When we found out dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour and couldn't looked after himself no more, we was so so nervous and scared on where to choose for him. I can't even put into words how amazing Marian house have been. All the staff are so reassuring and really cared for my dad. Nothing was too much and it was so nice knowing he was being well looked after and my dad felt safe until the very end. It is going to be so strange not visiting anymore as we felt like a big family. Thankyou so so much to everyone at Marian House you are all so amazing!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a heartfelt review. We are truly honoured that you chose Marian House to care for your Dad during such a difficult time for your family.

The nursing care, compassion and all general care extended to my mum by all staff within this nursing home has been excellent as well as many stimulating activities provided by the activities team including darts, bingo, visits from external singers, entertainers, dog therapy, hairdressing, chiropody etc all of which mum thoroughly benefits from. My brother and I can rest assured that mum is in very good hands and very well cared for.
We are delighted to hear that your Mum is enjoying her time with us and that you have been pleased with the nursing care, compassion, and support provided by our team. It is wonderful to know that the activities programme, including darts,...
My mum was only a resident for 3 months before she passed away. She suffered with Alzheimer's, but when she arrived at Marian House within a few days, her demeanor and spirits really lifted. She was welcomed by the staff, and as a family, we really felt that Mum was loved by them all. The care they showed her was incredible, and she settled in so well and joined in with all the activities, which were daily. It may have been a short stay, but Mum's last couple of months were happy, and that was down to Marian House. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words Deborah. We are deeply touched that Marian House could provide comfort, happiness, and support to your mum during her time with us. It means a great deal to hear that she settled in so well, enjoyed the activities, and felt welcomed and cared for by our...
Marian House is an absolute blessing. My mum has improved with being here and is so much happier. The staff are absolutely amazing could not ask for anything more. Always smiling, so helpful and a great bunch of people that do an outstanding job. Lucky to have them all.

Our team really does care for everyone like family, so knowing our smiles make a difference means the world to us. We're so grateful you chose us to look after her and that you're all part of the community here
Excellent care not only to mum but to all relatives who came to visit. Felt like a second home to us too. Thank you.,
We're so pleased to hear that not only your Mum, but your whole family, felt welcomed and cared for. Creating a warm, homely environment where everyone feels comfortable and supported is so important to us, and it's wonderful to know that this came through during your visits.

My aunt had been through an extremely difficult time and was struggling both physically, mentally and emotionally.
Everyone from the carers, nurses and office staff recognised this and treated her with the utmost respect and dignity.
The home manager and office staff were always available to offer advice and support to me as I was trying to navigate the various paperwork and forms, or just to lend a sympathetic ear - for this I am sincerely grateful.
It really does feel homely, and family members who visited commented on this too.
If you are having to look for a place for your loved one, I would sincerely recommend Marian House for the staff and family atmosphere.
Thank you so much Sarah, for sharing such a heartfelt and thoughtful review. We are truly grateful for your kind words and for the trust you placed in Marian House during what we understand was an extremely challenging time for both your Great Aunt and yourself. It means a great deal to know that...
We cannot speak highly enough the home. After our uncle had spent over ten years in another home, we became increasingly concerned about the level of care he was receiving. Making the decision to move him was incredibly difficult, especially knowing how disruptive such a change can be, but it has proven to be one of the best decisions we have ever made.
From the moment he arrived, the difference was clear. Thanks to the kindness, patience, and professionalism of the staff, he settled remarkably quickly. He is now up and about every day, happy, engaged, and genuinely enjoying everything the home has to offer. Seeing such a positive change in his wellbeing has been incredibly reassuring for our whole family.
The standard of care is night and day compared to his previous home. The staff clearly know their residents as individuals and treat them with dignity, warmth, and respect. We only wish we had made the move sooner.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It warms our hearts to hear how well your Uncle has settled in and how much he's enjoying life here. We're thrilled that our team's kindness, patience, and care have made such a positive difference-seeing our residents happy, engaged, and comfortable...

Marian House is a fantastic home with the emphasis on the word home. Our Dad was very lucky to have spent his last months there. He was given six weeks to live but lived for six months this was due to the outstanding care he received. Our Dad was treated with upmost respect and kindness by every single member of staff. Nothing was too much trouble, an extra blanket, an extra pillow and our Dad's favourite an extra cup of tea. All of this care was delivered with warmth, kindness and humour. From entering this home to leaving it you are greeted with cheer and warmth. As a family this care, kindness and respect was extended to us especially when we needed it most. Five stars isn't adequate I wish I could give many more. I can't recommend Marian House highly enough.

My friend, has her hair cut and blow dryed and she was smiling when the hairdresser showed her the finished look. Lovely to have a lovely lady doing the hair and she was very compassionate to my friend.

My dad arrived in October 2023, at 58 he was a younger resident but had a terminal illness and was unable to care for himself. He went there, not by choice, however, he learned to love and enjoy his time there, and I know he kept the staff on their toes! The staff were wonderful and because of their dedication and support in caring and looking after him, we were blessed with nearly another year with him. All of the staff were kind and attentive, if you are thinking about allowing your loved one to be cared for by the team at Marion House then know that everyone there will do their utmost to treat your loved one with dignity and care.
We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to write such a beautiful review. Our dedicated team are committed to giving our residents the finest care possible during these trying times so that they can feel comfortable and that their families are supported. We are always here for you if you need a coffee and chat.
It was hard making the decision to put Mum into nursing care after we lost our Dad. Mum had a fall and was unable to walk. Leaving Mum at home with carers was not an option as Mum has always had people around here. It took a while for Mum to settle in and she has her moments but the care she gets from Marian House is fantastic and I know she is happy with our choice.
Thank you so very much for taking the time to send us a review. It was our pleasure looking after your mom. I would also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you for your cooperation and support during her stay at Marian House.

Meet the Team (14)

I have been a Registered General Nurse for over 20 years. I have a BSc Hons in Health Studies, NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management and Mentorship in Nursing Practice. I have also completed Lead to Succeed and Rise programme with My Home Life England. I worked in the NHS in various settings for 10 years and then started work in the Care Sector in 2012.
At Marian House, we have a wonderful team, and I am a firm believer that when you have a happy staff team, the positivity spreads to everyone.
We receive lots of positive feedback about how caring and friendly the staff are, and that the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We focus on getting to know your loved ones to ensure we deliver person-centred care with family and friends’ involvement.
It is so lovely to hear the laughter in the corridors when staff and the people that we support are interacting with one another. There is a strong ethos here to treat people how you would like to be treated yourself, encouraging independence, individual choice and preferences.
We are always here to help with any questions or queries you may have. We look forward to welcoming you to our home

I qualified following a degree course in Learning Disability Nursing in 2016, and I joined Marian House in 2021 as a Nurse. I progressed into the Clinical Lead Role in 2023, Deputy Manager role in 2026.
I am very passionate about ensuring the people that we support receive person-centred care and love being able to make a difference in our residents' lives, spending time listening and talking to them.
I am always looking to improve standards and the experience for those that we care for.

I have a great relationship with all of our residents and their family members.
I might be the first person you meet at the door or the first person to take your call if enquiring. I will always try my best to help you, wherever I can.

Louise has recently joined the team here at Marian House and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Louise loves cooking for others and seeing the enjoyment that eating tasty and nutritious food brings. Louise leads the Kitchen team by example by keeping high standards.

Michelle leads the domestic team, maintaining high standards whilst trying to make it home from home. Michelle loves to interact with those that we care for, getting to know them and their preferences.

I joined this great team in April 2021 as a care assistant, progressing to Senior Carer later that year. I took the role of Lead Activity Coordination in March 2024 after helping out with activities and finding that I loved the job and wanted to do it permanently.
Before joining Marian House, I worked as a Care Coordinator for a domiciliary care company as well as a dispenser in a pharmacy. I worked at both for several years before deciding to move over to nursing care.
I have found a passion for End-of-life care as well as Dignity in care. I have done a lot of training on these subjects which aids me in providing this care for the residents here at Marian House. I have just qualified in my NVQ Level 4 in Lead Adult Care, which I am very proud of. I love my job and thoroughly enjoy bringing joy and smiles to the resident's faces and lives, as well as coming up with new ideas and finding entertainment groups for the home.
Outside of work, my husband and I and our dog spend a lot of time outside, whether it be in the garden, gardening and looking after our pond, or going out for walks around our local Park. I enjoy playing the guitar, and my dad and I have regular jamming sessions, to our neighbour's dismay.

Lorraine qualified as an adult nurse in 2013 and began her career caring for older adults within acute medical settings. She spent seven years working on frontline wards, where she developed a strong passion for delivering compassionate, person-centred care and supporting patients and their families through challenging times. Lorraine found this work incredibly rewarding and valued the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every day.
In 2020, Lorraine left the NHS to pursue a new challenge as a Clinical Lead Nurse within the private sector, later progressing into a management position. While she enjoyed developing her leadership and organisational skills, she realised how much she missed direct patient care and the relationships built through hands-on nursing.
Lorraine loves working at Marian House because of its warm, family atmosphere and the genuine dedication shown by the team towards residents’ well-being. Lorraine is passionate about creating a safe, happy, and supportive environment where residents feel respected, valued, and truly at home. She particularly enjoys building close relationships with residents and their families and feels proud to be part of a team that delivers high standards of care with kindness, dignity, and compassion.

Rose is a compassionate and dedicated nurse with a special interest in palliative and end-of-life care. She is committed to ensuring the people we support are cared for with dignity and respect, while also supporting families through some of their most difficult moments.
She holds regular support groups for relatives, creating a safe space for loved ones to share experiences, ask questions, and feel less alone. In addition, she facilitates support sessions for staff, recognising the emotional impact of caring for residents at the end of life and promoting wellbeing within the team.
Through her empathy, leadership, and unwavering commitment, Rose truly makes a meaningful difference to residents, families, and colleagues alike.

Tash recently won the Community Champion Award for giving her time, skills, and energy to support Marian House and its community

Arvjola has a special interest in Nutrition, hydration and also manual handling. She is currently studying NVQ level 4 in Management and Leadership to develop her skills even further.
Arvjola was recently a winner of the Innovation and Initiative Award for introducing new ideas or improving ways of working at Marian House.

Emmanuel is a favourite amongst the team and also among the people we support. His quiet and reassuring manner brings comfort to those who need it. He shows dedication and commitment every day and ensures that everyone is safe and happy.

Jay has worked in care for nearly 30 years and loves to support not only the people we care for but also reach out to their families, especially during the transition when moving into a care setting from home. He is there to offer reassurance, a listening ear and advocate on behalf of those who may not feel they have a voice.
Jay was recently presented with the Residents' Choice award for making a meaningful difference to their lives.

Bless has been at Marian House since 2022 and has a special interest in infection control. Bless recently won the Team Player of the Year award for outstanding collaboration and support of colleagues.
