Can't praise this care home enough. Caring staff, kitchen staff catered to my dads gluten free dietary needs, cooking special food he requested. All staff and nurses so very special. Would recommend this care home to everyone. The actual home is spotlessly clean and decorated like a hotel, so residents
feel special in their final years/months.

My mum passed away recently with care and dignity surrounded by her family/ friends and given the top quality care and support from all staff at Townthorns.
My mum has lived at Townthorns for nearly 4 years. She had dementia and falls .
All her time there she received top quality care and support.
The
food was excellent and if they asked for anything special they did their best to cater for there individual needs.
They had a wonderful therapy and well being group 7 days a week which enabled them to keep active and social.
The communication with families was top class always keeping us in the loop.
In her final days we where all looked after and mums wishes followed perfectly.
I have nothing but respect and positive comments for all staff and the home it's self.
Thank you Townthorns for everything you did for mum and us.
Reply from Joanne Brine, Registered Manager at Town Thorns Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review and for your kind words about our team.
We are deeply sorry for the loss of your mum and are honoured that Town Thorns was able to support her and your family throughout her journey with us. It means so much to hear that she received the care, dignity, and compassion she deserved during her time at our home.
Your comments about our staff, wellbeing activities, food, communication, and the support provided during your mum's final days will be shared with the entire team. Knowing that we were able to make a positive difference to both your mum and your family is the greatest compliment we could receive.

We have recently had two family celebrations. The first was my mum's birthday, and today we brought the wedding of my niece to Anville Court. On both occasions, the staff have gone over and beyond our expectations and provided us with two fantastic events.
We feel the care, compassion and friendliness
of all the staff is worth 10/10. Anville Court always makes you feel welcome, and we feel our dear mum is well cared for.

My mum was admitted to hospital. When she was discharged she returned to Town Thorns in a far worse condition than when she left. The Town Thorns carers and medical staff were required to nurse mum until she passed away. The care that she received during this time was excellent. I can't thank the staff
enough and praise them highly.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My brother had been a resident for almost two years, in that time he was well looked after.
But since new management had taken over, that care rocketed. How I know this is I've visited my brother three times a week for the two years. So I definitely think I'm a good judge at knowing how much things had
changed for the better.
Sadly this month my brother was end of life, but that care & compassion was second to none. They not only took care of my brother, they looked after me, being there sometimes for up to 10hrs that care never changed. My brother sadly passed away an hour after I left him this week, but that care didn't stop there I was picked up from home so I could see him one last time. Now that's dedication.
So I want to say a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart to Management.Nursing Staff.Carers Activities.
Receptionists Administrator .Domestics. Kitchen Staff & anyone I may have missed out, a massive heartfelt thank you for looking after my brother so well.
Reply from Trish McCaffrey, Home Manager at Chesford Grange Care HomeThank you so very much for your review. We know how difficult the last few weeks have been for you and yet you have still taken the time to let us know about your experience here at Chesford Grange. Your Brother was such a lovely man and he won the hearts of so many of the staff. It was a pleasure to care for him and a privilege to to be part of his final farewell. In addition to visiting your Brother, who you went above and beyond for, you have become a source of kindness, generosity, support and friendship for so many. I personally want to thank you for giving up your time so freely to become an integral part of our community. You have been a huge support for me and the Deputy Manager and have helped us immensely to achieve our goal to turn Chesford around to create a safe, supportive, caring and homely space for everyone to enjoy. As our journey continues, we know that you will remain by our side to encourage and support us and for that we are truly grateful.

I cannot thank everyone at Evedale enough for the excellent care and compassion shown to my husband in his last weeks. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and all staff, from nursing, admin, the kitchen, and maintenance were always welcoming and helpful on my daily visits. To show such dedication and

My father had to take up residence at very late notice after a period in a home that had been traumatic. Every single member of staff here: management; nursing, carer, cleaner, catering, have been warm, welcoming and patient. My father has now been here 4 months and is so much more settled and happier
in spirits. He loves the food and the activities. I cannot praise Town Thorns enough!
Reply from Joanne Brine, Head of Clinical Care at Town Thorns Care HomeThank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your fathers experience with us. Our entire team works hard to create a warm and caring environment, and your comments about the staff, food, and activities will be truly appreciated by everyone. We are delighted to hear that your father is now more settled, happier in himself, and enjoying life with us.

My mum has only recently gone into the home but I can honestly say, after looking at 2 other care homes, Chesford Grange in my opinion outshines them on so many levels.
There are lots of staff around, in many different roles all making sure the residents needs are met and they are as comfortable as
possible.
There are activities staff who are so bubbly and creative with their ideas for entertaining the residents.
The nurses have let me know how she's settling in and how to deal with some of the challenging behaviour she has.
The manager reassured me that they can deal with her condition, they've seen it before and have no doubt she'll settle in. That was massive load off my mind.
Housekeeping and reception have also been so welcoming and helpful.
I genuinely feel so lucky we got the chance to have a place at Chesford Grange for my mum.
Reply from Trish McCaffrey, Home Manager at Chesford Grange Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and encouraging feedback. We always want to do the best for everyone living at Chesford Grange and your mum is no exception. Despite her own challenges, she can be so caring and protective of others. It is clear to see that you are a close family and we like to think that we have become part of your extended family. Many of the staff have formed a bond with your mum and enjoy spending time with her. The staff feedback to me that you are a very approachable family and this enables us to work together for the benefit of your mum. John was admitted to Weston Park Care Home on 27th March 2026. At that time, I was suffering from severe stress. I was greeted by Sabina, a sensible, knowledgeable lady who was extremely kind and compassionate. We were introduced to some of the carers who all had a friendly smile and were helpful. I
also spoke to John, the manager, who put my mind at rest. The nurses in charge have constantly been communicative and kind when I phoned to enquire about my husband. I cannot comment on the food/facilities/activities as I have not experienced them. I am very happy with the care my husband receives, I feel he is safe and very well looked after.

Having looked at other nursing homes for suitability for my mother's care, Hillcrest Manor stood out as clean, friendly and well run. I decided, after a visit to look at the facilities offered, to move my mother to Hillcrest Manor. The staff have always been extremely friendly but professional. Any
queries were dealt with immediately. My daughter works in the NHS and visits nursing/care homes as part of her work as a nurse. She visited with me, and her comments were that she has never been in a cleaner nursing/care home. She was impressed. Well done! The activities for the residents are wonderful too.

I will happily share your comments with our Housekeeping Team who do work extremely hard to ensure high standards of cleanliness throughout the home. As someone who works for social services I did my research on Evedale and went and visited them as well. The care and support everyone gave my mum was excellent. Everyone went above and beyond the care and love they showed to her and us as a family, especially my dad. I was asked to write up everything
about mum. her likes, dislikes, etc. and every part of this was followed. When mum passed, I was told everyone came out and waved her goodbye. I can't express in words how fabulous Evedale is.
Reply from Carolyn Peacock, Home Manager at Evedale Care HomeThank you so much for your incredibly kind and heartfelt words. It means a great deal to the whole team that you took the time to share your experience with us.

We know how important it is to find the right care and support for a loved one, and we are truly honoured that you entrusted us with your mum's care. It was a privilege to get to know her, and we are so pleased that the personal details you shared about her likes, dislikes, and routines helped us provide care that felt meaningful and individual to her.

Your special mention of the support shown to your dad and family is deeply appreciated. We always aim to care not only for our residents, but also for the people closest to them during what can be such an emotional time.

The goodbye your mum received reflects just how loved and valued she was by everyone at Evedale. Your words will mean so much to our team, who work every day to provide compassionate, dignified care.

Haresbrook Park Care Home

from Sarah C (Wife of Resident) published on 13 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
My husband was at Haresbrook Park for less than four weeks and initially all seemed well, most of the staff were very good and the Home appeared well managed. Sadly my husband was rushed to hospital following a seizure and it was discovered that he had 2 fractured arms and 2 fractured bones in his neck.
Despite a full investigation the Home were unable to account for the injuries and subsequent severe bruising that appeared on both arms from shoulder to elbow. Having advanced dementia my husband is unable to verbalise so we will never know how he was so badly injured while in their care, and I have to live with this. He spent 11 weeks in hospital and now requires full nursing care.
Reply from Sophie Dunlea, Home Manager at Haresbrook Park Care HomeWe are deeply saddened that this has been your experience, and for the distress this has caused to you, your husband and your family. Following this incident, a full investigation was carried out involving all relevant parties. Despite extensive review, no direct cause for the injuries could be identified.
We appreciate how upsetting and difficult this uncertainty continues to be. As part of the investigation, it was recognised that seizures themselves can, in some circumstances, result in fractures of this nature. However, we understand this does not lessen the impact of what your family has experienced.
The safety and wellbeing of those in our care remains our highest priority. We have carefully reflected on this incident, reviewed our practices and procedures, and considered all lessons learned to identify where improvements can be made and strengthened. We remain committed to continually improving the care and support we provide to all residents and their families.

We cannot speak highly enough of this care home and would wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

Our Nan was only with them for a short time, but the compassion, kindness, and care she received during that week made a lasting impression on all of us. She was treated with genuine warmth, dignity,

and respect in her final days, which meant everything to our family.

The compassion, kindness, and care extended not only to Nan, but to us as well. The reassurance, empathy, and support we were given during such a difficult time helped more than words can say.

We will always be truly grateful for everything they did, and we would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone looking for a place where people are treated with real humanity and respect.
