the home.
Linda has worked in the accounts field for 30 years and only started in the care home industry in November 2023. Linda has really enjoyed getting to know our residents and their families and can often be found having some fun with them in the communal areas, especially when there is music!
Linda enjoys knitting and crocheting in her spare time, along with time spent with her 2 cats, Floki & Minnie.
Valentina has worked at St Benedict's since 2018. She feels all the staff are sociable and friendly.
When Valentina is not working, she enjoys travelling to different places in this country and abroad.
Catherine feels this role suits her personality well, as she is a naturally caring person; she likes to take care of others and make a difference in their lives.
Catherine enjoys an active life, jogging in the mornings, travelling and seeing places, then relaxing with a good book...
