We as a family, cannot express our gratitude to everyone at Ashfield House. All staff are so friendly and supportive. We are always welcomed with a smile. If my dad is having a bad day, there is always a hug and a cup of tea.
This was the first home offered for my dad and initially we wanted somewhere
closer to home, but the service has received over the few years the little extra miles has been so worth it.

Mum's home is clean and tidy. Staff are very competent, kind, caring and friendly. Very supportive of residents family. Keeping family informed of changes to their residents, i.e. change in medication, doctor visiting, well being. The home feels like a home from home place to be. Management, care staff,
cooks, cleaners, handy man, all work together as a team, so very well that it makes the home such a happy environment to live and be in.

Mum has been at Ashfield House since August 2024. She has a choice of meals every day, and they listen to her when she prefers something different. She is not very keen on the sandwich option for teatime, though. There are activities available every day which most of the residents join in with. The
activities are well thought out, encouraging mind and body well being. Care staff treat mum with dignity and respect.

My father spent 2 weeks here on respite care. There were plenty of staff around to see to his needs and activities available for him to take part in. Everyone was friendly and he was made to feel welcome. He probably hasn't eaten so well for a long time !
Although he was keen to return to the familiar
surroundings of his own home this in no way detracts from the standard of care he received here.

My mother came to Ashfield House in October 2024, having fallen and broken her femur and displaying early signs of dementia.
She has settled into Ashfield well and while she is sometimes emotionally stressed, this is now her permanent home, so it's very important to the family that she is as happy
as possible and looked after by caring helpers. That is certainly the care at Ashfield. The staff are amazingly good, the room and facilities are excellent and there is so much organised for the residents. We were so very fortunate to have settled on Ashfield, it is really an outstanding care home. Thanks and congratulations to all staff.

From the moment we walked through the door here when we were looking for somewhere for my aunt thesis was a warm and friendly environment.
Everyone said hello to us.
Since moving in my aunt has joined in with the activities and made friends.
Everyone continues to be friendly whenever we
visit. I am so glad we moved her here

Staff were all extremely kind and friendly. Mum was looked after really well. Mum was treated with dignity and respect by all staff. As a family, we were also treated with dignity and respect. Communication was very good.
Staff made an effort to find out about Mum and us as a family. It was mum and
Dad's 65th wedding anniversary while mum was there and the management team arranged an afternoon tea for us where we could sit in a private room as a family and celebrate. This meant the world to us. I would recommend Ashfield House to anyone.

My mother passed away on the 2nd of January 2025. I was overwhelmed with the genuine compassion and empathy shown by all of the staff that were present at the time. This was a true reflection of the love and affection towards my mum during the whole of her stay, the key being in the name. Ashfield House,
staffed by people who really care, making it a place my mum could call home.

This care home exceeded my expectations. All of the staff really care. It surprised me how much attention they gave my nan and you could tell that they genuinely cared about her. She started to need more and more assistance, but they still found the time to spend 20 minutes helping her eat her lunch.
This care home I would say is more for people who are less physically able, but they do have a nice garden area for some fresh air. Also, the care home is in a really nice and quiet location.
It's not like living in a 5-star hotel, but with the resources they seem to have available, I think they do a very decent job. The different levels of staff and management are also very approachable, allowing you to discuss any requests or issues. They also don't hold you to specific visiting hours making it feel more like you can pop in and out at your convenience and makes it feel more like it's their home.

My wife has been in the home for nearly two years with dementia. This has been a relief for me and my family. The main reason is the staff, not only do they care for me and my family, they show a very caring attitude to my wife who is now in a helpless state and I am very happy with the way they cope
with a very difficult situation.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.551)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.551) out of 10 for Ashfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.551 for Ashfield House is calculated as follows: ( (164 Excellents x 5) + (117 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 287 Ratings = 4.551
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashfield House is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
