Lynhales Hall Nursing Home provides expert nursing care for residents with complex care needs involving physical and mental health conditions.

Tailored support is given to people with physical disabilities, sensory impairments or progressive illness within a well-equipped, yet comfortable and homely, environment. The John Sperry Memorial Unit embraces John Sperry’s belief in the importance of allowing residents to be themselves and to express their personalities, free of sedation.

Compassionate care is delivered 24 hours per day by a team of dedicated and specialised staff. This exceptional care, complemented by the purpose-built facilities, means that every resident can achieve their potential and enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle, regardless of the type and stage of dementia they have.

Lynhales Hall is set within 7 acres of beautiful, peaceful woodland, conveniently close to the charming market town of Kington. This offers a real choice for residents who are able to relax in the luxurious surroundings of the home or explore the local amenities, accompanied by a member of the care team.

The outdoor space at Lynhales Hall is beautiful and is often the location of local fayres and garden parties, but the home interior is equally inviting. The homely decorated rooms and communal social spaces give a real home-from-home feeling – and this is enhanced through personalisation with the inclusion of residents’ furniture and treasured possessions.

There are a huge range of activities organised by the in-house team to stimulate, spark enthusiasm and capture the imagination. Mealtimes too can be a very social affair, with friends and family encouraged to join in and enjoy the variety of freshly-prepared foods on offer to suit all dietary requirements.

My father has been a resident at Lynhales for 3 years now. The care has been excellent. The staff are amazing and are always treat all residents with respect. My father has been very settled in the home and we really could not ask for a better environment for him to be in. Although difficult through
covid restrictions we have been informed of his progress throughout. The John Sperry unit is perfectly designed to allow residents to wander around and have some quiet space along with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

The most amazing staff. Kind and caring not only to the residents but with the family. I have felt totally supported on each visit I make to see my mum. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lynhales to anyone who was looking for the best care for their loved one. The home manager and her team
are kind and never make you feel like you're a nuisance. They spend the time with you which is paramount. Head and shoulders above every other care home we visited before setting on the wonderful Lynhales.

I am very happy and grateful for the excellent care that my husband receives at Lynhales. The staff are so caring and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The facilities are excellent and are well cared for and clean. Even during these difficult times of Covid, I am able to do an outside visit
at my request which they are happy to facilitate. I feel reassured that he is in good hands and is being well cared for.

I have bever been treated to anything but the utmost respect from all here. The staff are so caring to my wife who can be very difficult at times. Each time I visits, I am careful to see and asses how she looks before she notices. I want to know how she is when I am not there. She always seems happy
and I waleay leave pleased that she is in the right place.

As soon as my husband arrived at Lynhales he settled very quickly and was made to feel at home. The staff are very caring and take the time to get to know each of the residents and their background stories. I am so pleased that he is a resident and being cared for so well.

After a few rocky months, the home is improving. The atmosphere is now pleasant friendly and welcoming. The staff are happy, which shows in the marked improvement in all areas. I now am happy to leave my mum in very capable hands. I do hope this improvement continues when a new manager is found, but
for now, things are really good.

My husband was in your care for three years, during this time he was looked after extremely well. He was quite challenging initially and the staff managed his behaviour in an appropriate and caring way. As his condition deteriorated over time, both mentally and physically, the staff adjusted to his
needs compassionately, allowing him to keep his dignity at all times.
He had a good relationship with his carers and even made them laugh at times. All the staff were approachable at all times and made the family welcome when visiting my husband.
He was always happy to participate in any activities that were organised by the home, including the Christmas party and the annual walk.

Our relative is resident at Lynhales September 2014. Her mental needs have not been met. Activities arranged are below her mental capacity. Her memory is poor but mental capacity is good. We have talked to the activities organiser and she does her best but with many other residents to consider
with dementia she doesn't have time to devote one to one stimulation for her.
We have an enormous regard for the Sister who rapidly addresses every concern we may have about her health and well-being. Other staff are always friendly and will do anything we ask when we visit her.
Phone direct to Main House, please.
Over Christmas/New Year period she was poorly with diarrhoea and a bad chest infection. I spoke to different Agency nurses who did not know her or about her health. At all times there should be a superior nurse on duty, even at holiday times. If hers had been a life-threatening situation we should have been extremely upset at the lack of expert supervision.

My husband spent the last year of his life at Lynhales. It is a very professionally run care home. The management and care staff are excellent. All the staff are kind and caring and they always go out of their way to spend time talking and listening to the residents. It has a real homely atmosphere.
My husband was able to make special requests as to what he would like for breakfast or dinner and these were alway accommodated. My husband felt loved and respected whilst living there and thoroughly enjoyed the 12 months he spent at Lynhales. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.996)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.996) out of 10 for Lynhales Hall Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.996 for Lynhales Hall Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (258 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 259 Ratings = 4.996
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lynhales Hall Nursing Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 73 registered maximum number of service users is 14.6, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
