The Glen Care Home is a 52-bed nursing home , for those over 65, with a very homely atmosphere and plenty of personal attention.

The home offers nursing and residential care in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, where the physical and mental well-being of each resident will be catered for, providing a warm and welcoming environment with highly qualified nursing staff giving professional care at all times. The home also specialises in dementia care and is registered with the Care Quality Commission and is rated as ‘Good’ (February 2022).

The home is situated on the edge of the village of Evercreech in a large landscaped garden, close to the A371 road and within three miles from the regional centre of Shepton Mallet. There is a regular bus service to and from Shepton Mallet and Castle Cary which runs throughout the day.

My mum stayed for a couple of weeks respite after leaving hospital in January this year. From start to finish the care given was brilliant. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. Mum has additional nursing needs which were met and dealt with efficiently and with kindness and care. Nothing was
too much trouble. Should Mum need to access nursing care again in the future, we would not hesitate to go back to The Glen.

The staff at The Glen Care Home are always so friendly and accommodating, they interact well with the patients and their families. It is always clean and tidy and you can see that the patients are kept safe and very well cared for. Whilst I have been visiting my grandad-in-law I have seen many different

Both my parents have been cared for at The Glen, with Dad passing away in October.
I have always found the team to be positive, responsive and very caring. Under the new management, there's a can-do attitude and approach, and I've always felt we are a team in the way we've discussed and made decisions
about both parents' care and support.
I feel that nothing is ever too much trouble, and I always get a quick response to emails and calls.

The care and understanding my father has received since moving to The Glen has been outstanding.
All staff members work incredibly hard and have warmly welcomed him. They are an extremely friendly bunch and have not only supported him, but also myself in helping him to adapt to his new home and lifestyle.
The
communication is superb and the medical treatment by nurses and carers has been second to none. They have coped brilliantly with my father’s needs and often demanding behaviour. His comfort and welfare is always their main priority.
During a very difficult time for us as a family, I would like to thank all staff, from the cleaners, maintenance staff, carers, nurses, caterers, admin and management for their sense of humour and the warm reception we have received.

The residents are treated with respect and dignity within a warm, friendly and homely environment. A wide range of activities are available to keep people mobile and stimulated. Those who are unable to access the lounges or prefer to stay on their own are offered one-to-one interactions in their rooms.
Visitors are always made welcome and encouraged to participate in residents' care and activities. On arrival, the atmosphere is cheerful and welcoming.
Many of the bedrooms and bedroom furniture need modernising and updating but I realise that this is a continual maintenance need. The maintenance staff are exceptionally helpful and always busy maintaining a large, older building.

My husband was suffering from a terminal illness and he spent his last few months, before he very sadly died, as a resident at The Glen Care Home. He was treated at all times with respect and lots of loving care from his nurses and care workers. Nothing was too much trouble for them and that love and
support was also extended to myself and my family when we visited him on a daily basis. The staff are dedicated people and The Glen has a very homely atmosphere. I got to know some of the other residents whilst my husband was living there and they all seemed to be happy and contented.

Whenever I visit Mum, she always seems happy and well cared for. She has never minded complaining about things but rarely does about her time at The Glen Care Home. The staff are always helpful and there appears to be a really happy atmosphere there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Glen to anyone

A dear old friend of mine is a resident and I can only speak as I find The Glen which is, what a fabulous team they are. I visit on average 3 times per week and every time I go in, the carers are friendly, caring and always on hand to answer questions and offer advice. The food always smells good and

I am very happy that my mum has settled into her new life at The Glen. I found it very hard to have Mum placed in care. This would never have happened, had I been able to deal with her needs at home. All the staff at The Glen have been very helpful in the transition. Great service.

My wife, who died at The Glen on 13th August 2022, was a resident there for 8 years and throughout her time there, she was treated with the utmost care, kindness and dignity. The management and staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Glen

I find the staff to be very friendly and helpful, the residents needs always seem to be met very well, my mum gets looked after with dignity and a smile, nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent. Management is absolutely brilliant. I always feel very welcome and fully informed, most of the
staff are always happy to chat and tell me what’s going on. Haven’t come across anyone where you think “could do without you”. Grounds are fantastic and well kept. I do feel the rooms are showing their age with dated furniture and decor but that’s not too bad. I do feel the cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms could be better, that could just be down to staffing levels.

I can't thank all the team at The Glen enough for the end-of-life care they gave my Dad, and our family. The compassion and kindness shown was truly appreciated and it always felt as if nothing was too much trouble. They even let me stay in an empty room during Dad's last days. I will miss patting the
donkeys in the beautiful gardens, which gave great comfort during tough times. Thanks again.

My mother has been at The Glen Care Home for 7+ years. Her care has been exemplary. Originally she was able to wash and dress herself but now at 100 she has to be assisted. I cannot fault the staff in any way.

I am a highly experienced and motivated healthcare professional with a proven track record of providing excellent care and support. I started working at The Glen Care Home in 1999 as a care assistant and have worked my way up to a Home Manager through various roles within the home.


We have a fantastic team here at The Glen and for us, it's ensuring our residents are happy and cared for with the utmost respect and dignity they deserve. I use my knowledge of the local area to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and am always keen to involve the local community in life at The Glen.


There’s no better feeling than making a difference to a resident's life.

I am a dedicated and talented registered nurse with suitable qualifications, skills and a plethora of experience to be deputy manager for The Glen Care Home. During the 16 years at The Glen, with the last years as Head of Care, I have acquired far-reaching knowledge of care standards and health & safety legislation and have gained extensive experience in working with vulnerable adults and people with special needs including mental and physical disabilities.


I can effectively lead, train, supervise and motivate a team to deliver the utmost care and professionalism to all our residents and their families consistently. High standards of care are achieved through placement assessments and risk assessments for residents, formulating individual care plans and ensuring that these are met by the team.


We always prioritise our residents’ needs and will always, with our fabulous team, make sure that their time spent with The Glen is relaxing, peaceful and joyous.
