Our neighbour has recently had to go into care, suffering with dementia. Like so many people going through this terrible disease, he is being cared for at a local care home, New Day Nursing Home. The staff there are excellent and they held a special event to introduce the new manager. There was a raffle and I won first prize - a chocolate hamper. I re-raffled the hamper to raise money for the home and they were so grateful. We couldn’t ask for better staff to look after him, from all of his family and friends, we all want to say a massive thank you.

My mother has been at New Day Nursing Home for almost 2 years and during this time the staff have treated her with compassion and kindness. They listen and respond attentively to her and as a family member they have always been very friendly and welcoming. The staff keep you informed and encourage family in their activity days/celebrations - I couldn't be happier with how mom is treated and would highly recommend this home. Thank you so much to all the staff at New Day - you're fantastic!

Myself and family are so thankful that our mom is in this care home. The care is excellent, she is looked after really well. The management and staff are so warm, caring and welcoming, always having time to ask you if all is ok, do we want a tea or coffee, and how we are. We are so content and happy in ourselves, we could not ask for a more caring and understanding team.

God bless you all.

Review from Stuart R (Husband of Resident) published on 9 January 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My wife took up residence at New Day in October following a long spell at home with me as her carer, two long stays in two different hospitals, falls, broken bones, serious infections and significantly, advanced dementia all of which had left her immobile, physically unstable and very withdrawn - she seemed to be very frightened.
New Day is an old Victorian building, which I remember from my youth as a Maternity Home, and it lacks the smoked glass, stainless steel and polished oak facade of the modern-day version, however, what matters - the standard of TLC, kindness, respect, dignity and professional nursing - is of a standard that most care home residents can only dream about.
Within a few weeks, my immobile, physically unstable and withdrawn wife was interacting with staff and other residents, laughing, dancing and singing and obviously enjoying the community spirit of the place.

What a joy to see her like that - thank you New Day for all that you do - Marvellous!

Reply from Ruth Malesa, REGISTERED HOME MANAGER at New Day Nursing Home

Thank you Stuart for your lovely comments about New Day, it is so heart-warming to know that we are making a difference to the lives of the residents we care for. Family are also so important too! I am so happy that you have peace of mind as her husband because we care about you too! Thank you so much again! Alison Mold, Care Home Manager.

Staff at New Day are always willing to help us and always treat residents with respect and dignity. Always update us with all information regarding our brother, especially due to Covid. Alwats welcoming when we go to see him, they always ask if we have any questions and always answer honestly, and if necessary, will take us into private rooms.

From mum's first day at New Day Nursing Home to today the 1st March 2022, mum has received top care from all the staff. The overall standard is excellent. Mum has always been treated with dignity by both staff and management. I am informed of every detail of mum's care when I am at home and updated every week. I really do believe that I could not have placed mum in a better environment, it is so comforting to know that mum is receiving the very best care every day. Thank you.

The staff are all very professional and very supportive of my father as well as my mother. They care for all of my mother's care needs making sure she feels happy and safe at all times. The home is excellent at accommodating visits for our family and keep us informed about our mom. We have had a very difficult year but all the staff are friendly and go out of their way to support us all. My mother now enjoys our visits which the staff help to make as normal as possible. We all feel supported and would like to thank all the staff for the excellent care they continue to give our mother.

This home is the most wonderful home I have been to, having visited a number of them. It is truly a home from home. The staff are wonderful, caring, loving, patient, cheerful, funny, delightful people. The activities coordinator worked so hard and gets Mum off her feet all the time. She is literally moving all day long.
The building is not glamorous. It is an old victorian building; this is important.
My brother has never lived in a "posh" place. He lived in a small bungalow for 60-years. New Day is a home, warm, welcoming, clean, organised but friendly. I could feel the warm atmosphere from outside - and laughter! And music a buzz.

Staff work hard, they're always smiling. I could not have wanted a better place for my brother. The home was recommended by his social worker. He said, "it's not glamorous, but the care is wonderful". I have been to several other homes - lovely, were facility, efficient but no atmosphere, cold. If that's what people are used to fine, but the building and the ethos need to be appropriate and the staff chose to be empathetic and willing to do anything. I would live at New Day myself. I can't recommend it highly enough.

My husband went into this wonderful nursing home at the beginning of the first Covid lockdown. Although I wasn't allowed to visit him, the staff made every effort to keep me informed with telephone and video calls. I cannot fault the care and love and respect that my husband is receiving, in spite of the restrictions that had to be put in place due to Covid-19. He is in good hands.

There are no words to describe how grateful our family are to all the staff here for their outstanding care and compassion they showed to our family. They took care of my mother-in-law impeccably. Showing dignity at all times. They made her feel safe and secure. We never had any worries about leaving her there. They kept us up to date regularly during lockdown. They treated her like family. We are eternally grateful. Thank you to each and every one of you.

NURSING AND SOCIAL CARE: The staff at Newday are all amazing - skilled, caring and understanding - all of them. I include cleaners, cooks, maintenance staff, etc. They are wonderfully led by a terrific management team. We (visitors, residents and staff) are one big, loving family. There seems to be no request too difficult for the staff to accommodate.
It was a relief to find Newday as my husband had suffered (yes, suffered!) previously in two awful homes over a total of 18 months and I suspect they contributed to further decline in his condition. He has excellent behaviour despite his dementia and immobility. He has been in Newday since January 2019 and suffered not one bedsore or infection from careless hygiene, negligence, etc. Any emerging medical complications are discovered promptly and appropriately treated.

Other homes may be more 'glamorous' but it is the care that counts and I am forever grateful and humbled by your wonderful care. THANK YOU ALL at Newday.

My mother has severe Alzheimer’s/dementia and receives excellent care at Newday. The carers, nurses and support staff are compassionate, committed and professional and the home is clean, bright and welcoming. The staff are also very supportive of our family, as illustrated during the challenging time of COVID-19 when we have not been able to visit my mother. They have provided regular updates and the opportunity to see her via video calls, which is a huge help.
