My Mother was a resident at Llysfield for a few months during 2026, in between hospital visits.

My Mother was a resident at Llysfield for a few months during 2026, in between hospital visits.
Mum was initially placed on the top floor of the care home. She needed nursing care. Mum was well looked after, although was in a room in the corner of the building, so there wasn't much in terms of passing care, or it wasn't as easy for us to flag someone down when we needed support. That said, whenever I had concerns, I raised them and the staff at Llysfield took my enquiry seriously and followed up and dealt with her needs - be that short term, or more medium term.

That said, whenever I had concerns, I raised them and the staff at Llysfield took my enquiry seriously and followed up and dealt with her needs - be that short term, or more medium term.
Mum then returned to Llysfield as a palliative patient. She was moved downstairs to a smaller but generally better room. She was cared for well by the members of staff, who also looked after me and her daughter for 5 days until she passed. The staff, the care, and the dedication provided was exceptional. We are truly grateful that Mum's last days could be at Llysfield. The staff could do no wrong, and I'm eternally grateful.

Overall Experience
Our experience was that residents were not supported often enough or observed closely enough, perhaps due to inadequate staffing. My relatives room was not cleaned thoroughly.

Our experience was that residents were not supported often enough or observed closely enough, perhaps due to inadequate staffing. My relatives room was not cleaned thoroughly.
My relative was not treated holistically and basic care needs not always met.
Most of the staff are kind, but rushed and unable to provide care to an ideal standard. Some staff were rude and unkind to both the resident and to myself.
Understanding of health conditions was inadequate which has led to avoidable deterioration in condition.
When concerns were escalated, some changes were made, however management was defensive and it made an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience here, after doing same with CQC and Shropshire Council few months ago when your relative was in our care.As expressed to you before in two letters, first to apologise for your experience with our services and secondly to share with you, CQC and social services the results of our investigation. I wish to do same here again, to say sorry to you. Whether your concerns were true or not, we are providing services and feedback like this helps us to improve.
However, I wish to state that, evidence abound to the effect that you were engaged positively each time you visited the home. You were offered series of meetings but you declined all. You never brought any issues to our attention to address either than to CQC, Social Services and Social Media. You never raised any concerns of staff being rude even to CQC. Notwithstanding, when we received your complaints from these bodies we acted and accepted the areas that we had shortcomings.
