My mother was in the care home from August 2021 to January 2023 when sadly she died. The staff were incredibly kind and compassionate to the family, providing hot drinks and sandwiches and a big hug when needed. They definitely went above and beyond their duties and made such a difference to what was a very upsetting and traumatic experience. It's a great team at Avon Court. Huge thanks.

My dad has been at Avon Court since 2019; I've always been very happy with the standard of care and warm, welcoming environment within the home. I'm also impressed with their response to covid, implementing restrictions as and when necessary to keep residents safe, but striving to facilitate visits and communication when possible. Also, Christmas was brilliant - decorations absolutely everywhere made the whole place so festive and the Christmas party was excellent.

When Mum took a turn for the worse we were quickly called and when we arrived everyone was so amazing. Staff continued to care for Mum whilst family came and went. We were looked after and cared for to a measure I was humbled and inspired for. The genuine love and care each member of staff showed to Mum was exemplary. Being part of your community these last few days has been very precious and days I'll never forget. We know how much Mum loves your care and we are so happy to know she is with you all.

My father has been here for 2 weeks after a lengthy stay in hospital. What a fantastic home. Everyone, myself and family have been in. Contact has been cheerful, sympathetic and so kind. My father feels very happy here and safe and secure. All my conversations with the home manager have been so reassuring at an anxious time for the family. So well done everyone you all work extremely hard. A heartfelt thank you.

Thank you Avon Court for looking after my daughter so well. When she came out of hospital she wasn't eating and had lost weight (she was getting over sepsis). She is so happy there and has put on weight, the staff are wonderful to her and when I visit are lovely to me as well. She is hoping to go home soon. I have said I would like to go there when the time comes. I am 95 years old. Thank you Avon Court.

We had contact with a lot of the staff. We found them all, from cleaners, nurses to be kind, caring, and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. My cousin improved 100% with the care she received. I would be quite happy to be looked after in there.

My father is the only person I have had experience of with Alzheimer's and it's scary and devastating to see, but the care, compassion and love that all the staff give residents is above and beyond anything I could wish for. The level of care is outstanding, it's very reassuring to know that Dad's needs are covered 100%. I can't name specific staff as 'All Staff' are amazing and the cleanliness and comfort of Avon Court is again - outstanding. Many, many thanks to you all!

Excellent services so far. Nan's been here a couple of weeks. Nurses, carers and activity team, Nan's been joining in with everyone, and they have made her very welcome. Thank you, Nan losing independence was always hard, but they made this transition easier.

Clearly, with the advent of Covid and continuous lockdowns, it’s difficult to be totally objective. I should say my Mum is in a relatively safe environment although she did contract Covid earlier in April. There have been significant issues regarding Mum's meds at night, on a number of occasions the night nurses have not dispensed essential meds or were unclear where the medicines are located. Because of the lockdown, the staff undertook to follow up with the opticians regarding Mum's new glasses, I have had to chase this up with management, it’s been over six weeks - which really isn’t good enough. I should mention that one particular carer has been excellent and has truly made Mum's life bearable. I will follow up with a second review in a couple of months, new management is slowly organising things for the better. One thing that has changed is communication which is much better now.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the care at Avon Court, we really appreciate your feedback. We are pleased to note communication has improved with relatives; this is such an important aspect of our residents’ care. My Dad has been in Avon Court Care Home for 4 years, on Saturday my Dad passed away. The carers, managers, nurses, cleaners, and entertainment staff have all been so supportive and caring. I spent the last two weeks by my Dad's side and I was also very looked after. Nothing was too much trouble. I would like to thank everyone so much. I think the staff need more praise for the excellent job they do.

Review from C J (Friend of Resident) published on 14 January 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My friend was moved here from hospital and was taken straight to a room at the back of the home. He was sometimes left in dirty clothes which I helped change him on more than one occasion. The room was dirty and clothes went missing that I had to ask for. He was often left in bed until after midday with only a quick wash, never had a bath or teeth cleaned daily and his call button had no battery cover on the back and there was only one staff member that stood out from the rest. He was never told as to what was actually going to happen and he passed away there, which was very unfortunate. Also next of kin was not notified when he needed anything, communication was poor.

Mum is a new resident with the home for assessment, her first time in a home, also a new experience for the family. The staff were great settling in a very confused and frightened 96-year-old lady who up until now was very mobile and self-sufficient. The home were very helpful and understanding with me and the family. Mum is also very happy with the staff and although doesn't want to stay is very settled and understands why she is there.

Mum came to Avon Court from hospital. Each team member has been exceptionally kind, helpful, polite, friendly, and caring - not just towards Mum but also with myself, my husband, and my daughter. The care is genuine, sensitive, and empathetic. The food has been excellent too. The cleanliness, security, and covid-19 measures have been first-class. Thank you.

Mum's stay in Avon Court from May 2021 to Sept when she passed away. Mum felt safe and happy. The staff are fantastic and helpful. They are so busy but always have time for residents whilst under extreme pressure. Hated my Mum going into care but Mum was happy which made me, brother, and sister very content. Thank you.
