Compassionate, thoughtful, comforting and respectful are just some of the words that describe the wonderful care our mum receives at Eckington Court. At the centre of all their activities and care are the residents, and this was very evident when staff went out of their way to help our family celebrate
our mum's 100th Birthday; every detail had been thought of. The personal and emotional support given to our mum is excellent, and it is a great comfort to know our mum is in very safe hands.

I have only praise for the staff at Eckington Court. They are extremely caring and provide a lovely atmosphere. When Mum had the COVID-19 virus they kept us informed of her condition and, at one stage, enabled two of my sisters to visit her because her condition was causing concern. We are always made
welcome when we are able to visit and we know Mum is in a safe and caring "home".

I would recommend this care home to everyone I know. The carers are very kind and thoughtful, they treat the patients like one of the family. The home is very clean and comfortable. The food is out of this world.

This care home is like a five-star hotel. The residents are treated like royalty. The food is out of this world, nothing is too much trouble for them. Cleanliness is their priority. If they want changing there's not much waiting, they get to them as soon as possible.

When my wife and I visit, we are always impressed by Eckington Court nursing home. It is clean, modern and reasonably furnished. The most notable impression was there was no pervading smell. The care staff are friendly and make visitors feel welcome. The administration staff have been very helpful with
any problems of a minor nature, that we have encountered. It might not be their real home but the elderly are safe and sound.

My mother-in-law is being well looked after. She is joining in activities that she wouldn't even try or go to when she lived alone. We can rest easy knowing she is safe in a clean friendly environment. I will recommend to anyone worrying about putting a relative in here to do so without hesitation.
The staff can't do enough for the residents.

My mum was a resident here from April 2018 - August 2019. This became her home and the staff and manager make huge efforts to make the environment homely, friendly and welcoming. The staff are always polite, respectful and welcoming with offers of tea and a chat. We regard the care staff as our friends
and mum certainly did.
It helped that the staff are drawn from the local community and some are known to our family from all the years mum was resident in the town.
Mum and the other residents are extremely well cared for and I can vouch for these standards as a former nurse myself.
We are forever grateful for the care and compassion shown to our mum.

This relates to my experience from December 2018 to date. All the staff that I come into contact with when I visit have been most polite, helpful, professional, in fact very good. It takes a great deal of patience to answer questions that may not have an answer but still keep the patient happy and well.
They do a very difficult job in sometimes demanding situations.

Carers are approachable and knowledgable. We have been kept informed of mum's health and wellbeing. Nurses are friendly and have made sure mum is having the care she needs to keep her comfortable and pain-free. Carers interaction with residents is fun and happy although mum is in bed 24 hours her care
has not suffered. She is clean and assisted well with food and fluids. Thank you.

Management dealt with my concerns about my mother's behaviour in a knowledgable and professional way, making me feel confident they understood and would be able to deal with her problems quickly and efficiently.
All staff are caring and deal with my mother in an appropriate manner.
Extremely grateful

Mum was moved to the care home for nursing care after being discharged from hospital following a very severe stroke. Mum was only here for a total of three weeks, during this time she was very confused and agitated. Mum was well looked after and encouraged to take her medication. The home is very clean
and tidy, the staff were lovely, nothing seemed too much trouble. Very sadly Mum passed away not long after being admitted. Mum was very poorly with multiple serious health issues.

My mum was given a place just over 2 years ago. It was very difficult but the manager knew this and offered her a place and said we will look after her.
She is very well cared for, well fed and the carers really love my mum, you can see it. They also welcome my dad who visits my mother daily, knowing
this is a great comfort as my dad is lonely without mum, but it's like his second home.

Since my initial enquiry with the manager, I have not been disappointed with the ongoing communication, I feel I can address any issue and they will go out of their way to rectify it or find a solution straight away, they make you feel confident and comfortable to discuss anything, a rare quality in
a care establishment.
I can not praise the staff highly enough, they are consistently kind, friendly and respectful with my mother, they understand her personality and quirks.
Our family live in Sweden, Switzerland, Canada and Ireland, so it is important for them to be able to visit at short notice and the staff are very accommodating with this.
A great effort is put into making the home at the front and the gardens a pleasant place to visit and chat and it is always beautifully kept, I have seen the management staff at the weekend tending the front to make it a welcoming environment for residents and visitors putting that extra effort into keeping the highest standards possible .

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.845)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.845) out of 10 for Eckington Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.245 for Eckington Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.245
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Eckington Court Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.8
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
