The care that my dad received was excellent he was treated with care and compassion at all times,I never felt concern at leaving my dad after visiting as I felt confident in the staff at the home.On each visit my dad was dressed as he would wish and it was apparent that he had been assisted with his
personal needs. The standard and choice of food was excellent and well cooked and presented, cleanliness was extremely good throughout the home.
Sadly my dad died whilst at the home but the end of life care he received was exceptional both for my dad and for us as we always felt included in his care and were made to feel welcome no matter what time we visited
Reply from Trish McCaffrey, Home Manager at Chesford Grange Care HomeThank you so very much for taking the time to write a review, especially as you had already expressed your gratitude in a heartfelt 'thank you' card and the beautiful flowers that are still being admired and enjoyed everyday by all that pass through reception. Not only is it so important that the staff know that the care they provide makes a positive difference but also for anyone looking to place a loved one here at Chesford Grange, it gives them invaluable insight. The staff still speak of your dad fondly and especially in relation to his debonair appearance and gentlemanly conduct. Although our paths crossed but briefly in comparison to the lifetime you have spent with your dad, our loss weighs heavy as we say goodbye to someone we became fond of and of course this includes you as his family who have been so supportive and insightful.

Could not have asked for better care for my dad during the last two years of his life. Staff were approachable, kind and caring throughout the home. All queries and any issues we had were dealt with a considerate and fair manner, with my dad's health and safety their first and foremost concern. Management
were always professional and courteous to me and my family and dad was always treated with respect and dignity.

I was very reluctant for my mother to go to a care home. I had given up work to look after her full time. However after two and a half years, I just couldn't cope anymore .My sister and I had visited quite a few homes but something was missing.
We met the care manager in the hospital; as my mother
had been admitted. I instantly liked her, the understanding and kindness towards my mother and I. The care home is beautifully decorated, we met a few staff who all seemed full of life, the day we visited they had a band playing. My mother has been there since November and I do not worry about her when Im home. My mother always seems happy they also have activities and nice garden rooms its been three months now and we have no complaints so far.
Reply from Carolyn Peacock, Home Manager at Evedale Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We truly appreciate your thoughtful words and are honoured that you chose our home for your mother's care.
We understand how difficult the decision to move a loved one into a care home can be, especially after dedicating so much of yourself to caring for her at home. Supporting families through that transition is something we take very seriously.
I am so pleased that your first meeting with us gave you reassurance during what must have been a very emotional time. Our aim is always to treat every resident and their family with understanding, dignity and kindness from the very beginning.
Creating a warm, lively environment with meaningful activities, music, and welcoming spaces like our garden and all rooms is a big part of helping our residents feel at home. I will be sure to share your kind feedback with the team , they will be delighted to know their warmth and energy have made such a positive difference.

My mum is a current resident of Westfield Lodge, when she arrived at Westfield from hospital we had been told that she was bedbound and would not improve, she has been there since March 2024 and through the care and help of the staff she enjoys all the home as to offer and she is now able to walk using
a frame short distances and loves singing and dancing with the staff. The care and compassion shown by all the staff is amazing and I say to anyone that will listen that Westfield Lodge is the standard for what all care homes should be.

When choosing a care home for my nan to spend the rest of her life in I was nervous wanting to do right by her as she could no longer live by herself, I went to view Westfield lodge and I felt like I'd hit the jackpot! The people are lovely the decor is fantastic it's a real home from home feel. The
food always looks amazing nan always comments on how lovely her dinners are. The carers really do care and do their best by Nan, even when Nan is in one of challenging moods they persevere with her which is reassuring for us.
There's activities on every day during the week and the residents all love it Nan joins in when she feels like it and they're always laughing and smiling, it's very reassuring.

From the first time of entering Haresbrook, I was impressed with how friendly everyone was. Welcoming my nephew brought me to see my sister's new home. I felt happy for her to be a resident here; it felt right from the first day. I felt confident about leaving May here to be cared for, and I haven't
been worried or disappointed at all. The food looks and smells delicious, her room is comfortable, very clean, and peaceful when she needs to sleep in during the daytime. Residents are friendly. There is nothing to dislike about the home. "Friendly, caring staff"

Mum went into Chesford only 6 months ago and in that short time I can honestly say that the care has been second to none. The management and all staff are very friendly, helpful, caring, compassionate and dedicated to the residents.
Sadly mum passed away this week and the end of life care is on another
level.
My mum would be so pleased to have ended her life in the very dignified way that the whole team made happen.
If you are thinking of a loved one going into Chesford, then mark my words it will be the best decision you ever made for them.
Reply from Trish McCaffrey, Home Manager at Chesford Grange Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback about how we cared for your mum, especially at what must be an emotional time for you and your family. From day one I believe we have worked together to do the very best for your mum who was a pleasure to care for and who is missed especially by those who sat with her during the last days of her life. It is so uplifting for the staff to receive such positive feedback and that in itself enables them to continue to care for the residents living at Chesford Grange in the knowledge that they are appreciated. Thank you for putting your trust in us to care for your mum; your patience, understanding and support made a huge difference. Our best wishes go to you and your family as you start the next chapter with all of the great memories of your mum that you have built up over the years and in the knowledge that she left this world knowing that she was valued, loved and cared for.

Staff are lovely -management get involved and we feel they genuinely care.
The activities coordinator is absolutely brilliant, a breath of fresh air.

My mother was in Portland House from April 2019 until her death in December 2025 (aged 104). She received excellent nursing care, especially in the last 2 years, in which the necrotic condition of her foot required constant monitoring and skilful dressing to prevent it from spreading. She was bedridden
for about 5 and a half years and needed frequent repositioning. The care staff treated her with dignity, kindness and affection. The cleaning staff also did what they could to help her. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for all that the staff did to make my mother comfortable and content in her difficult final years.

From the moment my sister arrived at Portland House, almost a year ago, she has been treated with courtesy and kindness. She is well settled and enjoys the numerous cups of tea! The staff always treats her with dignity and understand her needs. They have time to chat and listen to her. During the time
she has been at Portland her interest in life has improved immensely.
All the staff are polite and friendly, they always smile and nothing is too much trouble. There appears to be a high ratio of staff to residents. I am impressed with the quality of entertainment offered. The planned events usually happen! There is always something going on plus the outside entertainers have been excellent. There are always 2 choices for lunch and portions are good sized plus a glass of wine if wanted!
The building is welcoming, warm and clean. The manager is delightful, kind and supportive to the whole family.
Thank you all for your commitment and care.

Genuinely cannot thank the management (Sophie), reception (Sophie & Karen) and all the nurses and care team. Dad has received the best care from everyone, and I will be eternally grateful. Always keeping us updated with his care plan and giving reassurance that he is being cared for and nothing is too
much trouble.
You genuinely are a team that cares. Thank you.

Staff are brilliant, especially Sophie (manager), Sophie (reception) and Karen. My dad has gone downhill very recently, and they've all been brilliant and so considerate. I feel so reassured that he is receiving the best care when I am not able to be here. The staff genuinely care - thank you!
Special
shout to carer Aish - fantastic carer and genuinely lovely person.
