My mum came to Haddon House after a long journey of disappointments, where care homes were unable to deal with the behaviours Mum had developed as a result of her Alzheimer's. The transition to yet another home was done with care and consideration to both of us. Mum has been at Haddon House for nearly 3 yrs now, she is settled and so am I. So often the anxieties of family members are dismissed, not in this case, they put me at ease and assured me Mum would not be asked to leave this home. All the staff show a good understanding of dementia and how to allow residents to live their best life. The staff have been amazing with Mum, sometimes in challenging circumstances. The manager shows so much empathy towards the residents and their family members. I would like to thank them all for all they have done and continue to do for Mum.

My care journey began with a genuine desire to support others and make a positive difference, something I remain very passionate about today. Over the years, I’ve gained experience in complex care environments, supporting individuals with a wide range of needs while always keeping a person-centred approach. This has helped me build strong skills in communication, teamwork, and adaptability, and I’m committed to providing compassionate, respectful, and high-quality care to both residents and their families.
I’ve always wanted to help people, especially older individuals, as I have a lot of respect for their life experiences. What I enjoy most is the connection—having a chat, sharing a laugh, and simply being there. It’s often the smallest moments that can make the biggest difference to someone’s day.
My key strengths are my experience, patience, and understanding. I’ve supported many residents with different needs, particularly those living with dementia, and I feel confident supporting both residents and my team. I also enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping others develop in their roles.
My approach is centred on person-centred care, clear communication, and teamwork. I take time to understand each resident’s individual needs and ensure they feel respected and supported. I work closely with families to build trust and keep them involved, and within the team, I encourage open communication and mutual support so we can deliver the best possible care together.
Outside of work, I’m very family-oriented. I’m married with five children and four grandchildren, and I love creating a warm, welcoming home where everyone feels comfortable. I believe strongly in kindness, generosity, and making time for others—values that I carry into my work every day.
