My aunt has been a resident for over five years and I have been extremely happy with the care she has received. The home has very high standards in care, support, making a resident comfortable and being able to deal with their every need, whether it be cutting their food up or controlling a dementia
resident in a calm and comforting way. I would recommend this home to everyone.

My wife has been a resident at Quinton house for around 18 months. During this time the staff have been exceptional in their care and kindness. My wife suffers from severe dementia and is unable to speak, but they always treat her with dignity and care, explaining what they are doing at all times. Any
requests that the family have made are followed by the staff. Sadly she is not well enough to take part in activities.

We moved our Mum to Quinton Gardens 18 months ago when she had been asked to leave another home (specialist supposedly). They said they couldn't deal with Mum. Since coming here, we have felt fully supported as a family. Mum is treated with dignity and real care, her behaviour has changed much for the
better and she appears very happy. The communication is very good and carers are wonderful. Best move we ever made. Thoroughly recommend.

Mum has been in your care for over eighteen months and in all that time her care has been more than I could have wished for. She is shown understanding and compassion by all members of your wonderful team. She has been treated with the dignity and respect that she deserves. Whenever I have visited,
I have found her dressed in fresh clean garments, her hair, nails, skin pampered as if she is able to do it herself. Your home is kept the way she would have been proud to show her friends and family if they had visited her in her own house. My Uncle visited and was surprised to find that I was not exaggerating, but as I was so used to the high standards I was struck by his amazement and comment 'There was no smell of wee'!
Needless to say, your home is the home I am happy to recommend and I am so glad that I listened to my Son who said I should take a look. Thank you, to the wonderful team.

There isn't a great deal to say about my husband's stay in Quinton Nursing Home. His behaviour was a little challenging for the first few weeks but it was handled very well. The nurses and carers were excellent and nothing was too much trouble, and when he was dying, they couldn't have been more caring
and kind to both my husband and my family. I will certainly recommend Quinton House to anyone who asks.

Our father has been in Quinton House Care Home for about eight years. We have seen many changes in the development of the home and it has been lovely that he is there. It is managed with vision and care for the residents and we are kept regularly updated.
There are different events and activities,
which is good to see on the display boards and the television screen. Our father is happy; we are happy and thank you to all the staff.

From the moment I walked into Quinton House I knew this was the home for my Mum. We were delighted when the owner called and was told we had a place. We have not been disappointed. They have looked after Mum's need with great compassion and professionalism. They are highly regarded by the Doctor to
the home. It is always fully staffed. My Mum could not be in a better place. All the staff take the time to get to know the patients including the owner and family.

My 97 year old mother came to Quinton Gardens mid-August, straight from a six week stay in hospital where she rapidly deteriorated. With dementia, mobility and feeding issues, she needed 24/7 care, which we have been lucky enough to find here. The staff are incredibly caring and patient: under their
care she has begun to settle in, to communicate again and to try to participate in the many activities on offer. She is starting to smile again and though not back in her own home, seems more settled and cheerful than she has been for a very long time. She recently celebrated her 97th birthday, in honour of which, a beautiful birthday cake, complete with candles, was provided. She enjoyed being the centre of attention and we are very grateful to Quinto Gardens for improving the quality of care she now receives. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.656)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.656) out of 10 for Quinton House and Gardens is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.656 for Quinton House and Gardens is calculated as follows: ( (233 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (19 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 320 Ratings = 4.656
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Quinton House and Gardens is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Shirley Beasley

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

I’m Shirley Beasley, Registered Nurse and the Home Manager of Quinton House & Quinton Gardens Nursing Home.

I have been a qualified nurse for 46 years with a varied career in Nursing. I started working on a children’s ward in 1977 then working on general wards from 1981. In 2002 I went to work in the operating theatres in Worcester, where I gained an ENB qualification in anaesthetics and recovery. I then worked in theatres for 18 years gaining promotion to anaesthetic/recovery sister, deputy manager and then 8 years as Manager at the Winfield Gloucester. In this time my father was diagnosed with vascular dementia, and I eventually gave up my career as Theatre manager to help look after my father. Sadly after 2 years we were unable to nurse him at home and as a family we made the hard decision he need to be cared for in a care home. During this time, I gained the role of clinical lead at a woman’s sexual health clinic in Edgbaston. My dad passed away in June 2019 and it was after much thought and deliberation I made the decision to change my career path and looked for an opportunity to work in a care home in the field of dementia.

I started working in a care home as a registered nurse in February 2020. Then in March, we went into lockdown and this was a baptism of fire. Seeing how Covid 19 affected the elderly and losing residents was devastating. I gained promotion within 12 months to senior nurse then soon after gained promotion again to clinical lead. I found I had great passion working within the dementia unit and being able to empathise with relatives who were making the difficult decision of having to put their loved ones in care. In February 2022 I was made head of care which I helped and supported the manager and deputy manager.

In November 2022 I was promoted again to peripatetic deputy manager and I was a relief deputy manager working in different homes when they needed support.

In July 2023 I was successful in joining the team at Quinton House as Deputy manager/clinical lead, then promoted to Home Manager in January 2024.

I hope my passion for working and caring for the elderly will enhance the team even further to make Quinton a happy and successful home.

Seth Copeland

Job Title: Deputy Manager - Mental Health Lead Joined: 2021

My name is Seth Copeland, and I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse with 10 years UK experience.

I previously worked as a financial planning manager and my journey to being a nurse began when I lost a family member to mental health. As a family, we felt due to lack of knowledge in understanding of the condition and its presentation symptoms, as well as the poor service we received from the mental health team led to the unfortunate. I felt the calling to become a nurse, a carer, a person who would do his best to understand and make a difference to others. My mindset was that if I just help one family, I would be pleased.

With my journey so far as a nurse, I worked within the mental health acute units as community mental health nurse CPN within the NHS as a band 6 nurse. I also worked within the community memory team in the NHS which has helped me to accumulate the knowledge and understanding of service users and how to promote quality of care with empathy, compassion and person-centred care, and working collaboratively with families to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the mental health conditions. Specialising in dementia care needs has led me to my present position.

Working in the private sector was very different to the NHS and I found it difficult until I started at Quinton House. Here, I felt not only were there systems and structures in place but also the team ethic and the genuineness, empathy, and compassion of the staff care delivery. I realised we share the same values hence I believed I was in the right place to work with a passion like many others here.

Over the last year, I have experienced the level of care delivered and the transformation that has been made in most of our service users. The commitment to community development among the families, carers, and external agencies has helped to create a working ‘’home from home’’ environment that helps to promotes quality of care delivery to our residents and this can be referenced on carehome.co.uk
