  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.486 for St John's Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (37 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.486

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.119 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St John's Court Nursing Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 = 3

    2. Target of 8.4 positive Reviews (42 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 1 Reviews ÷ 8.4 Target = 0.119

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Dad needed 24hour nursing and care after suffering a stroke. He moved into St John's Court in October 2016. St. John's Court is so welcoming, it's a wonderful caring home. All residents are treated equally with much respect and dignity. The nursing, care and management are second to none, the activity team go above and beyond to keep residents as active as possible and keep their interests alive. Every day there is something for them to do. All staff go out of their way to help keep everyone comfortable and happy. The managements door is always open for advice or support. Everyone is passionate about making a difference to their residents, they genuinely care. St. John's Court has taken a lot of pressure and upset away from my family, we know that dad is looked after with care, respect and dignity. I can't recommend St John's Court enough, it's a real gem.
Thank you St John's Court, you should all be proud of yourselves for such a lovely home and for making a difference to your residents and their families.

My Mother was recently admitted to St John's Court Nursing Home and since then her care has been of the highest standard. The Staff have been knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, as nothing is too much trouble for them. The Management have made the process easy and trouble-free. The Home, although busy, has a relaxed and homely atmosphere and whenever we leave MUM we do so with peace of mind knowing that she is receiving the care she requires.

My husband entered St Johns in June 2014, we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. My husband just preferred to stay in his room, but at all times he was well looked after, he died on March 2015. He spent his last week of life in hospital and died of pneumonia.

Mum originally came to St John's for 6 weeks respite care after breaking her arm. She liked it so much she decided to stay. It will be her fifth year this year and Mum has remained happy and comfortable at St John's. She loves the food and enjoys the entertainment and activities that are frequently provided. Although mum spends the majority of time in her room contact with staff is frequent throughout the day, she views the them as her 'visitors'. Dental care, opticians and hairdressing are available 'in house' which is great for residents with limited mobility.
I have consistently observed the nursing care to be of a high standard and mum is always presented as clean and well dressed. Any minor niggles normal to care home 'life' i.e lost socks! are always addressed. Staff are caring and friendly. St John's feels like 'home' for mum.

Warm friendly atmosphere with attentive caring and helpful staff.
There are a good number of mature staff which we believe ensures the very caring attitude of the entire staff.
(Far superior in every way to three other care homes I have had occasion to visit in the last 12 months).
