My Dad has been in Avon Court Care Home for 4 years, on Saturday my Dad passed away. The carers, managers, nurses, cleaners, and entertainment staff have all been so supportive and caring. I spent the last two weeks by my Dad's side and I was also very looked after. Nothing was too much trouble. I would
like to thank everyone so much. I think the staff need more praise for the excellent job they do.

My friend was moved here from hospital and was taken straight to a room at the back of the home. He was sometimes left in dirty clothes which I helped change him on more than one occasion. The room was dirty and clothes went missing that I had to ask for. He was often left in bed until after midday
with only a quick wash, never had a bath or teeth cleaned daily and his call button had no battery cover on the back and there was only one staff member that stood out from the rest. He was never told as to what was actually going to happen and he passed away there, which was very unfortunate. Also next of kin was not notified when he needed anything, communication was poor.

Mum is a new resident with the home for assessment, her first time in a home, also a new experience for the family. The staff were great settling in a very confused and frightened 96-year-old lady who up until now was very mobile and self-sufficient. The home were very helpful and understanding with
me and the family. Mum is also very happy with the staff and although doesn't want to stay is very settled and understands why she is there.

My mum was admitted into Avon Court in June and she is very settled and enjoys being here very much. The staff are always so kind and helpful and very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They have excellent entertainment and activities. It's nice to see my mum happy when we visit.

Mum came to Avon Court from hospital. Each team member has been exceptionally kind, helpful, polite, friendly, and caring - not just towards Mum but also with myself, my husband, and my daughter. The care is genuine, sensitive, and empathetic. The food has been excellent too. The cleanliness, security,

Mum's stay in Avon Court from May 2021 to Sept when she passed away. Mum felt safe and happy. The staff are fantastic and helpful. They are so busy but always have time for residents whilst under extreme pressure. Hated my Mum going into care but Mum was happy which made me, brother, and sister very

My mother was sent here from the hospital after an operation to repair a fracture to her leg as she required intensive physio and rehabilitation and we were assured she would receive the best care. On arrival she was taken to a tiny room at the back of the hospital, the bed wasn't a hospital bed so
could not accommodate her injury and with no side gates. When my mum said she couldn't manage this bed as she would fall out she was told that's OK as they put a mat down if she fell, just what she needs with a fractured leg! The toilet seat was broken and not high for her disability. She was treated as a dementia patient which is what the home seems to be for. A few of the staff had no idea how to care for orthopaedic patients and the home is certainly not equipped for rehabilitation. I collected her from there immediately.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write a Carehome Review for us and we take all feedback very seriously. Please be assured that all of the ICT beds in the Home are profiling beds (hospital beds) and bed rails can be used on these beds. We would always explore the least restrictive option for our Residents as bed rails can be very dangerous, and apologies we did not explain this clearly to your Mother. We have an excellent service for rehabilitation post Hospital stay, supported by our occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleagues. We are very sorry that the toilet seat was broken, we replaced this immediately and have taken action to ensure this doesn’t happen again for a new Resident. Please accept our apology.

My mother has recently passed away at Avon Court. She had been there for 3 1/2 years and had dementia. It was a difficult time, especially the last 12 months with the coronavirus. During this time it was made more bearable knowing how much the staff cared for her. The two activity ladies particularly
were brilliant with mum and we cannot thank them enough. Thet made a huge difference to Mum and to us. The two activity ladies also came to the funeral which was appreciated.

Avon Court is a lovely home. It is caring, the staff are helpful and have a heart for the residents, provide great activities for residents to be part of eg monthly theme. Mother enjoys it here and says the food is good. Everything seems to be well organised although communication with family could

Avon Court have been amazing during the lockdown nothing is too much trouble. Visits have been arranged safely and anything my mother needs someone always obliges. I couldn't speak more highly of the staff at Avon Court. Well done keep it up.

I am so grateful to all the wonderful staff at Avon Court who have been caring for my dad over the last 6 weeks. They have treated him with such kindness and have taken such good care of him. They go out of their way to make sure that he is as happy as he can be. It's wonderful to see the entertainment
provided each day and to see photos of dad smiling. I appreciate that everyone always has time to talk on the phone to keep me updated on his progress. We are very happy with the care provided each day at Avon Court.

My mother was admitted into Avon Court in March to the end of care section. The staff are very caring and friendly. Mother has enjoyed being looked after and the breakfasts. I have been one of the lucky ones and I am allowed to visit taking temperature, filling in forms and wearing protective gear.

Excellent care given to my father and also great care has been taken with the recent COVID situation. The care home has just reopened for visitors and strict hygiene levels are in place, 20 minutes visiting at a time is in place.

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Mitchelo has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Choosing to work in the care sector because she has a passion for people and knowing each as an individual, Mitchelo closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Mitchelo remarked: “Going home with a smile on my face, knowing I have achieved my goals to provide quality-centred care for my Residents.”


Mitchelo has also achieved much outside of work and enjoys spending time with her family. Her proudest achievement is being a mother and still managing to enjoy her work.
