Churchill House is located in the historic market town of Ludlow which boasts a stunning castle, a fantastic weir on the river Teme, numerous historical sites and famous food festivals. This purpose-built care home offers a welcoming, homely atmosphere, thoughtfully combined with modern amenities to ensure guests feel comfortable, secure, and well cared for.

Churchill House is proud to offer a beautiful wrap-around garden that is at the heart of daily life. Residents are encouraged to enjoy the garden as often as possible, whether relaxing outdoors, socialising, or taking part in meaningful activities. The garden is full of colour throughout the summer months and was recognised as the winner of the Shrewsbury Care Home Garden Competition 2024.

The garden is also home to much-loved chickens and guinea pigs, who bring great joy to residents and are a popular part of everyday life. For those with a passion for gardening, the greenhouse allows residents in the Gardening Club to grow vegetables together, promoting wellbeing, purpose, and connection with nature. At Churchill House, the garden is more than just a space – it’s an experience to be shared and enjoyed by all.

The team of nurses and care staff are experienced and compassionate, working alongside all departments within the home to provide a warm, welcoming and friendly environment.

Life at Churchill House is vibrant and full of energy, with activities taking place every day—and often throughout the day. Residents and their families enjoy a wide range of events together, and the sound of laughter and joy is a familiar and heart-warming part of daily life here.

Thank you for providing such a happy, homely and secure environment for out stepmother for the last nine months of her life.
We were very impressed with the high standard of both nursing and social care given by all members of staff. We felt welcome to visit at any time without prior arrangement.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.708) out of 10 for Churchill House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.708 for Churchill House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (212 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 271 Ratings = 4.708
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Churchill House Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Jayne is known for her warm, friendly nature and her ability to build strong, trusting relationships with both residents and their families. She loves to chat and believes that taking the time to really get to know people is at the heart of excellent care. Her experience, approachability and genuine kindness make her a hugely valued member of the team.

In addition to her senior nursing role, Jayne is also Churchill House’s dedicated end-of-life Butterfly nurse. In this role, she provides compassionate support to residents and their loved ones during the end of life, helping to ensure comfort, dignity and reassurance at what can be a very emotional time.
