Cedar Court Nursing Home specialises in the care of the frail and elderly. The home provides nurture in a relaxed, friendly environment and ensures that residents maintain freedom and lifestyle of choice while receiving the support that is appropriate to the resident's needs.

The home has been renovated and refurbished to a high standard. Its internal accommodation is light, bright and comfortable, while outside there is a garden with a pond, greenhouse, raised flower beds and summer house for residents to enjoy. The home occupies a particularly enviable location in the rolling South Derbyshire countryside; throughout the year there are glorious views of the surrounding parkland, countryside and mature woodland.

Hard to write a review at the moment, as things seem to be changing, for the better. Mum has special dietry needs that is now being sorted. Her clothes forever go missing but that is now being looked at.

Workers I come into contact with are always pleasant and polite. Some like to have a little chat. My grandma's care has not been consistent, and neglected at times. Hopefully this now improves. Patients who are unable to communicate or are not mobile, should not be forgotten about or left longer than
necessary for personal care or repositioning.

Great care home, feel my nan is looked after fairly well. Sometimes no staff around in the day room, however majority of staff are friendly, easy to speak to, and treat us all like family. Always feel welcome when visiting. One staff member in particular always goes out of her way to speak to us on
every visit, whether it's a quick hello, or a general chat. Only downside is when arriving (especially at weekends) when nobody is on reception, the buzzer doesn't seem to attract attention to staff, and therefore, can be waiting up to 15 mins to be let in to see our relatives. Overall though, it's a good care home and I would recommend.
Reply from Vicki Weller, Managing Director at Cedar Court Nursing HomeThank you for your kind comments about the home being great. We will look into the points you raise about staffing in the lounges and reception cover at weekends, I'm sorry you have had to wait and we will address this.

Generally good care and food is good. The manager is very helpful, as are both the receptionists. Regularly do activities with the residents like bingo, dominoes and painting sometimes. Mum likes the exercises which one staff member in particular does a couple of times a week.

I can’t thank the staff enough for looking after my husband. The care they gave him was first class, they made all the family welcome and we were able to come and go as we pleased and I could return home knowing he was being well cared for. I would definitely recommend Cedar Court. I’d like to give
a big thank you to the manager and her team from all the family.

The manager is clearly dedicated and very approachable. Her team of carers and nurses are very caring and efficient. The consistent provision of permanent staff (non-agency) helps maintain standards. I have every confidence in the good care; my wife is always clean, dressed and kept comfortable throughout

Dad was admitted initially for emergency respite. It was immediately apparent that the quality of care, the environment and thoughtfulness of the staff were exactly what he needed to continue with a safe, healthy and dignified life. As a family, we have every confidence in the quality of care he is
receiving and we praise the hardworking staff.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.058)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.058) out of 10 for Cedar Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.258 for Cedar Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (63 Goods x 4) + (23 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 151 Ratings = 4.258
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Court Nursing Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

I started off my career in the care industry as a domiciliary care worker almost 20 years ago, before changing to work in residential care. This is where I found my passion for working with people with mental health difficulties and dementia. I have worked my way from care assistant to registered manager. I feel a sense of pride when I have helped someone achieve something, no matter how big or small this may be. The smile on residents' faces means so much. I have faced many challenges throughout my career, but have always battled through to achieve the best outcomes for people, both staff and residents. I hope to inspire my staff to aim high and develop their career in the same way that I have. This is more than just a job to me.

We are more than a Nursing Home; we are a family unit. I have an amazing team to support me, and together we can make such a difference to people’s lives.
