Mum is on end of life care, and the home and its staff have been really supportive and helpful at this difficult time. Nothing has been too much trouble, and the staff have been on hand to assist whenever a request has been made. Lateral flow tests have been done every time a family member has been to visit, and drinks and biscuits offered every time we have visited. Staff have checked on us every time we have been in Mums room at regular intervals and updated on Mums conditions have been professionally related over the phone when we have rung up.

My mum spent her last months at Tall Oaks during the pandemic, and we were unable to see her until the last few days of her life. Despite this difficult situation, Mum received such kindness, care and consideration from all the staff that she remained happy and contented for most of her days. We cannot sufficiently express our gratitude to all at Tall Oaks, who managed in the most terrible situation to make Mum feel as though she had come home. She loved them all, and we suspect that they loved her too.

My mum has been a resident at Tall Oakes now for well over a year, well nearly 2-years, and although as she is bed-bound, I have not been able to actually visit for nearly 12-months due to Covid. I have always felt assured that she, and her cuddly companion, have been looked after and cared for throughout! I don’t pester ringing every week etc, as I know they would be straight on the phone if I was needed! She is quite a character is my mum, and I know the staff have a giggle with her and look after her companion too! I’m so pleased we found Tall Oakes at the hour of need! And can’t wait to start my weekly visits soon again! Staff are friendly, chatty, happy and make the effort to ensure all are happy! The manager is totally approachable and very personable and friendly, and long may the high standards continue! Thanks for all you do and have done with my mum.

My mum has had a hard time in a previous home, but luckily, we managed to get her moved to Tall Oaks. Since then, she has flourished, and even with Alzheimer’s and dementia, she loves it. She never used to laugh on the phone, but now she’s always cheerful and tells us how nice everyone is.
She gained 7kg in 3 weeks and is now not needing to have supplement drinks to help with her weight.
I cannot stress how well she is doing, and the support of the home staff is second to none. Catering for mums needs is their top priority and has made us all feel better at this troubling time when we can’t visit.

Well done, Tall Oaks, you’re doing a great job with the care that you provide, and I for one, applaud you for this.

Just felt compelled to give a short and honest review of my experience with Tall Oaks.
My mum was fist assessed at Tall Oaks in February 2020, but we were unable to place her there at that time.
After a lot of pestering, and I will say, a great deal of support from people in social services, we were able to get Mum moved.
She moved in January 2021, and since being under their care, she has transformed from a withdrawn even at times, frightened woman, into one who seems to be enjoying the company and care of all the people and staff at Tall Oaks, continually saying to us how nice and friendly everybody is.
As for the home and its care team and management team, I applaud you, it has been a very tough year for all of us but personally, over the last 12-months, we have had to deal with the effect of putting mum into care then not being able to visit, and having little or no information of how mum was doing at her previous home.

This, thankfully, is not the case at Tall Oaks!

My mum was a resident at Tall Oaks for 18-months until she passed away in September 2020. She has Alzheimer's disease. Not being able to visit Mum this year because of Covid was very distressing and difficult, but I know she was in good hands. I cannot fault the care of the staff. They were always kind, loving and supportive. I was able to sit with Mum during her last few days and the staff were simply amazing. I felt they really 'loved' my mum. I can't thank them enough. I would definitely recommend Tall Oaks to others. On a slightly negative note, during her time there, there were times when she wasn't wearing clothes that belonged to her, even though I had named everything. I know in the grand scheme of things this is not important, but it would have been to my mum. She was always so smart and took pride in her appearance - obviously, Mum was unaware, but it did upset me a little.

My mum was a resident for 3 years until she passed away in December 2017. The care mum received by all of the staff from nursing staff, carers, kitchen staff and cleaners was outstanding from beginning to end. I cannot praise the whole team highly enough.
Living overseas, I was unable to be there at Mum's passing but took great comfort in the care mum was afforded during her final 7 days when end of life was imminent.

Communication was thorough and compassionate. Other family members also informed me of the great dignity and care given to Mum ensuring a peaceful passing. I was informed immediately of Mum's passing and given genuine heartfelt condolences. I was also given further assistance with the necessary paperwork that was required. Upon returning to the UK to organise Mum's funeral I met with the staff several times and was met with much sympathy and kind words for Mum. From this I took great comfort. For me, the whole team at Tall Oaks operate a very professionally run care home.

Since mum arrived at Tall Oaks, it hasn't been easy some days, making the choice of mum being in a care home was the hardest decision but the right one for mum. The staff are brilliant with my mum, even when she's having her 'down' days. The staff are so patient with her and have been very supportive with myself also. I can't fault these lovely people, I would definitely recommend the home. Mum is settling in now a lot better, it did take a while but that is to be expected. Keep up the good work guys.

On the whole I am very happy with the care my mother receives. She can sometimes be difficult especially when being urged to get up but most staff cope well with this.
The housekeeping staff keep her room and clothes very clean. Meals are varied and tasty. I am confident that she receives the correct medication at the right times.

Staff are always friendly and helpful whenever I have to ring up. I do have a couple of concerns but will discuss these with the manger in private sometime in the near future. I would like to thank the staff for their hard work.

Chair that my mum sits on is an old dralon chair, from time to time it becomes very smelly in my family opinions this needs replacing. In addition to this my mums hands and finger nails are constantly dirty, we tell the staff on regular occasions but still after three years they are still smelly and dirty,

Buster is a very much loved and well-known character at Tall Oaks to all residents and families. He is part of our family here. You may see Buster moving around the home, greeting families at reception or lying in the lounge with residents.

Pet therapy in care homes can increase social interaction, not just with the animals but also between other residents. It gives residents something to look forward to, comment on and discuss together in a way that often helps to break down barriers.

Interacting with pet animals can unlock hidden memories of cats, dogs and other creatures that may have been part of the lives of elderly residents in the past. Even when these former encounters can’t be put into words, their joy can often be seen in participants’ faces.

I have worked in care for an incredible 39 years, beginning my journey as a Care Assistant. Caring for others has always been at the heart of what I do, and it continues to be a role that brings me pride and purpose every single day.

I have been part of the Careconcepts care home family for 11½ years, and during that time I have seen the home grow into a warm, welcoming place where residents and staff feel valued and supported.

What I love most about being a Care Home Manager is the daily interaction with our residents and team. Spending time with people, listening, supporting, and ensuring we deliver high-quality care in a truly homely environment is what makes each day rewarding.

One of the achievements I am most proud of is becoming a Care Home Manager at just 27 years old, a milestone that reflects my long-standing commitment to care and professional development.

What excites me most about managing Tall Oaks is getting to know our residents, relatives, and team, and building strong, trusted relationships that help everyone feel safe, happy, and at home.
