I have nothing but praise for the care and love that all the staff at Hillcrest showed to my mum. Not only were they lovely with mum, but the nurses were always there for me too when I found dealing with dementia too much to bear. A fair few times I ended up crying in their office while they listened
with understanding and no judgement at all. In fact, all the staff had taken time to get to know mum well and were kindness personified, particularly in the last few difficult weeks. She passed in her own, beautiful room with French doors looking out over the gardens and on to the impressive Shropshire hills beyond. Quite simply, I could have wished for nothing more.
Reply from Jan Downes, Home Manager at Hillcrest Manor Nursing HomeThank you so much for such a lovely review. Your mum was a wonderful lady who was a pleasure to know, and we miss her hugely. I am so pleased everything worked out and you were able to feel supported by the staff - we aim to help residents and families in any way we can. Thank you again.

A very positive experience every day - from cheerful and helpful receptionists to friendly and informed staff who have made a great effort to ensure my husband's health and social needs are met. His room is pleasant and well equipped, and he looks forward to nicely served food.
Social areas are attractively
decorated and arranged, and used for an interesting range of activities. I only wish he didn't need to be here!

My dad went into hillcrest after a few weeks in hospital .
His transfer was a little traumatic which was due to the hospital waiting for a ambulance,
When arriving at hillcrest the staff were absolutely wonderful very attentive and very pleasant reasuring dad he was in safe hands
Unfortunately
dad was only there for 5 days but the care for dad was exceptional
Reply from Jan Downes, Home Manager at Hillcrest Manor Nursing HomeThank you so much for your positive review of our home. We really care about our residents, and realise that they are often feeling exhausted and confused when they arrive here, and need to feel reassured. It was a privilege to look after your dad. My mother let Portland due to her becoming increasingly ill with Alzheimer's. However, even though she was becoming extremely difficult to manage, the staff at Portland were superb. They really stepped up and took care of all her needs in the most difficult of circumstances. At the same time the management
team were increasingly supportive in helping find a new nursing home for Mum that cared for her complex needs. They went well beyond what I expected, and I really can't thank them enough, they have been superb.

After a journey on an awful country road, the pure delight when you see Hillcrest in its own surroundings is a complete joy. The manor oozes joy straight away from the moment you walk through the door. The home is absolutely superb, with staff to match.
I will be 85 in October and have told my family
that if I have to go in a home, Hillcrest is for me. Superb, well done.

I am extremely pleased with the kindness with which my two friends are looked after. There as so many activities that they can join in with when they want to. It is expensive, as all care homes are, but I can't think of anything that needs improving.

My grandad was put in portland for rest bite he got a bed very quickly, staff were friendly and welcoming. He had never been anywere before very independent man who didn't like change. The staff made him feel comfortable and was like a little family unit. Anything my grandad needed or wanted was no
trouble. Cares, nurses, manager were also easy to speek too and got to know my granddad as a person not just a number. He sadly passed away 2 weeks later, but was made comfortable for his last days. Would definitely recommend short or long term stays here

The home is spotlessly clean and always smelled fresh. Mum had her own spacious ensuite room, with a view onto the side garden with access through a patio door, ideal as she was mainly bedbound she was regularly taken to the tv/dayrooms to join in activities /entertainer. There is ample furniture for
clothes and belongings which are washed regularly and put away The cleaning ladies do an excellent job of keeping it spotless, the care staff are attentive and interactive with the residents, The home has a variety of entertainment, which residents can go and see/join in if they want. The entertainment team are great at what they do ensuring that no one is left out. Highly trained nursing staff have a wonderful caring side and are at hand anytime day/night. The admin/ management make you feel part of the family the minute you walk in. Mum passed away at the end of January. I can honestly say we couldn't have wished for a more caring group of people to have around us at that time.

All of the staff are warm and friendly. Both to residents and family. Nothing is too much trouble. Having been through a journey of stress and encountering indifferent attitudes, the staff at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home have shown empathy and real care. Always keen to answer questions and if they are
not sure they will find out. Dad is treated with dignity and respect.

My beloved wife has been a resident of Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home for some months now and I feel it is time for me to express my deep gratitude for all the wonderful care and support she has received. Her dementia is fairly advanced now and I cannot fault the level of care and attention all the staff
provide for her. They are friendly and approachable and always so willing to answer my concerns or just talk about how she is. Nothing seems too much trouble and there is always time for them to do their best and show kindness in meeting her needs. I always feel welcome when visiting and am always offered to share a meal if I am there at lunchtime. It does feel like everyone is happy to be part of the team and always do their best under the excellent leadership.

I am writing this to express my deepest gratitude to all of the staff for the love and care they have given my partner over the last five years and for the kindness and support they have always shown to me.
At the onset of COVID-19, I was fortunate in being permitted to become a volunteer so that I
was able to continue being with her daily and remained in that role for two and a half years. For that privilege, I will be eternally grateful.
Because of that close contact, I can attest to the extremely high standards that are achieved in all aspects of the care provided and the wonderful atmosphere and staff interaction with residents now so dominant in the Nursing Home.
Thank you all.
