This care home and the staff who work there are exceptional. In an age where there is so much negativity around Adult Social Care, standards of care in care homes, and worries about such services, there are only good things to say about St Joseph's.
The kindness, compassion and genuine dignity that is afforded to residents and their families, many of whom are in their final days of life, is outstanding.
Every member of staff knows you by name and acts with respect and pride for all those in their care.

I cannot say enough good things about everyone at St Joseph's, and from the day that our Mum moved in, to the time of her death, she was treated with genuine affection and care by all who work there.

Thank you for your kind, lovely words. It was a pleasure and a privilege to care for your mother during her time at St Joseph's. I will ensure that your message is passed on to all who cared for her, as I know this will mean a great deal to them.

My family was very distressed by the severe decline of our dad in the ten days he was at St Joseph's for respite care, which included the loss of over eleven percent of his body weight and severe dehydration.
Without going into detail he deteriorated physically, emotionally, and cognitively and by the time he returned home he was very frail.
Dad suffers from Alzheimer's and the change of 'routine' clearly created challenges at St Joseph's. But such challenges must be typical in a care home setting that offers dementia care?
We were so disappointed, having hoped that respite here would have been a positive experience.
We did, on a more positive note, meet the staff who were clearly caring and concerned for Dad.
Finally, Dad's wedding ring, which to our knowledge has never been off his finger, disappeared during his stay.

We have notified the Manager of our specific concerns.

Both my mum and my dad consecutively received care at the Convent over a period of eight years. The care throughout was of the highest quality - warm, compassionate, attending to the slightest details, and completely trustworthy in terms of the support for my parents' physical and mental well-being. I visited daily over that period and was always warmly welcomed and supported. During the lockdowns, prior to my mum's death, we worked collaboratively and creatively to find the best way to maintain contact, with safety and wellbeing always being the primary consideration. The staff became friends and were always willing to discuss matters and consider possible changes. I will forever be grateful to everyone at the Convent for the care they gave, and for the love they showed.

Thank you for your lovely words, it was a privilege and a pleasure to care for both your parents during the time that they spent with us. I will ensure that the team read your comments and I know it will bring them great joy and a sense of achievement, knowing that you were happy with the care and support that they gave to your parents and yourself.

Dad was a resident at St Joseph’s for several years and was looked after extremely well. His room was lovely, and his personal care good. He was encouraged to join in lots of different activities, and the garden is wonderful for sitting out in the summer. The best thing about St Joseph’s, without a doubt, is the people who work there. They always have time to say hello and are cheerful and caring. The receptionist is really friendly and knows everyone. When Dad needed full nursing care, the transition was seamless, and he was looked after with dignity right to the end.

Well, all I can say is what an excellent receptionist you have, always knew who I was, I can not praise this person enough. Even a certain nurse, on days she was extra special to me and my mom, care was above and beyond. Very upset when she had to ring me with sad news, mom loved her so much and so did I. Care staff were amazing too, when I was sitting there at night, they couldn't do enough for me especially a certain person who made my mom her marmalade on toast, she thought she was wonderful. All I can say is I hope I get this care when my time comes, excellent people. Thank you so much for all you did for mom and us as a family. Kind regards.

The care at St Joseph’s is just unique. So much love and compassion shown. My mum was there for seven days only for palliative care. My mum received more care, love and compassion from any medical care in those seven days than she did in the whole year of being in one hospital or another. I know this is something my family will never forget - how St Joseph’s staff looked after my mum and us the family on my mum's last days. The place is beautiful but does require renovation on which I know is being done. If money is spent on the home to match the staffs care they give, then this is definitely going to be the best place to put your elderly relatives in Staffordshire. Thank you to the staff that looked after my mum and us, we are truly grateful.

My mother lived at St Joseph's for only 2 months, before she passed away. The care and every aspect of St Joseph's were second to none. We the family all were made to feel we were part of the St Joseph's family. The passing of our mum was made so much easier by the attention to detail and everything was done to make mum's passing as peaceful as possible. We now shed happy tears of our mum's passing thanks to St Joseph's.

The moment I walked into St. Josephs, the atmosphere was noticeably friendly, and during my initial tour-enhanced by the level of care that was mentioned, I chose it (my 6th home visited). My husband's care was even better than I expected. Nurses were experts in the care he needed. The carers gave him sincere love and attention. The food was excellent and the cleanliness was very good. Some of the facilities do need updating but that does not take away the perfect choice I made.

My wife has been in care for the last two years and now feels as if she is at home. I am impressed with the level of care that she receives. Nothing seems too much trouble. All levels of staff are respectful, helpful and friendly to the residents and to their visitors. The grand scale of the building gives an air of opulence and security. The well-kept gardens provide peace and tranquillity when weather permits. I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursing home to anyone who asks me.

My mother came into St Joseph's after having had a stroke. It had left her unable to do very little for herself. She had been in hospital for 11 weeks and then an assessment home for another 5. She was tired by the time she got here. Staff have been so wonderful with her. They treat her as they would their families. They have supported us as a family wonderfully. We know she hasn't long left but they are ensuring she finished her life in as dignified way as possible.

My father spent almost five months at St Joseph’s and the care was exceptional. The staff were professional, understanding and compassionate. My father was extremely happy there and built up a rapport with the staff. He enjoyed their company and the staff enjoyed his company.
When I visited I felt that I had become part of this special family. Our family have been very privileged to have been part St Joseph’s.

My father's last few months were spent with dignity, compassion and joy and I shall always be truly grateful.

Having volunteered at the home for the Christmas Fayre, I was thoroughly impressed by the level of dignity shown to residents. Staff were trying to meet everyone's needs as quickly and promptly as they could and showed their dedication to their work. The atmosphere was amazing, all staff (including management), residents, relatives and even relatives of previous residents, all showed up to show their support for the home. The food provided for many people at that time was great. Brilliant.
