Henwick Grange Nursing Home

I am extremely impressed with both the home and carers, they treat my father with the utmost respect and are always cheerful, having a laugh and joke with him, which helps to make him more comfortable. Also he is fed very well providing a lovely varied menu. Overall an outstanding care home. 5 star.

My mother went to Henwick Grange Nursing Home for end of life care for the last week of her life, after living with us in our family home for many years. I felt guilty having to hand her care over to others. The staff at Henwick Grange Nursing Home took away that guilt, they cared for Mum with compassion and dignity. Also making sure that my sister and myself were cared for too. The room Mum was in was clean and tidy, and the food was excellent but more than anything it was the staff that made Mums last week as easy as it could be, and we the family will be forever grateful.

I feel relieved that my wife is being looked after very well.

Henwick Grange has been wonderful. My husband is receiving excellent professional care. The staff are very kind, attentive and treat him with the utmost respect. The rooms are lovely and bright and the food is excellent. The manager, nursing staff and all the staff I have met work tirelessly to make Henwick Grange comfortable and happy. They have supported me also giving me help, advice and reassurance for which I am so grateful.

Henwick Grange couldn't do enough for my husband as he lay dying while in their care all the staff were wonderful and so caring. I can highly recommend this nursing home.

The staff in this nursing home are to be highly commended for their hard work and dedication to providing dignified and compassionate care to the residents. They ensured that my father's last days of life were as comfortable and peaceful as possible, and also extended their compassion and humanity to our family during what was a very difficult and distressing time for us. We cannot thank them enough for everything they did.

The care shown to my Aunt in her last few weeks of life was wonderful. All the staff showed so much compassion to us as a family taking time to make sure we were okay. Thanks to Henwick Grange, my Aunt passed away peacefully and with dignity. We are truly grateful.

Level of care too variable. Lots of promises not delivered. Can't even provide brown bread or cream crackers to residents. Family provided items that have gone missing, clothes, food etc.

Dad has always received a good standard of care at Henwick Grange. More recently, extra focus has been given to his needs which has resulted in a positive change in his well being. He has also moved to a larger room, now on the ground floor, which was newly decorated for him. It means he now has better access to a lovely lounge and garden area. A programme of re-decoration in the building is another positive step. Dad is always happy with the food. Staff at every level are always friendly, throughout covid lockdown we have been able to communicate via phone or facetime. We have maintained contact with management throughout, whenever needed. We congratulate everyone at Henwick for keeping all the residents safe throughout a dreadful time.

We are really happy with the care provided. Would like to be informed more regularly of events and activities - email would be fine.

My father spent less than 24hrs here following discharge from hospital (the home of their choosing). He fell during the night and I had to ring for an ambulance when I arrived at 7.30am to find him laying on the bed with a cut to his head and a suspected broken arm.

Both my mum and dad are being cared for at Henwick Grange, both having nursing needs and Dementia. We are very impressed with the standard of care and attention they are getting. Staff work 1-1 with both of them, they both love the food and are very happy. Their well-being has improved since being there.
