The management team were very helpful and accommodating when our mum moved in two days before Christmas 2021. The staff showed care and compassion and understanding despite our mum's complex care needs. Their communication with the family was exceptional and they made sure to share both the highs and
lows with us. They always showed compassion and humour, and both were vital.

The care and support provided by the many staff at the home is excellent. My father has vascular dementia but is still fairly mobile for a 90-year-old and he really enjoys helping in the garden. He has a large room with a lovely view where he can watch the birds and the squirrels. He really enjoys his
meals and loves talking to the staff. The staff at the home keep me updated and are always willing to discuss my father's care with me. My father was placed in the home following a hospital stay so I feel very fortunate (lucky!) that he was placed in Evedale and I was more than happy to make that his permanent residence as I know he will get the 24 care and support that he will require as his condition progresses. I would not hesitate in recommending Evedale Care Home to others who require support and care.

From the first day Mum went to Evedale Care Home the staff have treated Mum with respect and kindness especially at times she becomes distressed. The leadership is excellent and nursing staff have a highly level of experience and this has been crucial when dealing with Mums complex needs. We are very
happy and cannot recommend Evedale Care Home enough.

From the day we met the manager before my Brother arrived to the unfortunate day he passed away, I have nothing but praise for the whole team.

They were ALL, friendly, professional, and caring toward my brother and us at all times. Even when he could be quite demanding, they kept their calm and made

him as comfortable as possible.

In his last few days, he knew he was in a safe place and was very appreciative of the care they gave him.

Thank you very much.

Moved Mum into Evedale just before Christmas 2021from a temporary placement elsewhere. We've had no concerns about Mum's care and neither has she expressed any. Communication from staff to family is excellent and visiting very easy to arrange.

On behalf of myself and the family, we can not praise enough the love, care and dignity given to my Dad in the last 10-days of his life at Evedale Care Home after he was taken in as a dementia patient. A lovely, and comfy room. As Dad couldn’t pass at home, this care home was the next best thing. Living
overseas I knew that my Mum was also looked after whilst visiting. If Dad had not passed, we would have definitely kept him there. Again, thank you to you all for your amazing compassion, kindness and care, we cannot thank you enough.

All of the carers are truly dedicated professionals and are so kind and loving to my mother. They genuinely care about her wellbeing. The nurses are the same, nothing is too much trouble and they have time to explain all of my questions and any concerns I may have. My mum is very settled now and feels
at home at Evedale now. She enjoys the array of activities that they provide for all the residents.

My mum has been in Evedale for four months. She is very happy and settled. The staff treat us all with respect. They care for Mum like their own grandparent. There was a sense of a good team spirit from day one. Staff are courteous and show empathy to Mum and her needs. There is laughter and a positive
spirit from the team. It has made a very anxious time much easier to cope with. Mum is well cared for, and everyone has a good understanding of dementia. Can't thank everyone enough.

My dad was only at Evedale for a short time until he sadly passed away. I can't thank the staff enough as it was difficult to get to see dad due to location but I was always assured I could ring any time. The staff were amazing. Even when we got to see dad before he passed, the care the staff showed
to us during that time was second to none. I would definitely recommend it to other people.

The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. From the first day, I felt I knew members of the staff and was known by them. This not only applies to the hands-on care, but the manager and administration team. The multiple lounges are really helpful to allow different interactions.

I have had a great deal of experience with other care facilities over many years and Evedale is outstanding amongst them. The cleanliness of the premises, no unpleasant odours, the wonderful care of all residents despite many having challenging behaviour and the support offered to family members is
outstanding. Myself and family wish to thank all the staff for the care my sister has received over the past four years as a resident at Evedale. We wish in particular, to thank Manager and Home Administrator for their hard work in supporting all staff despite the difficulties encountered during the pandemic as they continue to raise morale and maintain a happy, friendly atmosphere. We cannot express enough our appreciation of the rare skills, professionalism and extremely efficient staff employed at Evedale. If your organisation offers an outstanding award for exceptional performance we wish to nominate Evedale for such an award.

My mum is currently in Evedale. I live abroad and I have just come back from a visit to see my mum for the first time in this nursing home which she was moved to from hospital. I was instantly impressed, it’s a lovely home with a great relaxed atmosphere. What makes it so great is the staff, they are
all very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much bother. As a visitor, I was made to feel welcome by everyone and seeing my mum there, her wellbeing and health is the best she’s been in a long time. I have just flown back abroad until my next visit shortly, but I can now relax knowing my mum is staying there and in good hands.

My mum has been at Evedale a week and a half now and she has come on in leaps and bounds. She is walking, which the hospital said she never would. This is all due to the staff here, nothing is too much trouble for them, they do truly care.

My mother was in Evedale for Palliative end of life care with cancer. She arrived in mid April and the expectation was that she would not live more than 2 weeks, however, she lived another 6 weeks from moving to this accommodation.

The accommodation is clean and well presented and I wanted a bird

feeder outside my mother's window which was quickly completed by the team which I appreciated.

I would not recommend this place for palliative care, as I don't feel it offered what a hospice would. The establishment is a big home, with such small staff for such large numbers of clients. Staff were rotated or there were agency staff on so I don't feel that they were able to get to know my mum and provide more personal care that she required. Some of the staff were lovely, as were the nurses, but it was a lottery to who you got.

The establishment, although set up and advertises palliative care, I feel did not have the expertise to deal with end of life cancer.

Reply from Ronnie Cavanagh, Marketing at Evedale Care HomeThank you Michelle for your kind comments about our care team. We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback for Evedale Care Home. We understand how upsetting it must have been, and are so pleased you felt that our team lived up to expectation and treated your mother with dignity and the compassion she deserved during her time at our home. We hope that her time at Evedale did see some friendships flourish with both the care team and residents. Thank you again Michelle, if there is anything more we can do please do not hesitate to reach out.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.446)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.446) out of 10 for Evedale Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.571 for Evedale Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 189 Ratings = 4.571
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Evedale Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
