Review from Andy D (Son of Resident) published on 13 October 2020 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My father has been in Haddon House for four years now. He has been well cared for throughout and the staff now know his moods and how to manage them well. I have always been informed of any changes to his condition quickly. The last six months have been extremely difficult and I appreciate enormously all that has been done for my Dad.

Mother-in-law is suffering from dementia and she is getting all the help and assistance which is needed. Staff are all very helpful and friendly and are treating the residents with respect. During the pandemic the care home did very well and safeguarded the residents.

I am very happy with the care provided.
The staff are friendly and helpful and listen to any concerns that I may have.
We have 'visitors' meetings' usually on a monthly basis and, where possible, the necessary action is taken.

My wife is happy and contented and I cannot ask for more under the circumstances.

Needs reorganising. Little stimulation for residents who would be able to take advantage of this. Too much time and money spent on Halloween (really a non-event). My husband is a coeliac and has a hiatus hernia. Despite providing lists of what he can and can't eat, he is still given food which causes him stomach pain. Relevant medicine is only given when asked for or at the nurses' discretion - this medicine is free on the NHS. Previously given four times a day.

I would recommend Haddon House to anybody, the staff are friendly and make you welcome. My dad was there for 8 months and was well cared for, the place is clean and when you walk in there is no smell like some homes I looked at.

It's a very much a home from home place, I will miss seeing the people there and I can't thank them enough.

I spent two hours at the care home and was thoroughly impressed with all and who I saw. I was made to feel welcome by all the staff: who during my stay did all that the residents needed without fuss and a good deal of love.

All the residents were happy and all seemed to have a good relationship with the numerous staff and yet had their own space and needs respected. Extremely well done.

Haddon House has always provided outstanding care for mum. They genuinely seem to love her warmly as well as providing for her everyday needs. As a dementia sufferer mum is potentially very vulnerable. I have never had the slightest concern about her care and well being because of this though. I know other care homes through dad and other relatives and this makes me realise how excellent Haddon House care has been.
