Sadly my mum had a stroke in late 2024 which left her needing nursing care. She has been a resident of Dunkirk Memorial Home since April 2025. In that time, I believe that Mum's care has been outstanding. I cannot praise the home enough. The care that she receives, the staff, the facilities, the setting, are second to none. Thank you, Dunkirk.

DMH is very welcoming, wonderful facility and activities and friendly and helpful staff. Laundry is also very good. Access to management by residents is poor. My concerns or areas to improve on are: 1) Quality of food - fresh meat is rarely provided; there are too many calorific desserts provided to a type 2 diabetic resident. 2) Meal times, especially lunch, are too long and noisy it precludes attendance, which in turn discourages isolation. Meals out of room should be encouraged. 3) Supplies chains of meds

My dad moved into DMH in August 2025. The personal care has been amazing and nothing has been too much trouble for the staff. The choice of food has been fantastic and great portion sizes. With a great range of choices for every resident's needs. Entertainment team are fabulous, giving a vast range of activities throughout the different seasons. Dad is only moving out due to us moving to France he can live with us. Thank you. 10/10.

My mum moved in DMH for 1 week whilst we organised our relocation to France. She had a lovely week with all her needs cared for. She enjoyed the company and activities throughout the week and had a lovely bedroom with great views of the garden.

Exceptional Care home, my dad is so well looked after. He's happy and most of all he says I go to bed at night and feel safe. I go to bed at night knowing he is safe. I couldn't ask for anything more. From housekeeping support workers and management they all do an amazing job. Thank you to each and every one of you

My 94-year-old mother has been at Dunkirk for the past 12 months - she has been very happy there - the staff are first class - always happy, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The activity staff kept Mum busy and entertained. All the staff including the cleaners all knew Mum's name.

Our mother was a resident of The Mews for the final 4 years of her life. We could not have been happier with the level of loving care that she received over this period.
My daughter and I searched for over 2 years for the right care for her. We do not live local to Taunton but reasoned that the right Care Home was better than the most convenient Care Home. The moment we crossed the threshold of Dunkirk Memorial House we knew we had found the right place for her.
Over the years she was a resident we never doubted our choice. She and we, her family, were beautifully looked after.
Her final days were managed empathetically and calmly. We cannot thank you enough for making a difficult time for us all as easy as it could be.

Thankyou from us all for all that you do.

Mother lived here for approximately seven years. During that period her levels of care varied. Lastly end-of-life care needs changes took place at the home,. Improved systems meant more accountability of care delivered by competent staff. Very reassuring for family members who were made welcome without fail by cheerful staff. Continuity of care. Mium's end-of-life care involved a member of staff who welcomed her to the home on her arrival here. Professional at all times but caring and warm. Attention to detail. Thank you.

I recently visited Dunkirk Memorial House Care Centre, for the service of a close friend who had passed away, the staff were very caring and those I spoke with had a great sense of pride in the difficult, I would imagine, job that they do. The Centre looks amazing and the residents I met had big smiles. Thank you to all for the care and compassion you give.

My mother stayed at Dunkirk House, in the dementia wing (Dunkirk Mews), for over a year, until she sadly passed away recently. From the moment my sister and myself walked in the main building, to inspect the home on behalf of my mother before her stay, we were so impressed with everything. It is a beautiful building, in a beautiful location, with beautiful grounds. The staff in the dementia wing do a difficult job incredibly well. The residents are really well attended to, the food/catering is amazing, and they have many activities throughout the week to keep them entertained. My mother was really well cared for and attended to around the time of her passing. Only one word of caution, the residents are looked after so well that many of them live to be in their nineties, and at the time of writing I believe some are around the age of 100! If you are lucky enough to have the option of having a relative stay here then look no further. I cannot speak too highly of Dunkirk House.

From the start, we were impressed by, and delighted with the level of respect shown to our dad, as well as all the care and consideration afforded him by all the staff. Every effort was made to make him feel at home and to ensure that his needs and wants were met. They also looked after us as family members. He could not have been better cared for; you could not fault their professionalism and the kindness was exceptional.

My 97-year-old father became a resident a little over a month ago having lived with my wife and I for eighteen months after my mother passed away. He was very impressed when he came to look a the home a couple of weeks previously, but we were a little unsure of how he would adapt. We needn't have worried because it became obvious after the first couple of weeks that once had got over the problem of finding his way around the home he settled very well. He is really happy with the level of attention and support given by all members of staff, and his room is really good having brought quite a lot of his own furniture and pictures. He is impressed with the meals both with menu choices, and the quality of the food, and is slowly making the acquaintance of some of the other residents. I feel quite relieved that this latest change in his life has been achieved without any drama or concerns and would like to thank all the staff for their support during this transition

I am very happy here and having animals around is a real bonus for me, it is a happy place. My only problem is that it is difficult to see a doctor if required, as it is outside. However, that is not the fault of the home.

My mother spent the last days of her life at Dunkirk House, having only had a short time to organise it. There is a longer but all good story of how the staff were so helpful and wonderful, but my all too short summary would be that this is a family home of love, understanding and mutual connection. It was a joy to both my mother and myself that she was able to have had the final privilege of being in a place that she could so quickly call home. When she finally left, covered in a British charity cover, the staff 'turned out' to see her off. My thank you to them was pretty blubbing and sniffly, but also very heartfelt. I think I set a few of them off as well. It made her departure so much more bearable. Thank you.

I have been a resident at Dunkirk Memorial House since June 2021, during my time in this residence I have been treated with niceness and respect by all the staff and most of my fellow residents. As I am a loner by nature I'm able to please myself to a large degree what I choose to do i.e. Walk, Cycle on an indoor bike, read, and do crosswords at my leisure. So it suits me very well. One of your questions was is it value for money I can't possibly answer this as I've stayed in no other residence than here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else because the grounds are spectacular and I love to walk. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to my friends. The staff and management are always welcoming and encourage me and other residents to come to them with any concerns no matter how small it might be.

Since I have been here I have managed to get the title of champion motor world cyclist of the year but not only for this country but for worldwide. I'm very happy here.
