My father was resident at Hillcrest Manor for over two years and had visited for respite care in the year before permanent admission. He was quite a challenging patient but received excellent care and support from all staff. He was blind and had dementia and was at particular risk of having a fall because
he was very active during the night but due to the swift attention of staff, he remained safe. The food was excellent and he enjoyed his meals very much. At the end of his life, the management and staff were very caring towards our family members and I will always be grateful for being allowed to sit with him listening to his favourite music in his final days. Grateful thanks to all staff at Hillcrest.

My aunt was in Hillcrest for end of life care, and the COVID-19 pandemic meant I was unable to visit through her whole time there. She died of heart failure in June.


So the review is based on impressions on phone and email contact rather than visits, and is an impression therefore, plus comments

from people who know the home. I did always find both the admin staff and nursing staff very helpful, efficient and caring.

My Mum has been at Hillcrest for 18-months and has settled in well and always seems very happy when we visit. She requires a high level of personal care and we're very grateful to the kind and caring staff that look after her. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and work extremely hard to
make sure everyone is comfortable. The activities and entertainment are great and help stimulate the residents, and Hillcrest always welcomes family and friends to come along to enjoy the entertainment too. You can visit the home at any time, which is really helpful. They have a nice outdoor space, and I like to see Mum outside in her chair in the fresh air whenever possible.
Hillcrest is in a lovely position, so I'm sure the residents appreciate getting outside to enjoy the view. The food is excellent, and always plenty of it. Mum needs 1:1 for eating, so we thank the staff that feed her. Communication has improved in the last 12-months, which is very much welcomed - great newsletters!

My daughter has been a resident at Hillcrest Manor for four months. The care she has received has been excellent and she always seems happy when we visit. I have always found the staff at Hillcrest very helpful, caring and considerate. My Mother has been in Hillcrest for just over a year and she seems very happy and well cared for. The staff always treat my Mother with respect, dignity, privacy and they always make sure her appearance is fresh and tidy.
Throughout the coronavirus epidemic, Hillcrest has always kept us updated with their policies on health and safety. Although I have not seen my Mother since Monday 16th March, I know she is being well looked after and I have had weekly contact with the home.
I would not hesitate to recommend Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home.

The home is in a beautiful, rural, peaceful situation and the rooms are light, well heated, spacious and pleasant. The staff are professional, caring, kind and friendly. They have remained cheerful and positive during this frightening Coronavirus pandemic, for which I am extremely grateful. It is a

Lovely place to live and the team look after me very well. I couldn't ask for better care.
The food is great; I really enjoy the gentlemen's club; which is held on alternative Saturday's. The manager is also present, supporting and teaching her team. I do spend a lot of time enjoying chats and jokes
with all the staff.

The entrance is well signposted. The home is clean, bright and fresh smelling. All staff are professional, welcoming and friendly. The gentleman I visited on the EMI Unit was smart, clean and in a peaceful mood. All the other EMI residents were contented and awaiting their lunch, which smelled very
good!

My mother was resident at Hillcrest Manor in Dec 2018 only, following a short spell in hospital and requiring nursing care after before her passing. Myself and the family found the staff to be very kind, supportive, attentive and nothing seemed too much trouble. Mum had a lovely upstairs room with views
of the Shropshire hills and a very comfortable, supportive and safe bed. Food was good and the kitchen staff were happy to alter it to her needs as and when her health deteriorated further, along with as many cups of tea as she wanted.
A clean nursing home in a lovely environment.
Only criticism was that sometimes handover information between staff about my mother did not seem to be passed on, so felt that I would have to update myself, but I know this has also been mentioned to the area manager by my friend who's own mother resides as Hillcrest and feels the same about all of the comments in my review.
I would certainly recommend Hillcrest and I have done so already.

The care that is given at the home is amazing considering the shortage of staff. In my opinion, the Granary (where Mum is) should have at least three members of staff on at any one time.
However on numerous occasions during the last two months, there have only been two staff members!
This is not safe
as some residents require two carers to take them to the toilet which leaves no one on the floor to care for the others!
When asked why only two, we were told that is was due to management staff cuts - this is unacceptable as it is putting residents safety at risk.

She has a wealth of experience in many areas presently looks after Clinical Governance, and has a particular interest in Tissue Viability and Wound Care.


Nikki has been in care for so many years she is passionate about the role as she is able to give holistic treatment to her residents and provide support for families and friends also in her current role as Deputy she offers continuing support and training to all the staff whilst overseeing shifts and any issues that may arise.
