The John Sperry Memorial Unit embraces John Sperry’s belief in the importance of allowing residents to be themselves and to express their personalities, free of sedation.

Compassionate care is delivered 24 hours per day by a team of dedicated and specialised staff. This exceptional care, complemented by the purpose-built facilities, means that every resident can achieve their potential and enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle, regardless of the type and stage of dementia they have.

Lynhales Hall is set within 7 acres of beautiful, peaceful woodland, conveniently close to the charming market town of Kington. This offers a real choice for residents who are able to relax in the luxurious surroundings of the home or explore the local amenities, accompanied by a member of the care team.

The outdoor space at Lynhales Hall is beautiful and is often the location of local fayres and garden parties, but the home interior is equally inviting. The homely decorated rooms and communal social spaces give a real home-from-home feeling – and this is enhanced through personalisation with the inclusion of residents’ furniture and treasured possessions.

As soon as my husband arrived at Lynhales he settled very quickly and was made to feel at home. The staff are very caring and take the time to get to know each of the residents and their background stories. I am so pleased that he is a resident and being cared for so well.

After a few rocky months, the home is improving. The atmosphere is now pleasant friendly and welcoming. The staff are happy, which shows in the marked improvement in all areas. I now am happy to leave my mum in very capable hands. I do hope this improvement continues when a new manager is found, but
for now, things are really good.

My husband was in your care for three years, during this time he was looked after extremely well. He was quite challenging initially and the staff managed his behaviour in an appropriate and caring way. As his condition deteriorated over time, both mentally and physically, the staff adjusted to his
needs compassionately, allowing him to keep his dignity at all times.
He had a good relationship with his carers and even made them laugh at times. All the staff were approachable at all times and made the family welcome when visiting my husband.
He was always happy to participate in any activities that were organised by the home, including the Christmas party and the annual walk.

Our relative is resident at Lynhales September 2014. Her mental needs have not been met. Activities arranged are below her mental capacity. Her memory is poor but mental capacity is good. We have talked to the activities organiser and she does her best but with many other residents to consider
with dementia she doesn't have time to devote one to one stimulation for her.
We have an enormous regard for the Sister who rapidly addresses every concern we may have about her health and well-being. Other staff are always friendly and will do anything we ask when we visit her.

Over Christmas/New Year period she was poorly with diarrhoea and a bad chest infection. I spoke to different Agency nurses who did not know her or about her health. At all times there should be a superior nurse on duty, even at holiday times. If hers had been a life-threatening situation we should have been extremely upset at the lack of expert supervision.

Whenever I visited my grandmother, she was always happy and content, she really enjoyed the activities Lynhales held at the time. I would definitely recommend this nursing home to anyone as they take great care of their residents.

My husband spent the last year of his life at Lynhales. It is a very professionally run care home. The management and care staff are excellent. All the staff are kind and caring and they always go out of their way to spend time talking and listening to the residents. It has a real homely atmosphere.
My husband was able to make special requests as to what he would like for breakfast or dinner and these were alway accommodated. My husband felt loved and respected whilst living there and thoroughly enjoyed the 12 months he spent at Lynhales. I would definitely recommend it to others.

I visit my sister regularly at Lynhales and thoroughly enjoy my visits. I am made to feel very welcome by all the staff and always offered refreshments. Today we have enjoyed the entertainment that Lynhales provided, a lovely gentleman who played the violin. The lounge was full of other residents to
whom everyone had a lovely morning too.

I don't come to see my Nan as often as I would like but when I do come and see her she seems very happy and content. She always looks well cared for and tells me that she has enjoyed her day. I have not tried the food but the menu always looks good.

I visit my friend in Lynhales on an ad hoc basis when I am able. I also try to attend events, such as the annual memory walk for the Alzheimer's Society and the summer fete. She is happy and well cared for, always looks presentable and tells me she enjoys the plentiful and appetising food. The staff
are always very welcoming and nothing seems to be too much trouble.

Dad has been in the specialist Dementia unit in Lynhales for nearly 12 mths and has settled well. The staff have been very kind and patient in what are clearly challenging circumstances. He is safe, secure and well looked after.

I always attend the events that Lynhales hold throughout the year. The Christmas party, the summer garden party and the Alzheimers memory walk to name a few. All events are focused with the residents in mind and the management, office staff and care staff always go the extra mile to make the day(s)

I have always been welcome when I visit. As my husband's Nan stays in her room (own choice) it's a lovely warm and cosy bedroom. The grounds are beautiful and well kept Ali g with the building itself. As I don't visit very often it's hard to give my views on some options about this home. I like how
the home provides a lot of fun days for service users, family, friends. The food always looks and smells delicious whenever I am there.

I find all of the aspects of Care Home totally satisfactory. I am kept updated on my mother's condition and any changes there too. In all the time at Lynhales she seems very contented and her health is carefully monitored. I am very comfortable with her continued well-being.

My husband now lives here and I would like to say that the staff take excellent care of him and also of me. They are constantly supportive and concerned about us both and keep a professionally watchful eye on his physical and mental well-being. There are many activities for him to join but he is never
pressured to do so. His room and indeed, all the areas of the home are kept spotlessly clean and the home-cooking is delicious.
