Quinton House is a clean, comfortable, cosy and friendly carehome with lovely gardens. The food seems good and the staff are kind, efficient, thoughtful and genuinely caring.
My sister who has Alzheimer's has been in residence there for over two years.
My one concern was possibly at the beginning
of her dementure when she may have needed more physio help to keep her legs strong and maybe I should have done something about that myself. I can see why this would not be a priority or be encouraged by any carehome as it might be trickier for the staff to stop her from falling etc.
Having said this, she is very well looked after and now seems content. The staff are really lovely with her and treat her respectfully.
I would thouroughly recommend Quinton House.

The care given to my aunt gives us piece of mind as we cannot be with her as often as we would like due to work and family commitments. She is treated with warmth and affection. She is warm and fed well. Her health too is monitored. The home has a friendly feel with staff always being attentive. Cups
of tea and smiles always on hand for the residents and their visitors alike.

My father moved into Quinton House in September last year, this was a very difficult time for us as a family, as Dad, understandably, was very reluctant to do this. Amazingly he settled in immediately, suddenly getting the nursing care he needed. The management team, nurses and carers, in fact everyone
who works at Quinton House all played their part in making him feel, welcome and cared for. He always has someone to talk to and enjoys the many activities and events that take place. As a family we are always made to feel welcome whenever we visit Dad, and know everyone on first name terms. We are very impressed with the level of care he receives and are kept well informed at all times. Dad definitely sees Quinton House as his new home and continually tells us how wonderful it is and everyone that works there. As a family this gives us great peace of mind, and have huge appreciation for fantastic care he receives.

My wife has been a resident at Quinton House for the past 18 months. When she has had a fall the staff have been brilliant at dealing with the matter and contacting the relevant people as quickly as possible and making sure my wife has the best care possible. I take my wife out twice a week and when
we return the staff are always very welcoming and make my wife feel safe and happy to be there. The staff always welcome us back with a cuppa and a slice of cake which is lovely.

Mum has been at Quinton for 18 months now as a dementia sufferer. We have found Quinton staff brilliant - very engaging with mum . They are attentive and also act on any concerns they have with her well being. She is always clean and appears well cared for. They often pre empt any concerns we have regarding
mum and her mental health and have contacted the relevant professionals to assist .

My husband moved into Quinton Gardens quite recently. He had been in hospital for many months with advanced dementia. I have been very impressed with the care and attention given to planning his transition to the nursing home and I am relieved that this has gone so smoothly. The staff have all been
very helpful and I feel my husband has been receiving excellent, personalised care. He has a spacious and clean room with a lovely view in Lavender unit. I always feel welcome to visit and look forward to taking advantage of the wonderful garden space of Quinton House for walks in the better weather.

We appreciate Mum's advanced dementia is difficult to manage and we remain amazed at the patience and resilience of the staff in managing her and all the Daisy Ward residents. Mum has a lovely room, and we note the persistence of the staff in managing nutritional intake, which is challenging for Mum.
Our visits rarely coincide with activities so we cannot comment on those, but note that auxiliary bills etc. are now arriving regularly now records have been updated.
Reply from Katie Fletcher, Senior Administrator at Quinton House and Gardens Thank you for your thoughtful review. We truly appreciate your kind words about our staff's patience and resilience. It's lovely to hear that your mum is comfortable in her room and that our team's efforts with her nutrition are recognised. We're also glad the updates to records have improved communication around billing.

Quinton House has been my husband's home for 18 months. He has generally been well cared for and his needs met. He has always complained about the food and eats very little of what is offered. He was not in a good physical condition when he arrived there but this has improved due to the care offered.
Reply from Katie Fletcher, Admin/ Accounts at Quinton House and Gardens Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear your husband's condition has improved with the care provided. We appreciate your honesty and will take note of the concerns about the food to see how we can continue to improve.

From the first time of coming into Quinton House Nursing Home I got a feeling of relief, the management and staff were very kind and caring but also very professional and my husband relaxed straight away. They are all very well-trained and treated him with care and dignity. My husband is very happy
there and could not be living in a better place. They have plenty of activities and are kept busy and stimulated and also have a lovely garden to go in. An excellent nursing home. I am so pleased.

I am very pleased and grateful with the quality of care that my husband is receiving in Quinton House Nursing Home. The level of his dementia is such that he cannot take part in the activities but there is something every day to interest and involve the residents. Even so, staff stop to talk to him
and show care and consideration for him and for other residents. The carers are always cheerful and approachable and make very good cups of tea!

I am confident my relative's needs are met.
Updates regarding behaviours, health needs and general information are offered verbally and via newsletters. The care is person centered.

I have three years experience of the care home and in that time there has been some consistency of management and

staff which is reassuring.

Reviews happen in a timely way and recommendations are actioned promptly.

I am unable to visit my friend regularly now so it is difficult to complete the ratings below but this review gives me no option.
My friend seems quite happy in the home and has relaxed relationships with the staff.
However, her mobility has deteriorated significantly lsince she now has to spend
all her days in the lounge for safety reasons. I'm not sure how much she hears or sees because she doesn't wear her hearing aids or spectacles, which she needs coaxing to do.

My mother has been at Quinton House for 7 months now. She has advanced dementia and has complex needs. I cannot fault the care she receives. Quinton House exceeds my expectations. The staff go the extra mile to make it a nurturing and homely environment, with plenty of appropriate and relevant activities
to enjoy. She is always warm, clean and smiling whenever I go to see her. Staff are brilliant with me and Mum's young Grandchildren (aged 3 and 1) when we visit. I have complete peace of mind that Mum is safe, incredibly well cared for, and has plenty of added value to her life, despite all of the challenges she faces due to her dementia. I cannot thank the staff enough for what they have done for Mum and my family.

My friend has been in Quinton House for almost 18 months. The care received has been marvellous and whilst obviously suffering with memory issues her overall health has improved. This is down to the care and dedication of the whole team at Quinton. She is so well looked after by the staff in every way
and when visiting it is clear to see that the whole staff treat her wonderfully well and also that she has a great connection with them.
Prior to Quinton House my friend was not safe at home but now we have peace of mind that she is safe and well.
The activities are very well organised so as to keep the residents occupied and there are always new things to stimulate them.
The garden is a wonderful place where you can walk round and enjoy the view and again new projects involving the residents are always taking place.
I would like to congratulate the whole team for their care and hard work and would recommend Quinton House Nursing Home to anyone.

We have been really happy with the care provided to date. My husband had been very unwell prior to moving to Quinton House. He had been physically unwell and his dementia was very unstable. Whilst it did take a while for him to settle, he now appears to be so much more content and we are even seeing
signs of his old self now, funny and just more relaxed.
The staff have supported him with getting back on his feet and he is always immaculately clean and well groomed.
There are a handful of exceptional staff that appear to go above and beyond. They give him time, talk to him, laugh with him and have really taken the time to get to know him. This has meant a lot to us as a family at such a heartbreaking time.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.656)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.656) out of 10 for Quinton House and Gardens is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.656 for Quinton House and Gardens is calculated as follows: ( (233 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (19 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 320 Ratings = 4.656
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Quinton House and Gardens is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I’m Shirley Beasley, Registered Nurse and the Home Manager of Quinton House & Quinton Gardens Nursing Home.

I have been a qualified nurse for 46 years with a varied career in Nursing. I started working on a children’s ward in 1977 then working on general wards from 1981. In 2002 I went to work in the operating theatres in Worcester, where I gained an ENB qualification in anaesthetics and recovery. I then worked in theatres for 18 years gaining promotion to anaesthetic/recovery sister, deputy manager and then 8 years as Manager at the Winfield Gloucester. In this time my father was diagnosed with vascular dementia, and I eventually gave up my career as Theatre manager to help look after my father. Sadly after 2 years we were unable to nurse him at home and as a family we made the hard decision he need to be cared for in a care home. During this time, I gained the role of clinical lead at a woman’s sexual health clinic in Edgbaston. My dad passed away in June 2019 and it was after much thought and deliberation I made the decision to change my career path and looked for an opportunity to work in a care home in the field of dementia.

I started working in a care home as a registered nurse in February 2020. Then in March, we went into lockdown and this was a baptism of fire. Seeing how Covid 19 affected the elderly and losing residents was devastating. I gained promotion within 12 months to senior nurse then soon after gained promotion again to clinical lead. I found I had great passion working within the dementia unit and being able to empathise with relatives who were making the difficult decision of having to put their loved ones in care. In February 2022 I was made head of care which I helped and supported the manager and deputy manager.

In November 2022 I was promoted again to peripatetic deputy manager and I was a relief deputy manager working in different homes when they needed support.

In July 2023 I was successful in joining the team at Quinton House as Deputy manager/clinical lead, then promoted to Home Manager in January 2024.

I hope my passion for working and caring for the elderly will enhance the team even further to make Quinton a happy and successful home.

Job Title: Deputy Manager - Mental Health Lead Joined: 2021

My name is Seth Copeland, and I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse with 10 years UK experience.

I previously worked as a financial planning manager and my journey to being a nurse began when I lost a family member to mental health. As a family, we felt due to lack of knowledge in understanding of the condition and its presentation symptoms, as well as the poor service we received from the mental health team led to the unfortunate. I felt the calling to become a nurse, a carer, a person who would do his best to understand and make a difference to others. My mindset was that if I just help one family, I would be pleased.

With my journey so far as a nurse, I worked within the mental health acute units as community mental health nurse CPN within the NHS as a band 6 nurse. I also worked within the community memory team in the NHS which has helped me to accumulate the knowledge and understanding of service users and how to promote quality of care with empathy, compassion and person-centred care, and working collaboratively with families to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the mental health conditions. Specialising in dementia care needs has led me to my present position.

Working in the private sector was very different to the NHS and I found it difficult until I started at Quinton House. Here, I felt not only were there systems and structures in place but also the team ethic and the genuineness, empathy, and compassion of the staff care delivery. I realised we share the same values hence I believed I was in the right place to work with a passion like many others here.

Over the last year, I have experienced the level of care delivered and the transformation that has been made in most of our service users. The commitment to community development among the families, carers, and external agencies has helped to create a working ‘’home from home’’ environment that helps to promotes quality of care delivery to our residents and this can be referenced on carehome.co.uk
