Cedars and Larches are providing excellent care for my mum. Every member of staff without exception have been caring, compassionate, kind and proactive in their actions and communications. I feel we are all working together to identify what changes can be made to improve my mum's care and wellbeing. My mum feels safe and knows that everyone at the home have her best interests at heart and receives excellent care. The care home recognised the stress my family are experiencing and gone out of their way to make things better. Cedars and Larches continue to exceed my expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending The Cedars and Larches Care Home.

The staff are always polite and happy. They do always appear to be very busy and flummoxed if you ask them anything, which is even more frustrating during Covid-19 times as it is hard enough to get results, which we do understand to a certain extent.

Have had two recent, very good garden visits. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. It has been difficult, not being able to visit regularly but seeing him smile lets me know that he has been happy and well-cared for. The staff are always cheerful and seem happy in their work, and always have time for a friendly "Hi, good to see you" as they go about their jobs.

On today's visit, I was also given some very good news. At last, the Home is getting a Manager worthy of the position and just the right person alongside as her Assistant. Well done everyone at the Cedars.

Both my mum and myself were extremely worried about my gran moving into a care home during this difficult time. We need not have been. The staff at The Cedars and Larches couldn’t have done more to reassure us that everything was ok and Gran would be fine. Gran is fine and loving it in there. While we are not able to visit her, we have been able to see her through the window and the activity staff have let Gran video call us. My gran tells us everything in the home is clean, there is a good choice of food and she gets to watch a film on a Friday. The staff all seem really helpful and my gran is happy, that is all I care about.

My nan is a resident in the home for the last year, she tells me she is really happy living there. I know when I have been made to feel really welcome and been offered refreshments. The home is clean and fresh and you always see staff cleaning the home. There is always activities going on within the home and I enjoy receiving the newsletter each month. The home manager is always available and has been really helpful in supporting our family through this difficult time, she will ring us to keep us updated especially during COVID. The nurses have given us all the information that we need to ensure my nan is well looked after.

The home is lovely with a great staff team. Thank you for looking after my nan in her later years.

My mum has been a resident at this care home for 6 months now and I can’t fault the care she has received. The staff have always gone above and beyond to help and reassure the family during a very difficult time, I am certain without their patience mum wouldn’t have settled in so well. While I have not actually been able to go into the home due to covid my mum tells me it’s beautiful and clean, her room is lovely and her food is always very nice with plenty of choice. Mum says there is always lots of activities on offer and the activity lady is funny and wears funny outfits, I have spoken to the activity lady on many occasions and nothing is too much trouble, I have found this to be the case will all the staff. I would highly recommend the Cedars and Larches care home my mum is very happy there.

The staff are friendly and helpful but do their job. The equipment is fine, the decor could do with livening up. The rooms are basic but comfortable and the food is fine though "cake type" puddings are too frequent for my taste. The entertainment is good and not "must do". What I do like is that mostly all of the staff will oblige, within the regulations and the rules.

The home is brilliant, they offer great care. The carers are friendly and always happy to help. The manager is great, she always provides me with the information I need to best support my gran - especially during this worrying pandemic. I always call up because I worry about my gran and they always reassure me that she is in safe hands and well looked after. Before lockdown, I remember coming into the home and the residents were playing games. It was a really great atmosphere. The activity team really did make all the residents feel good and that showed through laughter. I really would recommend this home to anyone, I could not thank them enough, thank you!

Overall Experience
My neighbour and good friend came to the care home in December 2017. If it hadn’t have been for the wonderful staff and nurses there he wouldn’t have had the fabulous 2 and a half years he had. He had been neglecting himself for many years, and although I tried by best he was a very proud and stubborn man. He loved his cooked breakfast every morning, his 3-course lunches and his constant cups of coffee. In fact, he had never had it so good. The activities team soon realised his love for dominos, they soon learned he was the domino king, he was unbeatable. Sadly he lost his life on the 17th May 2020. But I can say hand on heart that he had the best few years of his life in The Cedars and Larches.

Thank you to everyone for making our neighbour's life the best it could be, and I know the last years were, in fact, the best years of his life.

I would absolutely recommend The Cedars and Larches Care Home. My mum feels like the staff and residents are her family and nothing is too much trouble. The care she receives is second to none. I want to thank the team at The Cedars and Larches for their care of my friend who sadly passed away on Sunday 17th May 2020. He had been in the care home for nearly two years, in that time they looked after him far better than he looked after himself. In one way, moving into there was the best thing for him, he was cared for, fed well and enjoyed the entertainment and activities. I especially want to thank one of the Care Workers who did so much for him, she was excellent in caring for him, making him laugh and keeping me (his official next of kin, as he had no family) updated on any issues or concerns.

My criticism of the home would be telephoning in was a nightmare, the phone was always answered in the other side and then transferred where it was left to ring for ages again, regularly it took me over 15 minutes to speak to someone about him. It's not a big issue. I was also concerned how a cleaner removed all of my friend's things from his room - he didn't have much.

Due to the virus we are unable to visit the home but we are kept well informed. The home is lovely and my sister is well looked after. The home manager and staff are kind and always available to answer any questions. I like to receive the newsletter which shows everything that is happening in the home. I would recommend this home to anyone that asks.

My wife and I have been more than happy with the care my mother-in-law has received at The Cedars and Larches. The staff are all very caring and treat Mum like one of their own family. The home is lovely and clean and always smells nice. There seems to be a wide variety of meals which Mum says are always very tasty. There are always activities on offer to keep the residents entertained and the activity staff are always very helpful and welcoming. Visitors are always made welcome and nothing is too much trouble. My mum's dementia means she can often be confused, angry and frustrated. However, the staff are considerate, understanding and act in a professional manner. They frequently show "they care" and help my mum's stay be as pleasant as it can be (she has been there for at least a year). To make the experience excellent would require more staff, enabling them to have more time with each person.

When visiting my mother, I find all the staff very helpful and listen to any concerns I may have regarding my Mothers well being. There are occasions when there doesn't appear to be many staff around but I accept it is a large nursing home and when toileting residents, it takes time, and sometimes two staff.

The Cedars and Larches is my first experience of a care home, so can not compare it to any other. I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The staff that I have met are kind, patient and caring towards my mother-in-law who can be trying, strong-willed and doesn't know when she puts herself at risk, example standing and trying to walk unaided. The staff are also very respectful to everyone in the home.
