Lynhales Hall Nursing Home provides expert nursing care for residents with complex care needs involving physical and mental health conditions.

Tailored support is given to people with physical disabilities, sensory impairments or progressive illness within a well-equipped, yet comfortable and homely, environment. The John Sperry Memorial Unit embraces John Sperry’s belief in the importance of allowing residents to be themselves and to express their personalities, free of sedation.

Compassionate care is delivered 24 hours per day by a team of dedicated and specialised staff. This exceptional care, complemented by the purpose-built facilities, means that every resident can achieve their potential and enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle, regardless of the type and stage of dementia they have.

Lynhales Hall is set within 7 acres of beautiful, peaceful woodland, conveniently close to the charming market town of Kington. This offers a real choice for residents who are able to relax in the luxurious surroundings of the home or explore the local amenities, accompanied by a member of the care team.

The outdoor space at Lynhales Hall is beautiful and is often the location of local fayres and garden parties, but the home interior is equally inviting. The homely decorated rooms and communal social spaces give a real home-from-home feeling – and this is enhanced through personalisation with the inclusion of residents’ furniture and treasured possessions.

There are a huge range of activities organised by the in-house team to stimulate, spark enthusiasm and capture the imagination. Mealtimes too can be a very social affair, with friends and family encouraged to join in and enjoy the variety of freshly-prepared foods on offer to suit all dietary requirements.

My father has been a resident in Lynhales Hall for a little over two years and settled in quickly due to the kind care that he received. He has been well looked after and we have kept informed with any issues by telephone. Dad always looks near and tidy and well-kempt. Staffa re on hand to assist should
we require anything whilst on site.

My husband has been a patient at Lynhales for 3 1/2 years, he has been cared for by the staff, with kindness, compassion and dedication.
Sadly he passed, and the care from all involved at Lynhales has been exceptional. I felt so relieved that his last few days were calm, and that he was comfortable
and peaceful. Thank you for all concerned.

Since my father has been a resdient at Lynhales I have been impressed with the care that is provided by the home and the staff there. They are always very good with the residents in a job that is extremely demanding. The home is very nice and is surrounded by lovely gardens and the setting is very beautiful.

I visited my Nan for the first time in a few years, being so far away it has been difficult to juggle home life etc but I'm so glad I was able to get up this time, it was so lovely to see my Nan happy and content, at the same time being clean and tidy and very well looked after, her room was light and
airy and she had a lovely bird feeder at her window that was so lovely to see the birds coming up to it and chirping away. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and had the time to talk to me regarding my Nan and reassured me that she is very well looked after, and one employee even took the time to comfort me when I got upset, I constantly had fresh drinks made available to me. Thank you Lynhales staff for taking good care of my beautiful Nan, I am hoping to get up again very soon.
Reply from Nick Brown, Home Manager at Lynhales Hall Nursing HomeThank you so much for your beautiful and touching message. We are extremly happy with all aspects of my fathers care. He was moved here from another care home and the care he receives here is so much better. They cater for dementia which the previous care home didn't and he is so much calmer and happier.
The staff are all quiet and attentive and handle any
difficult situations calmly.

My husband came to Lynhales after a stay in hospital. At Lynhales he was treated with such care, love and dignity. He was supervised and helped to wash and dress, infinite patience was shown. I know this because I spent 8 hours a day with him. Supporting and walking outside when weather permits and
inside when not. The staff never complained and were happy and accommodating. In his last 6 weeks, he was bedbound but a steady stream of 'visitors' (staff) came to see him and chat even though he no longer responded. Coffee and tea flowed on demand for me! The last 3 days of his life I only went home for an hour in the morning while the staff cleaned and did his daily care. I almost became a permanent fixture! But sympathy and love flowed around us both. I will always be grateful that his last months were in such a happy environment with such knowledgeable staff. Parkinson's and Dementia are such horrible illnesses. Thanks to Lynhales we felt safe.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.996)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.996) out of 10 for Lynhales Hall Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.996 for Lynhales Hall Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (258 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 259 Ratings = 4.996
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lynhales Hall Nursing Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 73 registered maximum number of service users is 14.6, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
